i just bought a 2013 S60 T6 AWD on thursday. the drive from cali to az was so nice. im very happy with it. its my 3rd volvo. s70 t5 and 850 glt previously.
I'm surprised he didn't like the seats. I've heard nothing but great stuff about seats. Good to see they upped the tech in the car. I almost bought the older T6 but opted for a CTS-V Wagon instead.
No, not thumbs down. I'm also 6'2" and the seats are too short for me. The cushion pad is soft and comfy, but the seat design doesn't fit my body size.
LOTS of incorrect info here. 1.) There are two transmissions, not 1. The 8-speed automatic in this car is ONLY available with Volvo's new Drive-E 2.0 4-cyl engines. 2.) This particular car is the Drive-E T6, which is the Turbo&Supercharged 2.0. The OTHER Drive-E engine is the Drive-E T5, which is just a turbo 4-cyl. Both of the Drive-E engines come with FWD ONLY. IF, you want AWD you will have to go with Volvo's older (but still available) 5 and 6-cyl engines. 3.) The T6 R-Design mentioned is an inline turbo 3.0 6-cyl making 325HP/354 lb-ft. 4.) IF you want the T5 with AWD then you will be getting the older 2.5 inline turbo 5-cyl. 5.) IF you want a T5 with FWD, you will be getting the Drive-E T5 which is a 2.0 Turbo 4-cyl with 240 HP/260 lb-ft. 6.)IF you get one of the Drive-E engines you're basically getting a FWD only with an 8-speed auto. If you want one of the older 5 and 6-cyl engines then you'll have AWD and the older 6-speeds.
Of course, this all changed for the 2017? Model year. You could then get the 2 l turbo T5 drive E with all-wheel drive. I'm not sure about the t6 drive E drivetrain. Also... Rest in peace 5 and 6 cylinder cars.
MJ22 Because their styling/appearance comes off as safe and that's not just from me. I can ask all my Canadian peeps and I guarantee you 7-9 of 10 would be like meh or it just doesn't grab me in anyway. Agressive look is an overstatement. It's more aggressive looking for a Volvo is what he meant to say I presume.
Volvo came out with the hands free driver assistance system that allows you to take your eyes off the road and it’s called ride pilot but it’s only available in California so you guys at CNET should make a video about it and try it out
Maybe they forgot to add that during editing. However, when Cooley says that he turns it off, it means that he thinks that it isn't smooth and/or fast.
GM was also planning to do the same with the speed limit indicators. They were also researching and developing the technology, but in the 2020s, it might be the new standard.
You say it doesn't look like a Volvo but it looks very much like a Volvo of that era. People have different views of Volvos. But nowadays, they're expensive SUVS, the Xc60 and Xc90 are the cars that define Volvo now more than anything to most people. In 2015, it wasn't that much different, but the SPA Volvo's weren't out yet which took Volvo to a new level of elegance. I think people should drive one over bumps and come to their own conclusions. I think as long as the tires aren't the biggest offered and the pressures aren't too high, they have a typical European ride.
You can't get the 2 liter 4 cylinder in the R-Design. That steps you up to a turbo inline 6 with 20 more hp and 60 ft/lbs more torque. These 2.0 Drive-E engines (T5/T6 Drive-E FWD) cannot be had with AWD. You must get the old 5 pot and 6 pot turbo's to get AWD
Getting a sense of VW 4 door coupe in the front...How could Volvo mess with their supremely front buckets in a car that gets so much right? Interesting combo of supercharging and turbo...always a great review, thx.
All the car's stats are false ,the car is approximately 1600kg not 2 tonnes and the 0-60 is 5.4 ,the stats you told are from the old inline 6 cylinder engine
Paid 3500$ for my 01 t5.. the guy I bought it from had it making 407 hp to the wheels.. it's pretty clean inside and out and is blacked out so it looks pretty dope, but it will 0-60 in about 4 seconds and hit around 175 mph so it gets me from a to b. As far as all the tech crap it's Def got some even for a 2001 but I really don't care about all that, I like simple. These new models you basically need a pilots license to drive
Umm.... if it is a sporty car.... umm.... yes.... you are going to feel the bumps? that is why the suspension is tight what kind of reviewer are you to NOT know that?
I've driven this model,I've also driven the R-DESIGN what a MACHINE!!! woooow, total sleeper when it comes to power off the line,I've also driven shelbys/camaro's,this volvo is amazing, but I would take the R-MODEL
The 4k lbs is attributed to the battery pack located underneath the body. True or am I full of beans? See the you.tube video made by Volvo that showcases the new Drive-E line of engines. This may be a deal breaker for me because I don't trust any car that needs a battery pack.
Wow you went on an impressive misinformation spree at around the 4 minute mark! 0-60 takes 5.6 seconds officially, the car weighs 3470 lbs, and the car used regular 87 octane not 'premium, definitely.' I sell these, it's my job to know.
Styling is good but dated Tech overall is great Drive wise is meh but I only had it for a day But this would def be a car more people should look into overall
That previously was accurate. Now T6 = twin charged 4. T8 now equals twin charged 4 + electric motors. Previously T8 equaled naturally aspirated V8. So the naming hasn't been consistent. More like trim levels.
i have one D3 model what they did with suspension that all bumps detect like riding bicycle without absorbers if suspension was better this car realy be close brands like audi or bmw
Tiny tiny nav screen. I like the waterfall design of the center console, but the execution in the end is entirely too bland for me. Too much unused space which isn't pretty to look at in my view. If it were glossy wood, veneer, then it becomes more the traditional luxury console I like. Also, I don't like the animated demonstrations of the tech packages. Show and review whether it really works or let it rest. Just don't praise it without backing it up. Factory-standard marketing animations have no meaning in an honest review.
I must be in the minority in thinking that the previous s60's front end looked much better. The new headlights make this look extremely bland and forgettable.
Volvo is only owned by the company, they have nothing to do with production. The car is assembled and designed in Sweden and Belgium. And yeah mouthies3 Tata, owns Range Rover. Mercedes, BMW, etc all have production plants in Mexico, China, Taiwan, U.S and all other parts of the world. As far as I know, Volvo builds its cars/trucks in Europe.
All volvos look so boring both inside and outside. No emotions. It maybe safe but thats probably the only reason to for this instead of something like 3-sieries.
Dumbest shit ever said: i don't like the seat bolsters touching me...... Really? Ever been in a dang BMW? Also "suspension transfers too much. Road moves an inch and u move ab inch." Again see BMW
That... is TOO much car... Supercharge and Turbo? 300hp out of 2L? Thats too much... thats 150hp/L... smh.. should have done a 3.5L v6 300hp engine instead...
+Hesam0000 you sir, are an idiot spreading FUD Geely provides money for development, the cars are made in Torslanda in Sweden and Gent in Belgium. it is true there is a new volvo factory in china, but that is for the local market, and now they are building a new factory in the USA.
I absolutely love the S60's and S80's, they always look stunning and they have amazing tech!
👍👍👍👍👍
volvo has some of the most comfortable seats in the world
Exactly
i just bought a 2013 S60 T6 AWD on thursday. the drive from cali to az was so nice. im very happy with it. its my 3rd volvo. s70 t5 and 850 glt previously.

This facelift is good! I think now the car looks great, I didn't liked the led light position before. But since they move it down that helps a lot.
Take this over a 3 series, no kidding.
First person I've ever heard to complain about the seats in a Volvo... thumbs down.
IKR. Volvo has best seats in the industry.
Cooley is a bit inconsistent with his reviews, in his other S60 reviews he mentioned he loved the seats, but in this one he said he hates it.
He probably drove a 2013/2014 with standard seats. This specific 2015 has sport seats
Pretty sure the test car here has the optional sport seats.
No, not thumbs down. I'm also 6'2" and the seats are too short for me. The cushion pad is soft and comfy, but the seat design doesn't fit my body size.

security , technology , agressive look .. why people don't like volvo so much
MJ22 Because their styling/appearance comes off as safe
and that's not just from me. I can ask all my Canadian peeps
and I guarantee you 7-9 of 10 would be like meh or it just doesn't
grab me in anyway.
Agressive look is an overstatement. It's more aggressive looking

MJ22 absolutely ugly car inside and out. Ridiculously small cabin and extremely bland center console. Just, really, really bad.
LulzRoyce I agree. They are basically living on Name. If only hyundai or Kia could of bough volvo in stead of the chinese.
+Tampa0123456789 More comfy then bmw, and highest score in euro ncap for every new car.
+yamahaevo The S60 interior is much nicer than the current 3 series, which looks cheap imo
Volvo came out with the hands free driver assistance system that allows you to take your eyes off the road and it’s called ride pilot but it’s only available in California so you guys at CNET should make a video about it and try it out
This is why Cooley is the best!
I love volvos . My favorite car . Give me a silver s60 over a mustang any day !
Facts 300hp 325trq 0-60 in 5.5
Good god, the safety tech in this car is incredible.
BMW & Volvo should colab and make a car. Probably the most technologically advanced car would be made.
+Angry Whale and way out of reasonable price range.
This car is by far my favourite to drive in, and even sit in(yes I am only 5'10" so it is very comfortable) and also in the T6 AWD it is amazing to me
👍👍👍👍👏
Aftermarket suspension and exhaust. 2 easy fixes.
So what about that auto start/stop he was going to talk about later?
Maybe they forgot to add that during editing. However, when Cooley says that he turns it off, it means that he thinks that it isn't smooth and/or fast.
GM was also planning to do the same with the speed limit indicators. They were also researching and developing the technology, but in the 2020s, it might be the new standard.
Incorrect - you cannot get this drivetrain in AWD as Brian suggests. The R-design continues with the 6 cyl.
Please do a review for the 2017 Volvo s90
Give this model 1 or 2 years of refreshes and I think it could be a real competitor.
And a 6 cylinder at the very least .
Volvo S60 takes regular gas, premium not required
Id say use premium gas for roadtrip
:50 ouch - is that a scratch on the bumper cover above the grill?
Good eye!
Volvo for life.
In my perception Volvo is better than Bmw Audi and Mercedes Benz :/
👍👍👍👍👍
If it was for VW money, then yes..
I agree with you bro
Volvo have a many security systems that in BM or Audi but chiper
*Another AWESOME video, thumbs up from me !!! :D*
You say it doesn't look like a Volvo but it looks very much like a Volvo of that era. People have different views of Volvos. Why does the temperature gauge always read at half, even though the car - sitting inside the showroom - obviously isn't at operating temperature?
4:23 Anyone else thought they got a text on their iPhone (because of the ping)?
what is the name of the song plz ???????
You can't get the 2 liter 4 cylinder in the R-Design. That steps you up to a turbo inline 6 with 20 more hp and 60 ft/lbs more torque. These 2.0 Drive-E engines (T5/T6 Drive-E FWD) cannot be had with AWD. You must get the old 5 pot and 6 pot turbo's to get AWD

Wow volvos really putting out a solid product watch out mercedes, bmw, and audi!
Wow I never knew it was twincharged... Cool
All the car's stats are false ,the car is approximately 1600kg not 2 tonnes and the 0-60 is 5.4 ,the stats you told are from the old inline 6 cylinder engine

The rear end reminds me of the older generation Honda civics
Umm.... if it is a sporty car.... umm.... yes.... you are going to feel the bumps? that is why the suspension is tight what kind of reviewer are you to NOT know that?
That is impressive tech, can't get myself to buying a Volvo though.
I bought one last year. Just go for it bud. Volvos are nice cars.
Great review. Like the style, power, loaded features, driving. Just the resale value needs some improvement compare to BMW and MB
I've driven this model,I've also driven the R-DESIGN what a MACHINE!!! woooow, total sleeper when it comes to power off the line,I've also driven shelbys/camaro's,this volvo is amazing, but I would take the R-MODEL
VOLVO IS THE BEST , ONCE A VOLVO ALWAYS A VOLVO , NO OTHER CAR COMPANIES CAN COMPETE WITH VOLVO CARS IN SAFETY AND DESIGN .
Why 360p just why
The Hyundai Sonata looks so similar to the front of this car.
nice car!
Ok, real talk, let's chat about how everyone just ignored that Benetton Ford F1 car there.
The 4k lbs is attributed to the battery pack located underneath the body. True or am I full of beans? See the you.tube video made by Volvo that showcases the new Drive-E line of engines. This may be a deal breaker for me because I don't trust any car that needs a battery pack.
This guy definitely seems like one of the critics who basically finds something wrong with everything. Nothing's ever too good or just right.
👍👍👍👍👍
Does ugliness comes include or is it optional ?
M4st3rm1nd Oh :(
Wow you went on an impressive misinformation spree at around the 4 minute mark! 0-60 takes 5.6 seconds officially, the car weighs 3470 lbs, and the car used regular 87 octane not 'premium, definitely.' I sell these, it's my job to know.
I like it 👌👌
Man that many ponies and 0-60 only as fast as my old 2007 Camry SE V6? Best part is, I only paid 6K for my use car.
Styling is good but dated
Tech overall is great
Drive wise is meh but I only had it for a day
But this would def be a car more people should look into overall
i love volvo n bmw ..
Yeah, I'll take an Infiniti Q50S, thanks.
or a new lexus is350.
I thought it was called "T6" because it had a turbo 6 cylinder.
That previously was accurate. Now T6 = twin charged 4. T8 now equals twin charged 4 + electric motors. Previously T8 equaled naturally aspirated V8. So the naming hasn't been consistent. More like trim levels.
oh thanks for the honesty lol
who thought he got a text message in 4:24 ?
Love it
I want one. Please.
I love this car, i will have this car, but i am very poor, 😰😰
These cars start at $68000 in NZ
Buy one somewhere else and have it shipped
EXPENSIVE!
i have one D3 model what they did with suspension that all bumps detect like riding bicycle without absorbers if suspension was better this car realy be close brands like audi or bmw
It’s not just the seats that are annoying in this video so to say...
T6? But it's a 4 cylinder? What...
4000 pounds?
Tiny tiny nav screen.

Terrible MPG. Great Speed Limit camera reader though!
35 hwy is terrible? u better drive hybrid boy
European? Because that's excellent highway mpg given the power output.
You obviously drive a Prius if you think 24/35 is terrible.
The hell are you talking about. A 300 horsepower V6 vehicle that weighs 4,000lbs is class leading.
best safety = volvo
I hate how they smoothed down the look. The 2000s S80 T6 were awesome also as the S60 R. Now they look like every other sedan. Boring.. :-/
I'll take the Lincoln MKZ instead.
I must be in the minority in thinking that the previous s60's front end looked much better. The new headlights make this look extremely bland and forgettable.
China owns Volvo now....sad
Who the hell cares?
So it's a good thing then.
***** Tata owns range rover, they still came out with an amazing SUV.
As far as I know, Volvo builds its cars/trucks in Europe.
iphone is made in china also . sad american company ?
All volvos look so boring both inside and outside. No emotions.
It maybe safe but thats probably the only reason to for this instead of something like 3-sieries.
Have you even seen the 2016 XC90 or 2017 S90? Or the V60/S60 Polestar models? You are obviously high. 🚬
Rediscover Film
Since this comment you just reacted to is from 15. 5. 2014, I will let my past self anwser this question - No i haven't.
Sorta looks like a Honda civic
Heavy - they need to get the lead out. :-(
too expensive really for a volvo
Safety times ten that's what Volvo is period. Fit and finish is never great engine is always limited.
Dumbest shit ever said: i don't like the seat bolsters touching me...... Really? Ever been in a dang BMW? Also "suspension transfers too much. Road moves an inch and u move ab inch." Again see BMW

Wait until Volvo goes all-electric, which is where they're heading.
First
I am still waiting for when will feminists or anti sexists will notice the logo of this car.
That’s why I’m gonna buy one now before they change it hahhaa
It's made in CHINA by GEELY.
just the long wheelbase inscription model, the rest are still made in Sweden
+Hesam0000
you sir, are an idiot spreading FUD
Geely provides money for development, the cars are made in Torslanda in Sweden and Gent in Belgium.
it is true there is a new volvo factory in china, but that is for the local market, and now they are building a new factory in the USA.
you too buddy
Hesam0000
No it isn't.

can we get a less biased person to do these reviews. like why is this gut critiquing car seats? we have smaller people on this earth thank you
First
