    As a competitive ballroom dancer with a pixie cut, finding a special style was nearly impossible. pin curl tutorials specialized for short hair are a life saver!!

      Absolutely I was gonna do this for my wedding which was over six years ago but I scrapped the idea because when I practiced it about a month before my wedding I didn’t like the plaster to my head slick look and I didn’t think you could get it to sit very well and look right but yet alas she has done it🐚🌹

    This is utterly perfect timing! I cropped my hair off a few weeks ago and was just thinking this afternoon how I could possibly style my new hairdo, and then I saw this in my subscription box. Thank you!

    I love this tutorial! I went to a 1920's dance party last night and used your tutorial. I didn't have time to do my hair quite right, but got close enough. I was super happy with it, thanks!

    I have been wanting to know WHAT and HOW that 1930's wave is/is done for YEARS and FINALLY decided to look it up! THANK YOU! It's been bugging me FOR YEARS! I absolutely love the "Finger Wave" look! I'm going to try this one day soon! You're awesome!

    I had a friend of mine who is a hairdresser do my hair in a 1920's style two months ago and I am aiming for that style again during New Years Eve :) My hair is too long and too thick to do these pincurling and fingerwaves on my own, so I have to have the hairdresser do it. But this was a nice tutorial, maybe when I get older and get thinner hair I can try it out myself xD

    We totally have the same kind of hair. I'm so glad I found this tutorial. I'm going to be a flapper girl at the Labryth of Jareth Ball in L.A. this year. I've been stressing out over my hair, but I think that if I follow what you've done here, I will do all right.

    This is awesome. I have very short hair and I'm going to be in a production of the musical, Chicago, so I needed to find a short hairstyle from the 1920's. I'm so excited and I'll follow along with your tutorial for it! ❤

    Thank you , THANK YOU! I've been wanting to try out pin curls but found all the videos I find are for ethnic hair or longer hair. My growing out pixie cut is a pain in the neck to style. I have super coarse, wavy hair so when you mentioned finding a model to demonstrate how to finger wave on, girl, I was so excited!! Great video!

    So glad I found this. As someone who has very little experience doing hair, I feel this is something I can do! And I'm happy to see someone with similar hair to mine! It's the exact same length and thin. I just don't know what to do with it --- until now! THanks!

    I was wondering why you didn’t use a setting lotion and you explain that very well I really love the look that you did I wish I would’ve found this years ago, I also think that the setting lotion makes it to slipped my head it’s not as flattering as the style you did🐚

    • @LisaFreemontStreet

  • @Maazzzo

    Good tutorial. Just a suggestion, but for those of us who are hard of hearing, that background music is so loud it's really hard to make out what your'e saying. And the captions are not always accurate.

    • @LisaFreemontStreet
      @LisaFreemontStreet  6 років тому

      Matdy James thanks. which captions are inaccurate?

    • @Maazzzo
      @Maazzzo 6 років тому +2

      They're autocaption, so I wouldn't know since I can't hear what you're actually saying. But in general, auto captions are not always accurate, and if the music is too loud, sometimes auto captions pick up the lyric of the song rather than when someone is speaking.
      It's fine, it's still totally watchable. But because the music is so loud, I can't hear what you're saying, so I'm at the mercy of the captions, which I hope are accurate. But at the moment, the captions are off centre and running off the right side of the screen. Could be something to do with youtube? Not sure it's anything to do with your settings.
      I still enjoyed the tutorial, thank you.

    • @Maazzzo
      @Maazzzo 6 років тому +1

      I'll mess with the settings, don't worry. It's fine. I wasn't saying your captions were inaccurate, just that auto captions are not always accurate, so the loud music made it harder. Wasn't trying to be difficult :) thanks.

    • @LisaFreemontStreet
      @LisaFreemontStreet  6 років тому +3

      Michelle K. Clark actually, the video starts at the beginning, of you interested in the type of hair this suitable for as well as why finger waving for straight hair may be found to be more difficult. I think those things are important or I would not have included them. But yes, if you are interested in the tutorial only, then 2:35 will be your starting point. 😏

    Absolutely gorgeous hairstyle! I have the same fine short hair. I use rollers ( either plastic ones that have the over clips to hold them in or bendy ones) to try and get a 1930s style. I do have repro and original wave clips but I find them hard to use. I need to practise with them. My hairdresser can use them great though! Just to add some info on 1930s styling products. They did not have hairspray and of course no gels or mousses in those days. They used a waving lotion. I have found gels and mousses do not lend themselves to setting a 1930s style well at all, but waving lotion does. I get mine from an Etsy shop called Little Bits. ( Actually need to buy some more as I have ran out). When you set your hair with it you do not need anything else! The set stays in my hair 2-2 days ( obviously less so on the last day) which nothing else does. It smells lovely too. They also sell repro duckbill clips ( that's where I got mine from). www.etsy.com/uk/listing/515172392/vegan-1930s-rose-curling-fluid-wet-set?click_key=9b68cc79f09367ea1efa1689b701acb4734c4069%3A515172392&click_sum=1a0bcdfc&ref=shop_home_active_45&crt=1 www.etsy.com/uk/listing/625538820/vintage-hairstyling-duckbill-hair-clip?click_key=6b24878c0a4541d5d6eee08a9c894c0af9fbef21%3A625538820&click_sum=872cac2d&ref=shop_home_active_18&crt=1
