    so i followed this instructions and when i dropped my chain into the bottom end and then fished it out, the chain was somehow not long enough, anyone doing this on an aged bike (I have an 04) should be careful. I had my chain somehow fall around the metal guard that is bolted in the bottom end with an 8mm bolt. To fix it was easy though, but took me a while to figure it out cuz i had to drain the oil and coolant once again after refilling and pull the cover off with the stator, I then proceeded to attempt to figure out why the chain was not going up high enough and after several attempts to get it around that metal I ended up breaking a piece off the case trying to pull up on the chain, it was a little fin next to the oil return, so I thought I had to remove the flywheel. To get it off the metal I rotated my flywheel around which had certain holes in it and found the bolt holding the metal piece, unbolted it so the metal would rotate and the chain was free and was able to time it back up.

      Man, that is tough. Could be a couple things. Check the wiring and make sure your connections are good and nothing is shorted. You could also remove the starter and test it or make sure the engine turns over freely by hand.

    I have a 2012 400x with a 440 big bore. Is it an identical process to this? Is there a way I can find a big bore rebuild kit? Or do I just buy a completely new big bore kit?

    • @vipelink
      @vipelink 4 роки тому

      No the process is not identical. Yours is an air cooled bike for starters. The general idea is the same, but your engine is actually a little simpler. You will need everything new except a cylinder, that’s the most expensive pice anyway. You can get away with just a piston, rings, and new gaskets.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 роки тому +1

      Race quads like the TRX450R are being ridden hard and pushed to their max constantly . A generator is designed to run at way lower RPM's and not be under a lot of strain at any time, which lets them last much longer.

      Hi. It won't matter which side of the expander ring faces up (M, W). If it did, Honda would specify that in the manual. Just make sure that it's not overlapping itself, and that the gap of each ring doesn't line up with another gap. Honda specifies that the side-rail gaps should be spaced by 20mm or more. I have seen a side-rail that was damaged on installation that caused a new top end to smoke. Take your time and use caution during assembly and you should be fine. Let us know how it goes, and thanks for the comment! -Charles
