Apparently none one if you Google homemade cocktail sauce because EVERY recipe require ketchup as a base. Unless you think you are better than the chef and want to make your own ketchup from scratch and then you do you. But you would be surprised how many people don't know how to cook period. So when it come to shrimp, you can so easily turn it to chewing rubber or cold slimy raw if cook wrong .not everyone know how to take off the shell or devein a shrimp either

Thanks for the tip with added sugar. I will definitely try this recipe. I’ve been trying to find that perfect shrimp with a slight sweetness but haven’t succeeded. Maybe the touch of sugar is what I’ve been missing.
I have used this technique numerous times and I think it yields the most tender, flavorful shrimp I've ever had.....and nothing beats homemade cocktail sauce....but here's a secret....add 1/8 tsp of ground cinnamon to your cocktail sauce...the cinnamon deepens the flavor similar as to how a tsp of cinnamon deepens the spices in a pot of chili (if you've never added cinnamon to chili...try it and thank me later), but seriously, it takes it to a whole new level. Your sauce tastes richer, and nobody knows it is cinnamon, you can't taste it at all.
. don't drop them in boiling water. Start with your recipe and shrimp in cold water then bring them up to temp. Much more tender as the proteins don't seize up in boiling water.
I was once told that a Mirepoix should be used when boiling the shrimp to give them the flavor. I didn't have all the ingredients, so I went by your recipe. They turned out great! Thanks! The only thing is that I didn't have any tabasco or horseradish to spice up the cocktail sauce, so I used ground red pepper and that worked very well.

valarya, that's the correct way to put a lemon in the squeezer.
you can put the lemons in the microwave for 10-15 secs and all the juice will come off when you squeeze them :)
