Never found one but. Seen it before when I. First started caching when I. Would study & watch any Geocaching video I could find on UA-cam... Knowledge is power and in this Hobby we all love its priceless
Can’t do thank you enough for this- mine is still going strong and getting faves- just wanted to jump on and thank you again, as it had some great logs on Saturday.
Found one of these today. The CO mentioned your UA-cam as her inspiration to build this and another one of yours. Great video, very clear and easy to understand. Thanks.
So when these types of caches are in play, is it customary for the owner to indicate in the description that it's a gadget cash or give any kind of hints that they need to solve this type of puzzle or just put it out there and let them figure it out on their own or not?
Yes I found one like this. It wasn't the final. there was a clue in it to open the next stage. It was put out by NYS parks as part of their annual Geo Challenge. I see you posted this several years ago so maybe this is where they got the idea.
For the most part you are looking at less than $15 US and that might be high. But with prices all over the board right now. I would have to check again.
That's a cool one. We've found something like that we think in the GCC, Geocaching Capital of Canada GeoTour. Even londonwesty could build one of those!
Awesome video, thankyou. Just one question. How have you attached the cord to the tube you pull out? I'm trying to make one but it's not making sense to me lol
@@BehindtheCache yup I've got that far. How does it attach to the pully in the Y pipe? I've tied the knot but the cord is on the outside of the inner tube and makes it tight. Do I need a smaller cord? Thanks for your help :)
@@BehindtheCache I just went to draw you a diagram of what I'd constructed so far (I'm at work so don't have it with me).... and the penny dropped haha. I figured out where I'd gone wrong! Thanks heaps for your cool tutorials and help to the fellow caches!
I’m so going to making this thing. I was wondering how to make one while I found one during the Richmond GeoTour in BC, Canada. This kind is so awesome!
Behind the Cache and did u drill any hold for drainage? And is the top cap the same or a rounded one, and are the pieces glued together? And how far back does the 1 inch piece sit.? Trying to make this work for the cach to come up- what did you use? Only a bison seems to fit thru the front end with that extra piece of pvc in there? I wanted to use a pre form...
kat kaplan you don’t have to because the cap is on the top so you shouldn’t but you always can. I used a inch PCV for the pull to pull the preform out. The short PVC just sat in there not far from the cap when you open it. The other pipe is 1 1/2 inch. I hope this helps.
I saw an amazing variation on this where the CO had attached a fake hand to the cache container, so that when you pulled the string a hand popped out of the top. The CO played it up a bunch on the cache page to make it overall a fun, slightly creepy experience. Sadly, that cache has been removed and archived at his point. Very fun idea, though. Thanks for the demo!
I'm actually in the process of making a simple PVC water displacement cache this week, and the partnership attribute would be a good choice to mark when you make the cache page . It will require 2 or 3 people to retrieve the cache, and the only tools needed is a saw and a drill to make it.
@@BehindtheCache okay so the pill bottle with marbles isn't your cache container then? Its only the counterweight? Because it seems to me that the pull bottle wouldnt go higher than the Y- but if the cache container is on top of the pill bottle I think that would make sense...
I found one like that inside a pecan tree. You had to pull on a brown parachute cord monkey fist knot coming out of a knothole, and the cache appeared coming out of a rotten limb. GC4CAKP. Nice to know how to make one of these now.
To see another easy PVC Gadget cache check out this video ua-cam.com/video/hC3JlBqZxqw/v-deo.html

Yes very true. I love that it doesn't take a lot of time or money to create this cache.
That is cool. I’m gonna build some of those for sure!
Can’t do thank you enough for this- mine is still going strong and getting faves- just wanted to jump on and thank you again, as it had some great logs on Saturday.
I've been looking for a video on how to build this cache! thanks so much!
Great good luck on your build.
Another simple and straight forward easy to make gadget cache!
Yes simple and fun. Just shows that you don't need a lot of tools or money to create a gadget cache.
Super cool im going to make one of these
(Watches video...5 mins later... inside of home depot) Great cache idea. Definitely going to try this one out
Yeah it is a great idea and simple to make.

Great thank you.
Thanks!!!
Thank you for watching.
I really like your gadget cache t-shirt.
Shawn from artedcrafted designed and made it.
Yes, I have found several caches like that. Favorite point every time! Thanks for the instructionals on how to make my own!
Great. Glad you have caught the gadget cache making bug.

Another great video! I've found a few in that style, very enjoyable.
Thank you. I have only found 1 but it seems like there maybe a few more in the world after this video. Lol
if you wanted to make this more discrete, would it work to just use smaller sizes of everything?
Yes you could. Those are always options.
Thanks for the inspiration. I made one and so far it’s got 70% favorite points.
That is awesome. Thanks for letting me know
Seen 'em many times on UA-cam, but never found on in the field. I may have to make one for my area. Thanks for the Tutorial!
Hey your welcome. Still want to get down to your area when all of this stuff settles down.
Yes I found one like this. It wasn't the final. there was a clue in it to open the next stage. It was put out by NYS parks as part of their annual Geo Challenge. I see you posted this several years ago so maybe this is where they got the idea.
AWESOME!! how much do you think the material cost?
Thanks so much for the tutorial.

Great idea!!! Thanks so much!
I’ve never found a cache like that.
Thank you. I can’t take credit for it but love the idea and hope to inspire more creative caches.
Thank you for the inspiration. I just made one and it should be published soon!
Great that is awesome. Do you have a place to hide it yet?
Yes. It is in front of a friend’s yard attached to their fence.
What was the log container? Did the counterweight come out with it?
The log container was a preform. No the counter weight stays in.
Behind the Cache Do you have some great cache names for it?
Well done, thanks for putting this demo together!
That's a cool one. We've found something like that we think in the GCC, Geocaching Capital of Canada GeoTour. Even londonwesty could build one of those!
I hope he does make it. It is a fun one to find.
Awesome video, thankyou. Just one question. How have you attached the cord to the tube you pull out? I'm trying to make one but it's not making sense to me lol
It is tied to the counter weight. When you pull the string it just raises the log container that is sitting on the counter weight.
@@BehindtheCache yup I've got that far. How does it attach to the pully in the Y pipe? I've tied the knot but the cord is on the outside of the inner tube and makes it tight. Do I need a smaller cord? Thanks for your help :)

Thanks for watching. This is a fun cache to make and to find.
Making this cache currently! Cost me $15 for all the parts. I’m doing it a bit differently to suit what we have but same idea. Thankyou very much.
That is great would love to see how you modified it.
Great video! One question - Do you recommend gluing the the pieces together?
Yes I do. One you have everything set glue the ends that you don’t want them to open.
I didn't notice if you capped/covered the top open end? And you said you used 1 1/2 inch and 1 inch pipe, correct?
Yes it was capped. I think it was a 1 inch 1/4. It was just big enough on the inside for the pre-form
Behind the Cache and did u drill any hold for drainage? And is the top cap the same or a rounded one, and are the pieces glued together? And how far back does the 1 inch piece sit.? That is a great variation wish I had seen that.

That is cool I have done one like that and it took 3-4 of us to plug all the holes. It was a lot of fun.
K don't get it, if the chord runs directly from the pill lid up and out the left side of the Y then how does the bottle come out the top?
It is like a pull-up. The bottle that the string is on is too big to make the turn and the log container is just comes straight up
@@BehindtheCache okay so the pill bottle with marbles isn't your cache container then? Its only the counterweight? Because it seems to me that the pull bottle wouldnt go higher than the Y- but if the cache container is on top of the pill bottle I think that would make sense...
Yes that is correct
Also, does the 1" tube attach to the cap? Or do you have to open the cap and reach in to pull the 1" and raise the cache?
I found one like that inside a pecan tree. You had to pull on a brown parachute cord monkey fist knot coming out of a knothole, and the cache appeared coming out of a rotten limb. GC4CAKP. Nice to know how to make one of these now.
That is cool. I like how they used the environment that it was going into.
I just built one. Thanks for the idea. My only problem is coming up with a name!! Open to suggestions!!
Yeah that can be the hardest part. Glad I could help.
simple, have not seen anything quite like that
It is a fun little cache.
@@BehindtheCache so many idea's lack of placed to put them
I built this one and put it in the field on 11/10/20. 54% favorite points so far. Thanks for the great ideas. GC92HEA
That is awesome 👏
