Lol, I think Moffat must've spent more time caring about (and simultaneously messing up) Sherlock in his less important capacity than giving a toss about that programme he's the actual *show-runner* of. Now both are lame...
I admire Moffat a lot; he's done some banging stories. But everything feels wrong nowadays.
I think he's just run out of steam, took on too much responsibility, he could probably do with a holiday.

I stopped watching Dr Who when Capaldi came in...nothing against the actor himself, but I was worried it was gonna go downhill - do you think it has?
Eve Middleton It's comparatively weak compared to everything made before 2011, but to me it's been in a steady decline since season 6 so, it's only gonna get worse from here I'm predicting.
Capaldi was indeed the beginning of the end for this iteration of Dr. Who. His ponderous, lecturing, monotonous-character, angry-professor delivery was absolutely his only mode for both his seasons. For two years as Dr. Who, he appeared only capable of being annoyed all the time. The writing for his two seasons, on the whole, was atrocious, the best episode of seasons 8 or 9 pales in comparison to even minor episodes of earlier seasons. The entire Capaldi period was the lowest low-point for Dr. Who.

Peter Capaldi is the Colin Baker of our generation, a great actor with lots of potential for a Doctor but sadly stuck with poorly written messes that they dare call stories.
I watched every single episode of Doctor Who (except for that really stupid episode in season 2) and I loved every doctor...but the last doctor who episode I watched was The Girl who Lived in season 9. I haven’t watched the 2nd half, or any of season 10 (except Harry’s reviews. I’ve been binge watching the shit out of his doctor who reviews).
So...I didn’t like/watch season 9 or 10. But I will say, from what I’ve seen on Twitter, I’m excited to watch 11x1 with Jodie (it’s set to air on my tv next Sunday. I missed the day it first aired unfortunately)

I've not watched Doctor Who for years but when I saw this on TV I was genuinely embarrassed.
You've earned my sub. Your style of reviews and commentary is hilarious and really entertaining! Even if I don't agree =) I loved this episode. It felt light hearted, truly different from the norm and a hilarious parody of superhero genre.

That'd be "The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe" for me. The main problem with "Doctor Mysterio" is that it's not very Christmassy, but it's quite a good story in its own right.

I would like to add a note to the shutters.
The glass might be able to resist a nuclear shock wave but you still need to do something about the radiation. those shutters might be made of lead or a material like that that blocks radiation.

5:25 I think that it’s just to show the audience that it’s a strong building showing the ghosts power and foreshadows the end of the episode and the Aliens plan of using the buildings as shelters (and showing the entire world how strong they are) to lure in world leaders

It’s funny that 3 years ago these were the complaints we had, that’s the show was rehashing some ideas and was a bit cheesy and non sensical at times and now we’ve got s11 and s12

The only thing that I really didn't like about this episode was the amount and the absurd strong of the Ghost powers. Like for Ashildr immortality... They're both great characters, but the explanation behind how they've became so powerful is just a little bit weak for me.

I think its better that Nardole spoke into his Jacket and not in a Walky talky because a walky talky would be more obvious and so it is more stealthy. I really like Matt Lucas and his humor and was happy he was in the show for a while :)
I almost watched all your Doctor who reviews and are on my way to watch them all. In many times I agree with your opinion but sometimes I have a completely different opinion than you have in your videos, but I think that's normal and human because every taste is different. Sometimes a little more research could help because in some party you say stuff which isn't quite right but it was explained in the show at some point.

Well presented, I'm no Doctor Who fan but you kept me engaged throughout. One thing that bugged me is at 3:13 you say how he slowed down the pace and asked a question 'about a little boy's room' but I have no clue what that was meant to mean, maybe playing the scene, cutting it up a bit to fit the pacing of your video could've provided context? That was the only thing that stood out to me, which is good! Good use of music, and not going overboard on the memes is refreshing. Who are your inspirations, if any?

For me , this was probably the worst hour of television that I've ever sat through and I think it was a new low for Doctor who. The story was just so mind-numbingly dull and pointless. The aliens weren't interesting at all and Moffat just ripped off the Slitheen's plan from series 1 as you alluded to in the video; the superhero story was equally uninteresting and uninspired; having the kid swallow the crystal was idiotic (an 8 year old would not swallow a foreign object like a toddler for fuck's sake!); Nardole stuck out like a sore thumb and I think it's really stupid to have him as a companion for series 10 and to top it all off, we had some casual racism with that Pokemon "joke". Can we please just skip to the Chibnall era now?

Ah yes, because a big boom, like say... a nuclear bomb (or four) going off wouldn't produce a large flash that could probably flash boil your eyeballs if you looked at it... and it's not like pressure and force equations would matter at all.
Large explosion, the force would spread out and the glass equally disperse the energy... but a projectile hitting the glass at that same force, all the energy focused on a small point...

No matter how hard I tried to like Capaldi, his episodes were just so bad. You'd get a good story once in a blue moon and then the next week would be diabolical. THIS on Christmas day was so underwhelming compared to the Tennant days. I'm not surprised that everyone I know stopped watching the show.

At the time I also noticed the lack of originality in the plot. I immediately saw the similarities to Aliens of London/World War 3 which frustrated me. Overall, I did like this episode though because it was light-hearted fun and I thought the characters and superhero idea were good for a one-off. It didn't feel like dr who and in retrospect it wasn't very good writing but at the tikme it was fun to watch. Hopefully Series 10 is great.

Quick not but product placement or advertising is not allowed on the BBC as it is publicly funded which is why you will often hear them say other brands are available after taking about a brand or product and why marvel and DC are given roughly the same prominence in the episode they probably just wanted to talk about reale superheroes than ones they'd made up
