You should try making some puzzles. They're always more fun to make than to solve. Even if it's still not fun, it's probably *more* fun :P I keep a list of resources and tools I come across to help with solving puzzles. That's my go-to if I don't immediately get the puzzle. ref.wikibruce.com That's where it is.
About 40% of my finds are puzzle caches... because SOBs* in my region publish more puzzles that regular caches. Damn them!!! Many puzzle caches are extremely poorly designed. Either they are tedious like hell or they don't have a unique solution (the creator has in mind a specific solution but the provided data can also lead to other solutions as valid as theirs) To be frank, the first thing I do is to check who posted the puzzle. Some COs in my area are known for they awful puzzles. They are not worth even trying. * Son of Bankers
I've encountered a few stinkers, but I have to accept them because they are the only ones that work out for me. I guess it is always the same crew that makes and solves these intense ones. That way in your area?
@@Skimbosh Yes. They are a small group of friends. They share hints between them. They sometimes know in advance and/or guess what type of puzzle will be published next.
Best strategy is to be doing a nearby regular cache, run across another caching team who has the answer and leads you off into the woods without really explaining or concerned that you didn't participate in solving the puzzle.
A friend of mine runs the Geocaching Puzzle of the Day blog. I took at it weekly and it's great for keeping me humble. I can solve about 1/3 of the puzzles presented! :-) It's easier to create puzzles than to solve them in my opinion. I have a couple great puzzle series that I'm glad I wasn't the one trying to solve!
Yeah, I see that echoed quite a bit here. Make 'em, don't solve 'em! I solved ONE puzzle of the day, and only because it was some wordplay based on Andy Warhol that I had some passing trivial knowledge on. I don't want humble, I want solutions! :D
The easiest way for me to clear puzzles off my Geocaching map is to turn the icon off! Boom done! (you will see that in an upcoming video) I am not a big fan of puzzle caches. I kinda despise them. Which is why I have 6 mystery/puzzle caches of my own. Go figure. But they are easy and Red Dwarf related!
You’ve heard of the puzzle spoiler site right?? I’m like you- I suckkkkk at puzzles. I think I’ve done 40? Ish if I were to not be lazy and look at my stats- some done with clues and help of others, some with my dad, some actually on my own- just saw one tiday that if I went there to get the info I’d be able to solve, some I’ve solved like many of us and simply haves driven to find the prize-,half a dozen prob. So, no I know longer have a great stash of answers or simply coords to 30 ish puzzles that a 6 digit find Cacher had given me in my first year- stupidly gave it away. (He didn’t solve them either/ were given to him- a local puzzle called Spider bites made in honor of that drama- that one I did recent go grab and solved back in 2014? Ish when it came out.
Hearing your difficulty almost makes me sorry the first cache I put out will have a number puzzle to solve so you can get to the log. Almost. PS I was a maths teacher.

Thanks, man! I'll pin this to the top. Nice list.
@@Skimbosh Coolio!
Seeing that puppy was the real content.
Yes, yes, I am probably the first person in UA-cam history to exploit an animal for cheap likes and views.

I don't know what I fear more, unsolvable puzzles or social situations that I wasn't in control of instigating.

I'm with you. I'm tired of staring blankly at puzzle questions and not even knowing how to start. I do have quite an extensive 'Ignore List' though 🙂
Mine is growing. Nice that the game has that feature, I tell ya whut.
That pissed off cat reminds me of Steve
Welp, never gonna look at my cat the same way again, thanks!

I think Brent and CC also both said, "much easier to make puzzles than solve them"
@@Skimbosh True that!
I guess I need to order some of those reverberation dampening thingiemaboppers. The corner muzzlers. Sorry if it sounds like I am in a big closet.
Audio is fine from Michigan
As Cache the Line said make puzzles instead. I've got some great ones so I've been told. Can't solve any but can make 'em. Go figure. I have a guy.
Do you have a backup guy that I can have?
Hahaha. If we ever get to come to the U.S. again we'll have to get a team to solve puzzles for us so we can go out together and find them
"Hmm indeed, low is where the ticks are." XD
Generated by the CIA. I know, right? Nice choice using the puppy.
I get that people are just as enthusiastic about ciphers and whatnots as they are about caching itself, but CMON MAN!
Yup I stopped listening after seeing the puppy lol

Aww man, why can't I find someone to give me their puzzle stash?!?
10,000 Geocaches if I still had it I’d gladly send it to you. But I tossed it 🤷♀️and he gave it to me out of the blue.
