man eres super bueno, tu hiciste el comercial de gatorade, si tu lo hiciste te quedo super chido enséñanos como lo hiciste, saludos y muchas gracias por tu ayuda y aporte
Hola Alberto! No fui el quien hizo el comercial original. Mi meta para este tutorial fue descubrir como hicieron algunos de los efectos y despues añadir mi propio estilo.
Thank you for sharing this technique! It's super clear! i just didn't get one thing: why did you subtract the half of the size in the code line? Because it may be a recurring mistake I've been doing in other projects without understanding it. You would save me, thank you!
You're welcome!! A null object will use the position that starts in the upper left corner of a composition. Don't know why createpaths uses one that starts at 0,0 in the center of a composition. There's an offset that needs to be compensated to make it work correctly with nulls. Thats why we subtract half the value in x and y because at the center of a comp it's exactly midway. It's a little difficult to explain but the best way to understand is to play around with the values in the createpaths function!
Great question! The createpaths function starts at the center of the composition. To make it work correctly with nulls, we need to adjust the position. If we subtract by half x and y value, we adjust the position to work with a center coordinate. Hope this makes sense!
C.M. de la VEGA thanks for the quick reaction. It doesn’t make sense to me. Does it work that way for every createpath? What happens if we don’t subtract anything? Thanks in advance amigo...keep up the good work!

I HAVE A QUESTION IN FIRST THAT WHY DIDNT THE ROPE DISTRACT THAT MARKER???? BECAUSE THE ROPE REVOLVING TOO FAST OR THERE IS ANY OTHER REASON???! MUST RELPLY
The rope never crossed the tracker or if it came close, there was some blur due to the slow shutter from the camera and it was not enough to distract the tracker. If it did, you can always fix it manually.
It's been a journey learning VFX. It started by reading a book I checked out at the library called Special Effects: The History and Technique - www.amazon.com/Special-Effects-Technique-Richard-Rickitt/dp/0823077330/ - from there it's been experimenting and trying on my own. I would shoot small shorts or video clips and try to practice pulling off the effect.

Absolutely amazing! But wouldn’t it be easier to use the track motion, then masking pen, then the saber plug in?
Thank you!! Possibly... I have to see if AE allows X,Y coordinates for masks.
