To be honest, the ECW championship design would have worked if it wasn't the ECW championship, if it had been for a new mid card title on Raw or Smackdown, it could have worked, but the fact that it was a corporate looking title for a company that was meant to be anything but corporate is why it didn't work
I can agree with that, it was just too hoity-toity to be associated with what was basically the Grunge movement of wrestling (the original ECW, not WWECW)
As someone who finds gold to be gaudy more often than not, I actually prefer silver to gold, including for world titles so I honestly enjoyed the new ECW Title more than most belts, but yes, for ECW it was best to just keep the old belt.

I was definitely disappointed when the jam belt was released, but I have to say: that blue version is miles worse. The blue looked super cartoony and cheap to me, whereas the red I've long felt could be tweaked to not be as bad and actually be good. But then again, the penny tag belts grew on me so who knows
I always thought the exact opposite. The red just did not work for me, looked like a toy and just wrong. While the blue version made it look cleaner and the metal on it pop more.
I have to disagree. The red univeral title is really hard on the eyes and looks like a giant fruit roll up. Changing it to blue at least made it feel a little more regal. Plus, Roman managed to make it look pretty good when he held it.
I remember Gillberg having the Light Heavy Weight belt for so long. I think they just stopped booking him for a while, and didn't care about the belt enough to strip him of it, but just continued his reign when he showed up. But he almost never defended it.
If you don't know. Tommy Dreamers hardcore belt was actually at the time recently retired European belt. With a licence plate attached to it. Bradshaw's custom hardcore belt was just the smoking skull belt with a American flag glued to it.
All the spinner belts were cool, I loved Edge's Rated R plate on the WWE Championship but the US spinner was cool too, it fit the theme and Cenas gimmic at the time. Since the mid 2000s was a heavy "gangsta rap" influenced period, it just worked..
I honestly never understood the hate towards the spinner belt. I love it. I have a replica. Probably because i grew up with it and grew fond of it that is probably it.
I agree but I also agree the old title that came before that fit much better I honestly feel like the silver Ecw title would’ve worked better as a cross brand cruiser weight title

Apparently the 24/7 belt looked good to R-Truth since he won it over 50 times. Meaning somehow, Truth is one of the most decorated champions. A 50+ time WWE 24/7 champion.
yeah Sammartino is the longest reigning champion in WWE history, Moolah not only didn't hold it for as long as they said she did, she also lost it a few times, usually gaining it back a short while later. but no single uninterrupted run comes close to Sammartino's near 8 years.
Hot take: I like the tag team coin belts. I find the other ones often overdesigned, and the smaller form factor makes sense since there's two of them. If you think about it, isn't a tag team belt really half a belt and not a whole belt?
I figured it out. The modern intercontinental belt should be the tag team belts. That belt does not work for a singles title. I prefer the old one with the white strap tbh.
I don't actually hate all of these. The Hardcore Belt doesn't scream hardcore to me, but it looks kinda neat. Looks like something straight from Mad Max, which is kinda hardcore. The new Tag Team Belts also look pretty neat. Could be better designed but I dig the bronze look of it, and the imagery. Lot of strong nods towards Spartans, and Spartans are pretty cool generally. The fact they got rid of the bronze and gave them coloured straps for the brands is honestly the biggest offender for me personally. I don't even hate the 24/7 belt's choice of colours, but I'd struggle to find a belt concept that would work for that colour combination and not look like the worst thing. I hate the actual design, not the colours, if that makes sense. John Cena's stupid US spinner belt though can absolutely go die in a trash fire however. That one REALLY took the piss. It looks like some wall hanger shite you'd get from your local mall. You know the ones. "Vomited America all over it" is too painfully accurate.
Cena’s US title is better looking that the WWE one and most of the belts on this list. Also the “Vanilla Ice cosplay phase (the one where he didn’t resemble him at all),” is the best version of Cena.
It's funny, back when i first got into watching WWE, i always wanted to be Diva's champion. Probably should have been a sign of things to come, but dumb teens are dumb.
I've said this before in the past that WWE should make belts that represent the shows that they exist on and bear the show logos too, but at least now the new World Heavyweight and Women's World belts help to offset having four singles belts all looking the same. I do like the red and blue tag belts (new designs would be cool and make them distinctively different), the I-C and U.S. are fantastic, and the NXT belts are a good batch too. Even the Women's tag belts have their own design. Even wilder idea would be if they just put the women on their own weekly show with a world, singles, and tag belts. Not that they shouldn't get featured on Raw or Smackdown, but it would give more air time and more room to feature more talent. I know it won't happen but I just had to put that last one out there.
Having a separate women's show isn't actually a bad idea 🤔🤔🤔 However I doubt it would happen cos most wrestling fans would like something that caters to different aspects of the sport like high flying, technical/mat based, hardcore and so forth. The same match type all the time would get super boring. Plus I think the women might reject such an idea cos they want to he held on the same pedestal as men and naturally that means being featured on the same card tho a women's only event would be able to showcase more female talent who are usually left in the background in favour of big name stars.
More belts should have moving parts. They should outsource the belt design to cybertron and have the belts transform into robots for maximum merchability
There's no way yall think the US Spinner title is terrible. I firmly disagree with criticism of the WWE Spinner belt but I understand it. The US Title Spinner was GREAT. Loved it, I need to buy a replica
Facts it was a belt of the times, folks where big into Sprewells and spinners at the time, definitely not the ugliest belt considering how big Cena was at the time too
For the most part, I don't care what a belt looks like, since it doesn't really matter because champs don't treat them like the prestigious objects they're meant to be. Remember Ric Flair in the 80s, when he'd come to the ring with the belt around his waist? He'd take it off and pass it to the ref like it was a 100 year old heirloom. Or when he'd cradle it in his arm against his body doing promos. Now? Championship belts are tossed over the shoulder, dragged around by hand, even launched into the ring by champions. Bring back respect and prestige to both the meaning of a championship as well as the object that represents it! PS: expected to see the Big Green WWF World Hvt Title belt, glad it didn't make the list.
I met The Usos in 2014 and got to wear the real WWE Tag Team Titles It did feel really good and those belts were really easy to hold as a belt I actually like the original penny belts
Even as a kid, I remember seeing that divas title being unveiled for the first time with all the divas surrounding it and immediately thinking this was the most horrendous looking belt I have ever seen.
Compared to every other championship on the main card, and promotional championships, this one has more of a look and design to it, without the bigass W in the middle for marketing. But I still see your point, it’s an ugly ass belt to look at. One of my favoured championships is the Lucha Underground Gift Of The Gods Championship. For some reason that things looks so majestic. 😂
Well it's 1000 times better then the ruthless agression to 2010 intercontinental belt version. Before the miz brought back the classic championship belt or was it Curtis axel son of Mr perfect can't remember 🤔
5:51 you got it in reverse. The Smackdown belts with the blue straps were introduced first in August 2016 while the new red raw belts were introduced right after roadblock 2 in December
I will defend the WWECW championship in so far as, much like the show itself, by any other name it would have been fine. But carrying on that lineage was an impossible job. Though, I think there's also something to be said about the colour of it. I'm not sure if it's meant to be platinum but at first sight it looks silver so it automatically has this second rate image in your head when you compare it to the other world titles which are gold. I like the tag titles too, I know everyone talks about the giant pennies or whatever, which again if you use the colour line of thinking does evoke bronze and it being a lesser prize, but I think the spartan helmets really save it. It helps inspire the idea of it being a team team prize, plus the helmets being back to back gets across this idea of that team being the centre of this whole division. If you think about that trope in cinema where two people are in this desperate struggle, fighting back to back surrounded by their enemies, arguably it's the same here where you might have like 5-6 other teams gunning for you.
The WWECW belt definitly belongs on the list. You can't make title that is meant to signal who ever holds it is the best brand has to offe out of silver.
I can’t be sure this wasn’t a dream but I believe there was a segment where the WWE tag champs The Shield came to NXT to confront the NXT tag champs Neville and Cory Graves, saying something like “you’ll never hold THESE” and raised those disgusting penny belts. I actually like the red and blue belts, but only if they took the split of the brands seriously. You could have elements of Raw and Smackdown on the belts and make them unified as part of the company, but still unique for each show. I admit though, I hate the mustard belt design. They could have went back to the black straps for the men, and white straps for the women, but why on earth did they put so much yellow on the belt?
The only problem to me at this point is the colors, at least of the Raw version. I think that if we made the Raw ones gold with a red strap and the SmackDown ones stayed the same, they'd look neat.
The divas title was so ugly it looked liked something out of Barbie or Disney princess accessory for a little girl what were they thinking when they designed the title.
To be fair Mildred Burke was the first holder of the NWA Womens Championship and her picture was in the belt. So I think the NWA just had that tradition from the start for the women. But agree on all other points. Weird thing to have if it's a babyface champ.
i know for a fact im not the only one who like the WWE ECW Championship design but why do i feel like im the only one who liked the 2010-16 WWE Tag Team Championships i dont get it
Worst thing about the penny belt was that they were bronze. Such a dis to tag team wrestling making them a literal 3rd place medal. 24/7 belt just looked like a participation prize, and partly treated as such.
That Tommy Dreamer title looked like someone took the original NWA title, then bought a license plate and put it over the main plate. It was horrible, honestly
To be honest, the ECW championship design would have worked if it wasn't the ECW championship, if it had been for a new mid card title on Raw or Smackdown, it could have worked, but the fact that it was a corporate looking title for a company that was meant to be anything but corporate is why it didn't work

i know for a fact im not the only one who like the WWE ECW Championship design but why do i feel like im the only one who liked the 2010-16 WWE Tag Team Championships i dont get it

That Tommy Dreamer title looked like someone took the original NWA title, then bought a license plate and put it over the main plate. It was horrible, honestly
You did not just Diss John Cena’s US Title
