Yeah, it was a great gag with bad execution. Though in fairness I’m not sure there was any way to execute it well, because even on TV it was tough to see what they were doing.
I still enjoy the gag, but it was rough to make out what exactly was happening on TV. It might have been funnier, and actually made sense if Head & Shoulders were the sponsor of the PPV, instead of probably Stridex.
Btw, the overall name & image change of the heel(villain) tag team Too Much("Too Hot" Scott Taylor & "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher) to beloved, fan favorite, babyface tag team Too Cool(Scotty 2 Hotty & Grandmaster Sexay) was awesome.
I’m from Arkansas and I’m just glad you didn’t pronounce it as “Ar-Kansas”. Thank you Adam Pacitti and Cultaholic Wrestling as a whole, KISS KISS (Love you, bye) 😘
I will defend the Al Snow/Too Much match from KOTR to my dying day. It’s a little lowbrow but it’s good comedy. Al at one point exits the ring to the outside and marches all the way back to the entrance ramp before charging at Brian Christopher, rearing up for a devastating move of some kind as Brian visibly braces himself and screams out as Al sprints towards him and slams him with… A clothesline… Just, a clothesline 😂
I saw that Oddities vs. Kai En Tai match recently and I thought it was a fun comedy match. I would much rather watch that again then the mixed tag or the Lion's Den match on the same show.
To be fair though, the matches they had were experimental and did grab the attention of the audience. Apparently they did learn from them, not to do that type of match again with each other.
The June 15 1998 cell match was actually put on the "Hell in a Cell" dvd years ago. The only cell match that didn't make the cut was the Kennel From Hell match.
The number one pick did have a GREAT bit of commentary from Jim Ross, so it's also got that going for it at least. "The Head is the legal man.... what the *HELL* am I saying?!"
Okay. As someone who was there live and saw it with my own eyes, I am personally OFFENDED that Undertaker vs Kane at Judgment Day w/ Steve Austin as special guest referee is not only on your list, but is so high on your list! That was NOT a bad match! It wasn't! I'm literally crying right now, Adam Pacitti of Cultaholic Wrestling! ...Sidenote: Too Much was comprised of "Too Hot" Scott Taylor and "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher (RIP). When the gimmick was changed almost overnight, I thought it was definitely the end of their careers. I'm happy I was wrong.
‘98 definitely wasn’t his best year. In fact, his whole Ministry of Darkness era was pretty crappy in terms of the matches he had during that time. A lot of them, anyways.
He wasn't to allowed to wrestle at a higher pace because of his character, that's why Taker loved the biker gimmick so much because he had the freedom to wrestle however he wanted. I have heard that when Vince asked Taker to go back to his Deadman gimmick, Taker wasn't interested at first but then Vince assured him that he can continue wrestling at a higher pace.
It's always funny when Attitude Era nostalgics try to argue the "superiority" of the era by pointing out things like Inferno matches. There has never been a good inferno match!
Like the 4 Doinks Match at Surviver Series (Bushwackers, MOM), the Oddities Vs Kaienti was goofy fun pro wrestling. Not everything can be a 5 * affair and we need stuff like this in wrestling. Not a popular opinion I know.
Hey now....I love that Raw Hell in Cell match....yeah it may not have finished but it was so memorable and nostalgic it has seared itself into my brain lol
People seem to think the Attitude Era was perfect because of their nostalgia goggles. This list shows just how much it could suck too. Lol. Still love it though.
Random fact about that starting sentence: whether you count it as 1998 or as the time from WM 14 to WM 15, Austin actually fell 2 days short of spending over half of the year - as in the year associated most with Austin-era Attitude - being the champion. In fact, the only time he spent more than half of a year as champion was the year after WM 17. Goes to show sometimes "who's chasing" tells you more about who's the focus/draw than "who has the belt."
That's true actually, Bret had the belt when the focus was on Taker vs. Shawn for number one contendership, when shawn became champ the focus was all in on Stone Cold and when Triple H became champion it was all the same since everyone was solidly behind the rock and couldn't wait for him to get another run with the belt as a face for the first time
@@rustlerv6549 Bret is my pick for all-around GOAT and Shawn is my 3rd place pick for most overrated, and even I have to objectively admit you're completely right about that first part. I feel almost like back then, they just knew the chase made more compelling TV. I feel like that's maybe what they "tried" to do with Punk and then Bryan years ago, but the newer creative crowd didn't really know how to do it. Another factor is that in Austin's year, there was nobody at all holding it for like 2 months, so he technically still had it longer than anybody else did that year. Foley & Rock also kept swapping it, and due to that, Rock technically reached his 3rd reign before Austin reached his, fun fact.
Geez its crazy how the attitude era is considered the greatest era of all time but most of the PPV main events and undercard matches were really bad. 😮
So, as someone from Arkansas, I learned something from this video. Well 2 things I suppose. 1. The Godwinn's were billed from Arkansas. Probably not a great look for the state but there you go. 2. Technically, by beating The Quebecers, we proved we are better than Quebec. Take that.
You could’ve picked just about any LOD match from 1998, their entire second WWE run was just depressing. Especially for me and anyone else who’d previously counted them among their favorite tag teams.
This was the Era of DOA, Blue Meanie, Jeff Jarret, Sable and and The New Age Outlaws and you actually put Taker and Kane on here 3 times?! Come on man! Anytime DOA was in the ring i checked out.
I don’t even consider Taker/Austin vs Kane/Mankind a match. Just a decent brawl segment to close the show. There’s way worse actual matches than that lol
It’s insane to me how one of the most legendary feuds in the history of WWE, that being Kane vs The Undertaker, had some absolutely awful matches. Most of them were bad, honestly, and I don’t get it. Both of them were more than capable of putting on great matches. Never made much sense to me.
The Triple Threat between Kane, Undertaker, an Austin could of been so much better, especially if after Undertaker and Kane beat on Austin for a bit after he's on the mat, they would both look down at Austin before kooking at one another as they would start fighting each other. Since they both knew only one person could win which would lead to them brawling on the outside, I don't know if the match was a no dq or that but if it wasn't, as soon as the ref got to the 9 count with either Taker or Kane still out of the ring, because Austin was keeping them from getting back in the ring or they were seriously injured, Vince would stop the ref telling him that the match can't be won by a countout. This would keep the match going while having Vince trying to screw Austin over even more and another spot could happen later where Taker or Kane would do a illegal move like a low blow or do a choke hold on the bottom rope which would go doe a dq, but once again Vince would step in saying the match was also supposed to be a no DQ match. This of course would give Austin a big smile on his face since he has a huge fighting chance now that the rules are mostly out the window. There could even be a spot where taker or kane slams Austin or get slammed into the ring bell which would make it fall, and would be used by Austin near the end of the Match when Kane and Undertaker could be working together to try to hit Austin with a chair; But he instead would avoid the chair shot before hitting taker or kane with a low blow making both brothers fall to the floor, seeing how his plans on backfiring Vince would storm to the ring and try to ring the bell but he wouldn't find it. That's when Austin would quietly slide out of the ring as he grabs the bell before hitting Vince in the face with it before flipping him off and cussing him out before going back into the ring hitting either Kane and Undertaker with the Stone Cold Stunner and getting the three count. I feel that would still have Undertaker and Kane look snart as they srill had to go after the other person if they wanted to pin Austin, it made vince look like a fool who ruined his own plans to try and stop Austin, while Austin would still look smart and would have a reason to terrorize Vince even more now.
I got to be honest I really enjoyed Kane and takers inferno match. And I thought that head and shoulders bottle was a funny and kind of creative finish.
British Wrestling UA-cam channels will never convince me of the apparent lack of chemistry Kane & The Undertaker had. (Loved The American Badass Taker too, which they always crap on) Did they have 5 star classics? No. But their matches were decent to great, IMHO.
If WWE or AEW did even half of the crap that happened in the attitude era, they would be ridiculed online forever. Too many people live with rose tinted nostalgia.
Taker and Austin v Kane and mankind hiac is in WWE '13 attitude mode and fuck that match. It's so frustrating I gave up and haven't tried again in months
For the ring of fire matches all they had they to do was bring down the cage and light the cage on fire and pull it back from the ring another foor or so that way the wrestlers can still use the whole ring, just no outside dives lol.
Ah, the Attitude Era: an all-time high for characters and storylines (depending on your tolerance for racism, misogyny, etc.) and an all-time low for workrate. Not my cup of tea, personally.
Gotta disagree with your top two, here. The "Inferno Match" was always meant to be more spectacle than anything. It was never sold as otherwise. Big suplexes and powerslams and chokeslams sending the fire up into the air was incredible to watch. The wrestling, itself, was limited but it never detracted from what the match was meant to be. So, yeah, feel like you're reaching with that one. Feels more like a "shock value" kinda thing to be on this list when there are easily far worse matches of that time. And the last one? It was a brief tag team match with a funny joke at the end. It centered around Al Snow, a crazy person who talked to a mannequin head called Head, feuding with a goofy-ass troupe of Too Much and The King. Of course it was going to be a dumb, silly, joke of a match with a punchline finish. Again, feels like this is reaching as a "number one" spot given all the other nothing matches that happened in '98.
Yes because having a triple threat match for. A title with a stipulation that actually makes sense is a terrible idea. Why should you be able to pin somebody who isn’t the champion to get the belt off him and make him “stay looking strong”…LAAAAAZY booking
AH COME ON CULTAHOLIC THE INFERNO MATCH AND THE TRIPLE THREAT TITLE MATCH AND THE HELL IN A CELL TAG TEAM MATCH WAS NOT ALL THAT BAD AT THE TIME AND I WAS 11 YEARS OLD WHEN IT HAPPENED. YOU SHOULD'VE ADDED THE LUNA VS SABLE EVENING GOWN MATCH (UNFORGIVEN 1998), JARRETT VS GOLDUST (ROCK BOTTOM 1998), VADER VS KANE (OVER THE EDGE 1998), DUSTIN RUNNELS/RHODES VS VAL VENIS (BREAKDOWN 1998), JARRETT VS BRADSHAW (NO WAY OUT OF TEXAS 1998) AND THE ROCK AND ROLL EXPRESS VS THE NEW MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (UNFORGIVEN 1998).
The Al Snow match was terrible, I remember watching it live and feeling ripped off. The had hyped Al Snow for weeks, doing theses great promos where he was constantly trying to sneak in. At the time ECW was still majorly hard to see either late night tv or bootlegs from dodgy flea markets were your only options. The hype promised ECW insanity would be coming to WWF, the whole crowd was hyped for him, and then the jobbed him out and killed his momentum.
Although the match was bad the usage of the head and shoulders was one of the funniest and most clever things I've ever seen
I still think about how funny that finish was years later
Yeah, it was a great gag with bad execution. Though in fairness I’m not sure there was any way to execute it well, because even on TV it was tough to see what they were doing.
The answer to the question "What if a wrestling match ended via Dad Joke?"
1:08 I miss RAW being held in these smaller venues
...They all had character and each were all different and unique
I, too, miss RAW being held at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Thankfully, ECW scratched that itch when the WWF stopped going there.
The Head and Shoulders bit from the Al Snow/Too Much match was hilarious and kind of brilliant.
Can you guys do a ranking video of every undertaker vs Kane match?
I’m from Arkansas and I’m just glad you didn’t pronounce it as “Ar-Kansas”. Thank you Adam Pacitti and Cultaholic Wrestling as a whole, KISS KISS (Love you, bye) 😘
I will defend the Al Snow/Too Much match from KOTR to my dying day. It’s a little lowbrow but it’s good comedy. Al at one point exits the ring to the outside and marches all the way back to the entrance ramp before charging at Brian Christopher, rearing up for a devastating move of some kind as Brian visibly braces himself and screams out as Al sprints towards him and slams him with…
A clothesline… Just, a clothesline 😂
I remember thinking at the time thinking that the Head & Shoulders thing was brilliant, but in my defense, I was 8.
It was lol.
Your number one is the textbook definition of so bad it's good. Head and Shoulders shampoo? Genius.
I saw that Oddities vs. Kai En Tai match recently and I thought it was a fun comedy match. I would much rather watch that again then the mixed tag or the Lion's Den match on the same show.
THAT IS A LOT OF UNDERTAKER ON THIS LIST LOL
And Kane!
To be fair though, the matches they had were experimental and did grab the attention of the audience. Apparently they did learn from them, not to do that type of match again with each other.
Brian Christopher with a jeffery Dahmer Easter egg
The June 15 1998 cell match was actually put on the "Hell in a Cell" dvd years ago. The only cell match that didn't make the cut was the Kennel From Hell match.
It's hilarious how bad the Attitude Era was in terms of matches. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Car crash TV, it drew massive numbers though
Surprised to see Undertaker and Kane so many times here
The number one pick did have a GREAT bit of commentary from Jim Ross, so it's also got that going for it at least.
"The Head is the legal man.... what the *HELL* am I saying?!"

You're crying because of a UA-camr's opinion of a wrestling match? Are you the "It's still real to me dammit" guy or something?
@@highlordlaughterofcanada8685 Is your name Dee Reynolds? Because holy shit, are you late.
This is probably the best of the bad matches lists.
Haven’t tuned in to a Cultaholic video in a while. Great to see Gabe Kidd hosting the top 10s now!
I don't care what anyone says. I've loved every time Kane faced the undertaker especially in 1998 🔥🔥🔥
Same. They brought out best in each other
The inferno match was like a fever dream
This was the first year I watched wrestling. It will always have a place in my heart
Come on head and shoulders is a classic
Some assholes are always trying to iceskate uphill.
Oddities vs Kai En Tai was good fun.
Pacitti: DOA
Me: Biker Michael Likers
If people from Quebec and Arkansas had to deal with each other, there would be a rivalry.
Quebec isn't real
As a lifelong Undertaker fan, this list makes me just a bit sad
‘98 definitely wasn’t his best year. In fact, his whole Ministry of Darkness era was pretty crappy in terms of the matches he had during that time. A lot of them, anyways.

We have a saying here in Quebec: "Les motadit Godwinns peuvent bin venir d' Arkansas"
Idk bout you guys, but i had a guilty pleasure watching oddities. Wether there icp entrance, or just how goofy it looks😂

Hey now....I love that Raw Hell in Cell match....yeah it may not have finished but it was so memorable and nostalgic it has seared itself into my brain lol
7:19 Their match at Wrestlemania XX was good too, with The Undertaker having retired the American Bad Ass persona.
I’ve been waiting for this one for a while….
Everybody knows that there is no issue between Quebec and Arkansas. Now, New Brunswick & Missouri? Completely different story.
Tell me you weren't alive during the Attitude Era, without telling me you weren't alive during the Attitude Era.
Bruh one time I’m early to a video and I can’t think of anything funny and relevant to the video
People seem to think the Attitude Era was perfect because of their nostalgia goggles. This list shows just how much it could suck too. Lol. Still love it though.
The screwy finish was lit sir..
LOD had a bad ass gimmick

Geez its crazy how the attitude era is considered the greatest era of all time but most of the PPV main events and undercard matches were really bad. 😮
Usually made great TV but very little decent wrestling matches.
You know Attitude Era was so amazing even the worst match was entertaining to watch.
Thank goodness they never messed up the finish to a Hell in a Cell match again.

Yes because having a triple threat match for. A title with a stipulation that actually makes sense is a terrible idea. Why should you be able to pin somebody who isn’t the champion to get the belt off him and make him “stay looking strong”…LAAAAAZY booking
