Astra k. 2018 Problems - Infotainment Screen Issue

- The car is from May 2018, but the problem came suddenly dec. 2019
It lasts 2-5 min, but the screen is still not itself afterwards; The light / contrasts flicker, sometimes up and down in light intensity, even in the "off" state it blinks.
The screen is just like split into 2, normal on the left, wrong / lighter on the right.
I've been trying to reboot the whole system, taking the minus off the battery for half an hour, but without solving the problem.

Det varer 2-5min, men skærmen er stadig ikke sig selv bagefter; Lyset/kontrasterne flakker, nogle gange op og ned i lys styrke, selv ved "slukket" tilstand blinker det.
Bilen er fra maj 2018, men problemet kom pludselig dec. 2019
Skærmen er ligesom delt op i 2, normal i venstre side, forkert/lysere i højre.

Same issue. Dealer's quote was almost £1000 so I emailed Vauxhall which offered to pay 70%, I would pay 30% which was £345. This is still a lot of money so I declined. Update: I received the following from the Head Office: We have discussed your case with Advance Motors, High Wycombe and together we are happy to contribute 90% towards the cost of a new radio and labour leaving yourself to cover the remaining 10%. I'm very happy with the assistance I have received from Mr Kevin Flynn. It shows they do care about the reputation and customer service. High Wycombe is the dealer where I have my car serviced regularly though.
My 2017 Elite Nav just starting having issue with half screen a dull grey colour. Other half appears to be split again into two parts with first quartile fine and second quartile poor resolution. Is it best to act now before it dies completely? Should I get an Ali Express replacement? screen?
I read online that the Ali express screens aren’t that great an even after somebody had replaced the screen the issue continued

eBay unfortunately……. If you lucky might get cheaper if the seller sells it for less then asking price. Got my one for £280 from £350…..

I have a 16 plate astra and it's doing the same. I changed the screen to night time permanently which helped for a few weeks but now it's even worse!

I have the same problem since about 2 weeks ago. Opel tells me they will need to replace the whole unit, costing me 1330 Euro. These people must be insane if they think I'm paying almost 10% of the value of my car for a radio.
I've found a repair shop that says they'll fix/replace it for up to 70% cheaper (no price on the website, so calling them tomorrow to ask) and 2 years warranty.
Alternatively, a third party android based unit that's designed for the Astra K. Anyone have any experience with these?
Whatever I decide, Opel just lost 2 costumers. I've always had all my repairs and checks at the official Opel dealer. My brother bought the hatchback version because he loved my sports tourer. But now we're both looking for other cars, thanks to Opel.

Exactly the same issue ! 2016 Vauxhall Astra SRi - Vauxhall want £89 to diagnose fault ! I spoke with the main dealer and they said that Vauxhall would only consider contributing if I'd had it serviced with them...unfortunately I haven't. Clearly it's an inherent problem with the intellilink 900 but I can't afford the sort of money being talked about for repairs... I could cry :-(

Just had the same problem. I’m deffo not paying Vauxhall for their faulty product they will need to fix it. Els I just won’t ever buy Vauxhall again which is a shame because I am genuinely very happy with their product.
Hi! Did you find a solution for this? I have the same problem with my Astra K since this weekend...I also noticed the right side of the screen (the one that starts blinking) is warmer than it should be.
Yes! It was still on warranty, so the dealer had to change it/ the screen.

La soluzione più economica è quella di cambiare solo lo schermo lcd ( si trova sui 40/50), non è difficilissimo da fare ma neppure facile. la seconda alternativa è quella di cambiare tutto il blocco schermo lcd+ touch ( sui 150€) perché assemblato ed è più semplice da montare
I had mine do the same and got it replaced last July and now my left side of the screen don’t work and they said due to my warranty running out in July they said it will cost me £700 just for the screen and then fitting added on top Vauxhall need to sort it out and recall the product
There must be some warranty on the screen, that they put in on July?....
Per Hansen July 2019 I had it put in and it started to develop the problem the start of lockdown

Mine was still on warranty, so the dealer had to change the screen. No problem after that 👍
There are some video here on UA-cam, how to change it, it's not that difficult.

There's obviously a common problem with this screen that Vauxhall should sort out. Let's get Watchdog involved!!
Vauxhall have offered to pay 60% to replace the screen, but that still means I have to pay £500! Yes a replacement is £1,100!!!!
Definitely is my 2017 Astra k has started to do this I do have rac warrant that says electrical an mechanical components are covered so hopefully it is covered in that

Hi I have a 16 plate Astra with a 8 inch sceen that has just went blank a week ago.
I can still touch screen to change things like radio channels but can not see what im pressing so touching screen still works.

Try to "reset / reboot" the radio by unplugging the ground cable for 30 min. It may not work, but it's worth to try

But, I would check all cables to the radio, when you have the radio out.
Before that, i would talk to a Vauxhall dealer, maybe we're you bought, - if it's a wauxhall dealer?..

I have a 66 plate Astra and several months outside the 3 year warranty the same thing happened to me, followed by the screen going blank and not returning. Vauxhall quoting me £700 for a new screen.
Easy fix . Sod paying 700 on vauxhal got quot of the same. Lol in the end it cost me 65 for screen off a crashed astra. Plug it in great stuff even had all my radio station s etc on it.

This is a Common problem i replace my one a year ago. I bought it second hand from Motorhog for
£ 80. And I changed myself because Vauxhall they want a lot of money

This is a known fault. The early Astra k models use sharp LCD that only have 3 to 4 year use life. The newer Astra k have LG LCDs. I bought a replacement LCD from China and followed the Polish guys video on UA-cam. Fairly easy to do to replace screen

So Iam a lucky one. My Display is now over 7 Years old. And today its began with this crap.
I actually had this problem recently. I'm from Portugal , no warranty on my Opel Astra K 2016 1.6 TDI , went to Opel , talked with them and showed them the problem. They said that a new LCD was 1300€ , I refused to pay and ask them to contact Opel and see if they could help me out since it wasn't an issue caused my misuse. Opel actually came back and said they would pay for everything. Got lucky

100% same problem, the right half of my Display flickers as well. Opel said they'd have to send in the Display unit with expected repair costs of about 500 Euros

Habe mir das Auto gekauft -
Anfangs mega begeistert und dann:
Ging auf der Autobahn das Kupplungspedal nicht mehr hoch (hat Opel auf Kulanz gerichtet, Material Kosten musste ich selber zahlen, ca. 500€),
danach Rückrufaktion wegen der Bremse,
der Lenker schält sich auch (es hieß, man soll halt keine Handcreme benutzen)
und jetzt Bildschirm (laut Opel kostet dies 1300€)
Nach 165.000 km, mit der Steuerkette Probleme (kostet laut Opel 3.000€)
Ich Frage mich, was als nächstes kommt
6 Jahre Garantie, auf NICHTS

bei mir sind es exakt die selben Sachen. Kupplung wurde mehrfach gerichtet, es wird aber nie richtig in Ordnung...bleibt unten hängen. Display nun das zweite mal defekt. Lenkrad komplett billig Plastik was sich abschält

If you search properly u will be able to find video here on you tube where Polish lad purchased lcd only (not whole unit) and show step by step how to do it by yourself. Screen itself cost between 130 to 180 pounds.
What a shame foe OPEL / Vauxhal to make an expensive car from cheap components :( I encountered the same problem. Also had to replace the motor chain at 150k km!? Also have a permanent error light on the LED lights management even though they work OK. I am quite disappointed in the longevity of life of the components in this car :((

Even though it was almost in guarantee no one cared from opel to replace it .

Is it possible you could send me a template of the email you sent to vauxhall? This is now happening to mine and I've been quoted over £1k :( but I literally don't know what to write in an email lol
l'm having the same problem and my 2017 crossland has a full service history and the dealership has established that it's a manufacturing problem but vauxhall insist on contributing only 30% which leaves me with 70% approx 900 pounds for the bill. Shouldn't we do something like flooding their social media or contacting an investigative journalist? I'm sad that more and more people are falling into this trap when it's an ongoing problem which they're aware of. In anyone wants to join me in taking this further please like this comment

Sorry to hear, bad that opel/vauxhall, don't cover it 100 %. Clearly bad or cheap screens they use.
You can easily shift it yourself, if you deare, and wont to save some money, look on UA-cam.

I have the same issue with my screen that’s in this video, luckily I have rac warranty that covers electrical issues etc so they are replacing the unit however if I didn’t have that the quote was £1440 just for the infotainment unit, I think we should Definitely question them as this is a defo a fault as I’ve read multiple pages of people having the exact same issue with both the Astra an crosslander

Mines just started flickering this morning Astra CDti Sri 65 plate 05/08/21 what an absolute joke really discusses me seeing all these comments, there is obviously a very big problem with them.
Mine just started doing this 2023 wish i could get onto developer options and reprogramme this, otherwise vauxhall should automatically replace every failed unit as standard. Have no warrenty left on car its 6 years old. I only buy Astra's have had every model i show loyalty so should they. Will be coming into money very soon so if they want me to continue purchasing their brand they need to fix up or give me a great part-x price with guarentee on the infotainment😡😡😡🤬😡

Opel Astra K Ultimate from 2019 (prefacelift)
Today 49.000 Km (30.000 Miles) and first startet with not responding Navi, after turning off and on again normal. Not today exact behaviour shown in video, then sometimes on half bride, other darker, and colours like old cheap VGA Graphics... contacting dealer soon..

Did you change the LCD module or you found some fault in electronics that can be repaired? Im am from Croatia so if you tell me your solution, I can't steel your job :D.

@@DjSwiftxxx yes I did, I changed just the screen, electronics and touch panel was left original. The screen was around 100$ from ebay.
It makes me sick when I see how many people have the same problem, including me... This intellilink failed for sure.. Mine screen now doesnt blink like yours any more but I have now all black screen, opel wants 1300€ for repair.. Now I am searcing for someone to repair that for cheaper price...
Hello. Did you fix your Navi900? I need to ask you if by the time your screen got black, you still could here music from the radio or not? I may have the same problem as you. In my case I have no sound at all and I don't know if is the screen or is the motherboard. To me all started with half of the screen little grey. Thanks.
@@florinmanaila4131 yes i fixed so that I bought a new lcd from aliexpress 😄 it works fine. When I have got the black screen I could also hear the music. So I dont think you have the same problem if you dont hear even the music

What a crap of car.. last week i had an oil leaking and car have only 85000km… 2000 euros with timing chain cost me repair…. and this week navi start to blinking like on this video…also check engine light is on from 3 weeks ago….egr problems they want for repair about 2000 and for navi 1300 what the hell am i driving?
