We literally just rolled our windows down on the motorway and squeezed the seals with our fingers cause the noise was doing our heads in and we have a long trip ahead haha it worked! Thanks
Damn I just did it while driving down the highway, now I can hear the radio again.. huge drop in sound. Thought this 800 mile trip was going to drive me insane.
hahahaha thanks for the beard trick. I laughed my ass off. and Thanks for making the video straight to the point
its nice to know that its so easy to fix this problem after 1500km one shot road trip in noisy impreza :)
Thanks for this! FYI, Japanese (JIS) screwdrivers will help prevent stripping those Phillips heads. The JIS version is built differently and grips better. I stripped screws on Japanese motorcycles for decades before learning this.
I replaced those in my 04 Forester. It made the care drivable again. Thanks for the video.
Dude yeah that beard switch was tripping me up
Didn't realise till half way through that your facial hair kept changing OMG 🤣 great guide, thanks!
Thank you for this vid. My parents was strugling for years with this wind noise. Fixed this in one hour.
Glad it helped!
There's no need to remove the mirrors, and any pliers with relatively broad "jaws" will work, I've seen people effectively do it with their hands.
The gussets don't "wear" as such, they get bent out of shape due to people pushing on the window to close the doors. Being a "frameless" design, if you push on the glass all the stress goes into that small gusset, and it distorts the metal. If you can train yourself (and family I guess?) to always never push on the glass, it'll never happen again
this video is so short but perfect! thanks for the great content. bought a '06 forester recently and this is the first video i found in attempt to end the noise.
Did it work?
thank you so much for posting this video! i had the same exact noise you described in my Subaru Forester 2005 and i followed your instructions and while I could not get the screw out because it wore through I was still able to tighten the clamp over the top and successfully fixed the issue!
I could only get one of the screws out. The other 5 stripped out and ended up punching a hole through the door so I had to buy a whole new door! When installing the new door it smashed my subframe so now I'm looking for a donor car or maybe a whole new car because I don't even like Subaru. Remember to lube those screws. Thanks for the vid!
Love the on and off hair/beard/mustache looks 😁
I've been wanting to fix this for so long! Thank you
Fantastic video! Will be trying on my Forester for sure! Thank you!
Gr8 vid and even better fix , I've had the car for a short time and the wind noise is the only thing I disliked about it. Thanks :)
Hell yeah man. Great fix
Perfect fix. Thanks man🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Great idea! Thanks
You sir are a Jedi!!!😊
I was only able to get 3 out of 6 screws out. I was starting to strip a few and didn't want to push it any further. Wish I would have seen the JIS Screwdriver tip before I started. Oh well. I still was able to get the job done with both mirrors attached and using the vice grips!
Thanks, the wind noise is terrible on mine, job for the weekend!
thank you so much
for removing those screws try a JIS screwdriver. I have been working on Japanese cars for 40 years and just recently found out the screws probably are not phillips, but JIS
JIS is needed, not WD-40.
Thank you very much. wolfmut
Bro twins for real haha I have a silver forester with a 6 speed and a black evo!!
I have same problem on 2001 outback only if I go over 70 mph
Where did you get the tweeter and cover
I have a single screw that isn't coming out. Tried to use WD-40 and JIS 2 screwdriver but no luck. Any advice?
thank you man
👍
@@BoostedFilms just did it to my 04 fozzie xt, appreciate the help
2022 Corolla have similar issue with wind noise.
No videos online on how to fix that.
I'm disappointed the beard wasn't bushier!!
Why do only two of the three mirror screws have a plastic cap over it? Why not cap or cover all three screws?
Nice hair 😉
Exact
@boostedfilms ive done about all the techniques including yours just pressing hard together with hands.. not sure if i suceeded.. i mean it seems like at 100km/h theres less overall wind noise but at 120 its still quite strong. guess its better. did u manage to eliminate the wind noise all together or just partially like 70%?
You can shim the window with a bit of adhesive Silicone Door seal. Eliminates the wind noise and you can still have baller frameless doors.

I just used regular pliers and didn’t remove the mirror. I narrowed the gap more then shown in the video and it fixed the wind noise. Thanks
I tried it but I couldn't get the middle screw out... what should I do now
I changed gussets still noise
Bye! ✋
genius
you for president Paul !
thanks a lot
Still Goes back to shit after a while ..
Use a bigger screw driver on the mirror. All I have to say. Thanks.
its JIS screws. I should have used a JIS screw bit.
@@BoostedFilms right. But in general those short screw drivers don’t provide a lot of torque. I fixed mine with only removing the inside cover. Took five minutes max both sides
jeez I have been bothered by this for so long
