Thanks for showing a C-body you hardly ever see today. You cleaned it up beautifully. I have it's cousin, a '71 Fury III sedan, 360. Green green green. It has been reliable for 8 years and 40k miles. Busted motor and transmission mounts....like you say, driving them is the best part.
"Highland Hummingbird" is what the Chrysler engineers called it. I always use the later Nippondensos' any more because it's not 1/2 the size, 1/3 the draw, and spins twice as fast.
a beautiful old Plymouth Fury that with a little pampering could fairly easily be brought back to her former STOCK glory - the color looks like code T8 Tahitian Walnut metallic or Autumn Bronze metallic code K6
Wow, that car sounds like it has flowmasters, my Fury lll sounds identical to that '71 Fury, now put the cop car wheels on it, what a great find!!! Mopar or no car!!!
I have a '72 Plymouth Fury III 400 4barrel, dual exhaust, cop car wheels, car looks like a true whiskey runner!!! I love them.old Mopar starters, that's how you know that it's a Mopar!!!
The Fugees- hah funny. That's Hip Hop. Aside that- the car sounds great. I have a 72 Fury Custom Suburban wagon with hedders and Flowmaster Super 40's and it sound just as tough :-)
Nice! That is the low fuel light, broken word "FUEL" but that's what it is. The opposite side is the "DOORS" light, burnt out? Oil and BRAKE are below those. Thanks!
If you want to put the cop suspension & steering pieces on it, Murray B. Park in Ohio has some parts cars...I've also used 255/60 R15 tires on cop car wheels to put more of a contact patch down & keep the height "Right"
I wonder if 1970 model year front doors can be fitted? I'm saying that because that year they still had the front ventilated quarter windows still fitted & as standard. Might be a small thing but would make a big difference & look good on this.
Ah, yes, the hulking Chryslers of the early 1970s. I think people either loved 'em or hated 'em. Personally, I just thought they were big and ugly. My grandmother drove Chryslers, not Dodge or Plymouth, all but one purchased used, from around 1964 to 1986 or so, but she skipped the Melville-esque '69-'73 models, and went from a '67 New Yorker to a '74 Newport, which seemed a bit sleeker and classier, to me, at least. The main thing I remember about them was that whiny starter belied the big, powerful, thirsty V8 that it cranked. I'm clearly not fan, preferring smaller, sleeker, more fuel-efficient cars in general, but I have to admit, if you wanted to float around in something *big* with more than just a nod to luxury, it was hard to beat Chrysler Corp for the money at the time.
I hear you- I like the '67-'76 era A-bodies best. Have a '69 Swinger with a 383 in it (original owner transplanted in back in '78-'79) and a '76 Valiant sedan with a 4-bbl, dual exhaust 318 (not stock, but not uber modified)
P 215 70 r 15 If you replace tires, I'd go up a size or two. In height, not width. P215 75R 15, P225 75 R 15 You really can't go wider unless you get 6-7 inch wheels.
I haven't heard my own 383 in a while. Thanks-I needed that. 😃
Gotta love the old Bendix starter. I've got a '73 Imperial Lebaron with a 440. Sounds just like that!
I really love that sound!!
Its a Chrysler starter

Does anyone else like the sound of that starter??
OF COURSE.. 😛 As it's the sound of yet another lovely "Mopar cruise" about to begin !
"Highland Hummingbird" is what the Chrysler engineers called it. I always use the later Nippondensos' any more because it's not 1/2 the size, 1/3 the draw, and spins twice as fast.
It's actually a stock Hollywood sound effect, like the Wilhelm scream.
Yes, I am a Mopar man for 50 years.
That is great!! I have loved that sound for about 55 years!!
Beautiful car. I love the 70’s land yachts
Love these big boats!
They are normal sized cars 😁 all the other stuff is compacts. I took my drivers test in a car this size.
That is one really nice plymouth, deserves to be driven regularly. Great job bringing it out of dormancy.
1972 was the last year with the gold pentastar on the passenger side lower fender.

I had a 71 fury 3 2dr hardtop with a 360, a 71 sport fury 2 dr with 383 2bbl, and a 71 station wagon with a 383 4 bbl

Great car and video, love the sound👌😎🇳🇴

Won't take much get back road real clean motor sounds good
I miss my 71 fury 3 aka Betty Jean

I love the bid Furys. Thumbs up liked.
Nice clean Car 🙂
Love how that sounds
It's always nice when a car has relatively new exhaust system!
The starter sound was featured in the first BTTF movie.

I’d imagine the guts would swap out. 1970/1971 are very similar.
lol... the fugees... "not sure what that is..." Lauryn Hill...Ready or Not, Killing Me Softly... you havent heard of those? classics!
Love that car. Let me know if you want to get rid of it.
Looks like a gas tank to a rear engine snapper!
That is exactly what it is! Works great for temporary fuel tanks.

Granny had better taste than you! ;-) Sadly, she missed out on the fuselage years.. The pinnacle of Chrysler yacht designs IMO..!

What tires you got on her?
They were 15 year old hankook tires that were on it when I bought it.
Bad Gas ⛽️ 😫
Show me a Plymouth that likes starting cold.
Mine was green.
Trunk living!
What the heck is an OL light?
You know what it is!
people always install those crummy aftermarket radios that look like someone took a chain saw to the instrument panel!
Very rarely do I see an aftermarket radio installation that doesn’t look like the chain saw variety.
Ths The prim🎉ary reason for this car to run lously
is that it has nineteen seventy chevelle exhaust tips
Typical Chrysler starter sound.
I love that sound? Do you?
