Looks much better👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Agreed I didn’t like the trim in the front, but could u use some toner to get rid of the shadows that are left behind after removing them trim?
I still have the top piece but I just don’t care for it. It’s dog hair haha. My wife made the same comment. My dog (Roo) makes the occasional guest appearance in my videos.
I Like It! It's maybe more of a Renovation then a Restoration but it's more Modern now and Beautifully Done! I Personally would have prefered a slightly lighter, warmer color. Side Eye is All Horses can give. Equines can be so Judgy!
Watching you hack cut the felt caused a smile. You need to invest in a good pair of sewing scissors and a good fabric circle cutter. Special note, once you pay the price of good sewing scissors & cutting wheel, only use them on fabric, or they will quickly be wasted money. However, they will make cutting fabric so much easier.
I don’t usually cut that much fabric. Those scissors are medical scissors used to cut clothes in emergencies. I thought they would have worked better than they did.
@@restorationrhode still beautiful. I have seen other channels use oxalic acid. Wonder if that would work? Not a restorer so just taking a shot in the dark.
@ I’ve used oxalic acid. Only problem is I would have to used oxalic acid on the entire piece otherwise the bleaching effect would make that drawer stand out
I've removed ugly, non functional decorative bits from furniture that I've been given to restore for myself. I've also made choices about painting vs striping finish down to the bare wood and then refinishing. Sometimes the original wood is just too far gone to bring back the finish without a herculean effort, or was the wrong type to ever have a good grain 'pop', so paint was the only choice. If the end result of your labor is an a useful piece of furniture that will look good in place, you've done a good job. Table saw without a blade guard is an accident looking for a place to happen. I only removed mine when doing dado's.
Thank you! Honestly, I’m not sure. All the screws are flatheads, so maybe pre 1936. But they could have just chosen to use flatheads and it more modern. There are also no labels or markings on it.
I’m not sure why. Something happened in the upload but by the time I noticed it had been posted for a few hours and I didn’t want to take it down and reupload
It's a shame that the 'circus awning' still shows all across the front of the piece. The bleached out spots are clearly there. I didn't see the first part of video, or the removal of the veneer. But I went back to review it. My comment comes before I rewatched the revitalization..

A top job with some nice touches of humour too. Much enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Loved the sculpting of the foot!
Shaping that foot took way longer than I was expecting.
Terrific! You took hat dowdy old sideboard and made it into something that deserves to be in the dining room.
Thank you! I agree! Hopefully it sells fast.
Looks much better👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Agreed I didn’t like the trim in the front, but could u use some toner to get rid of the shadows that are left behind after removing them trim?
I agree. Why would he leave the marks behind? Terrible reno job.
I tried a lot of things to get the shadows off. I should have tried toner. I did stain those areas and it still showed through a little bit.
good decision to take of the top piece off and that cheap looking wood circus tent trim. great job. Looks so much more elegant,
However, the shadow is still there. Would another piece of trim without a circus motif have been better?
I agree. It looked cheap.
Agree 100% with the modifications you made. This came out fantastic pal.

Thank you! Cheers!

Good job!
Thanks! I appreciate it.
Gorgeous 😅
Thanks!
I was sorry you removed the top trim, but very happy you removed the loopy bits. Is the hair I spied on your sweater dog or cat?
I still have the top piece but I just don’t care for it. It’s dog hair haha. My wife made the same comment. My dog (Roo) makes the occasional guest appearance in my videos.
@ , I hope I see your overseer soon. Either way, it is beautiful.

Thanks! You’re right it’s more of a renovation. That horse was very suspicious of me and what I was doing.
Nice looking piece. Scallop trim is very trendy right now. If I was selling this I would have kept it because it adds unique detail.
Thanks! I know but I couldn’t stand it. Reminded me of a carnival tent for some reason.
@@restorationrhode No way, Jose! That stuff had to go.
Love it! I have a very similar one in Missouri.
Thanks! I think it’s a nice piece too.
I agree with removing the ugly trim. I think the top piece should be put back on.
I still have the top piece and could put it back. Personally I don’t care for it though.

Liked it better without headboard and scallops, but could still see where scallops were. Distracting. Beautiful piece though.
I tried so many things to get the shadow out and you could still see a little bit of it.

hi! beautiful work! That piece is from what decade? Thank you!

@@restorationrhode Thank you!
Awesome Job! Maybe contact the person who you got it from, and see if they want to buy it back?
Not a bad idea. I think the horse might want it back.
I can still see the scalloped outline.
A little bit. I tried everything but couldn’t completely get rid of it.
Que bonita
I think so too. Thanks!
Did everyone else’s screen go completely black for about fifteen seconds around the 15 minute mark?
I’m not sure why. Something happened in the upload but by the time I noticed it had been posted for a few hours and I didn’t want to take it down and reupload
@ to err is human, but to REALLY foul something up requires technology!
Yes
Love saving old pieces like this. I hope u ditch your jumper before you start doing the finish all that dog hair would send me crazy.
Yea haha. I wear rubber gloves and I change into a shirt I have specifically for finishing.

The restoration includes the backsplash.
Not bad. But the shadow of the removed trim kinda lessens the work.
🔝🔝🔝
Thanks!

Thanks!
Glue syrenge...
I have one. But it was getting clogged.
Wonderful result! Glad you removed all the cheesy looking decorations.
Thank you! I agree.
You do great work, but disappointed to see you promoting Temu. Maybe you should look into their operation before hand.
Whoa speed racer, might start a fire with that speed! lol 🧯
Between you and me, I sped up the footage. But don’t tell anyone. Haha
@restorationrhode I came here for the fantastic restoration work and stayed for the Dad humor 😄
