    Great way to do this interview and a nice build to demo. Thanks again Derek!

    I have found a few dozen of these kinds of hides throughout the years. They always get a favorite point from me. And now that I see how easy they are to build, I may put one out myself someday.

      Geocaching with Halemeister yeah I know right. Leave it up to me to over think how to make it.

    I have actually found one of these type caches before. Luckily I found it when I just started geocaching years ago so these type of caches kept me in the game and entertained. I love the creativity of this simple but fun caches! Had I not found caches like this one in the beginning, I am not sure I would have stayed in so long. Thanks for sharing this one! Great job!

    I am having a heck of a time finding a spring like that where I am in Canada. Most big box stores stock much smaller than that, unfortunately.

      It is a great idea and easy enough to copy. I know I will be making one of these.

    Great interview, and the remote format will open back up those 1 on 1 interviews. Zoom is your friend. I own a cache called Missile Command with a similar concept. It has 150 favorite points on it. It’s a smaller diameter PVC pipe about 4 feet long with a j-bend at the bottom. It’s attached to the side of a building so it blends in perfectly. You use lung power to launch a bison tube several feet into the air..

      @BehindtheCache  4 роки тому +1

      That is cool I have thought about one like that. Do they bring a TOTT to clean it or do you provide something.

    • @DeadliestCachers
      @DeadliestCachers 4 роки тому

      Nothing provided. I have faith that the cacher will wipe it off before they make the attempt. Also, it’s self cleans itself when it rains. The famous world traveling cache Retired Guy even stopped by and did it when he was in town.

    Looks like a nice cache. I might try making it myself. I like gadget caches that are simple to make but find to make, hide, and find. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from down under!

    We have a cache very similar to this in the Geocaching Capital of Canada GeoTour. It was put out in May of 2015 and we haven't had any maintenance issues with it. Being in Canada, we have to think of the snow and ice, so we put a removable cap on the top (a spray paint can lid that fits loosely) and attached it with a small chain so it doesn't get lost. Good advise to use a bright coloured container. Ours is painted florescent orange. Love simple caches that last for years! Happy caching. That is great low maintenance is awesome 👏. Yeah each location has its own challenges to think of when you put out a gadget.

    Cool, another gadget cache idea for me to steal. I have found one around near where I live. I'm pretty sure I gave it a favorite point. I like how that can be put in quite a few different areas. I know Dan said they don't get water in them much, but a removable cap from the top might not be a bad idea. Thanks for sharing by the way.

      Hey there are always little things that can make it unique to our own. I have had a few ideas. Like make it like a grandfather joke “Pull my finger” and what shoots out is a brown cache container.

  • @Oklahomajewel1

    I like the PVC ideas too. Affordable, strong and different sizes and connections. How about bigger 4 " or more sewer pipe?

    • @BehindtheCache
      @BehindtheCache  4 роки тому +1

      Are you asking about this cache being that big or another?

    • @Oklahomajewel1
      @Oklahomajewel1 4 роки тому

      @@BehindtheCache Either/Any. I know there are bigger pipe than just 1-2 inch that would give room for a bigger container to hold swag & book. I've noticed lots of gadget caches with pvc & agree its a great product for cache containers.

      The hardest part was actually finding a place to put it.

    • @BehindtheCache
      @BehindtheCache  4 роки тому +1

      Yes that is usually the issue. I hope that your cache has a long life and brings many smilies to the cachers who find it.

    Nice idea! I had thought of something like this but not made it yet! I think I'll put strong fishing line attached to the bottle so it can pop out far but not get lost. I like the idea of lining it up parallel with a tree limb or fence & camouflage. Could attach a fake snake to it!
    Or away from public view but with a firecracker design! And make the tube with a point like a rocket.

    I made it a few days ago. Unfortunately the spring is too weak to throw the container out of the pipe. The spring is a 1.2 x 12 x 200mm.

    • @BehindtheCache
      @BehindtheCache  4 роки тому +2

      Yeah that is the toughest part to find in this cache. Did you try to find a pinball machine spring?

  • @katkaplan3

    No- never found one like this- not many creative caches by me in New Jersey at all sadly.

      It is a fun and really quick build. I think the hardest part is finding the spring for this. Then or course finding where to hide it in the wild. Enjoy.
