I was looking for a philodendron sodiroi plant and I share how I go about searching for the right plant and tips and tricks I do to filter through all the possibilities. I also share the unboxing with you on what I ordered! It was a lot of fun filming this online plant shopping video and I can't wait to do another one!

I'm so glad I'm seeing this video now. I just ourchased my first plant order online and the plant I got were WAY smaller than I was expecting...I thought it was just me but now I'm seeing that it is def something to pay attention to when ordering online! P.S. mine were tiny and def not ready to deal with the stress of shipping!
Pictures can be very deceiving! I love when sellers show the actual size with a ruler! I try to compare against other objects in the photos but a lot of the times they are much smaller and the angles make them appear bigger 😅

I have just started ordering some plants from Etsy and enjoyed watching your method for selecting a plant. I live in NE so will wait till spring for any more mail orders. Just can't trust the weather.
Thank you so much! It's definitely risky to order when the weather is cold. I used to order a lot more plant mail and during cold weather it was rough! You definitely have to expect to rehab a plant if necessary. Some of them do just fine if they're packaged well and with a heat pack but the shipping delays over the holiday was the worst time!
That’s certainly a beautiful plant. I think you you made a good deal for what you paid for it. And that it came from close to you was a benefit. Just remember you can always get a heat pack from most sellers.

I'm an Etsy seller (not of plants) and I promise you that your "free" shipping is (most of the time) added into the cost of your product. And if you buy multiple things, you may end up paying more money overall because shipping of those multiple items would more than likely cost less than the built in cost (ex if I sold my candles with $9 each built in for shipping you pay $18 for "free" shipping when the cost would be like $11 shipping for 2 after they're boxed together and weighed).
Also, while star seller is good, there are a lot of shops that may not have star seller that just can't reach some of Etsy's required metrics (such as the minimum dollar amount/minimum number of sales that shops are required to meet. Someone could meet the minimum dollar amount for higher priced items but not meet the total number of sales required. That doesn't mean they're not a good seller though, ya know?).
Anyway, feel free to ignore me, just have noticed that in general people who aren't an Etsy shop owner don't know the ins and outs of some of the behind the scenes things.
And unrelated, your plant is lovely! I am excited to see it grow for you!

Fun fact: other plants keep coming up likely because the sellers are keyword stuffing-tagging irrelevant plants to their listings! Kind of a shady tactic but they do it because it keeps them “relevant” in search 🙃 as someone in digital marketing, i know this is a big no-no and definitely something etsy should crack down on
