I got my crucial t500 2tb drive last year around Black Friday for $101 US. The very best bang for your buck drive with incredible stats. I’m surprised this channel hasn’t put it in the test list. It’s a hidden gem.
Great review! Maybe also look at the KIOXIA EXCERIA PLUS G3. Kioxia has been Toshiba before and they are making the memory modules of Western Digital NVME SSDs (like this SN580 or SN770) which Western Digital uses with their own Controllers. Would be interesting to see how Kioxias own controller on the KIOXIA EXCERIA PLUS G3 performs, espacially compared to the SN580 and/or SN770 because hardware-wise the biggest difference between these two is the Western Digital vs Kioxia controller with both (or all three) using the same memory module. In Germany the KIOXIA EXCERIA PLUS G3 2TB is currently the cheapest SSD with 5000MB+ and/or 600.000k IOPS 4k read and even higher write at just 60€/TB. So it does seem to be kind of a underdog and also underrepresented in media/reviews currently. Would love to see a video about that from you if you'd like to!
Interesting. It d' be great should there also be separate videos like "best 4TB SSD" and "best 8TB SSD" - usually general comparisons of SSDs by different brands don't take into account that they have different capacity portfolios and for 4TB or 8TB there are only so many options.
Hi! Newbie question here. Is this worth getting over the ADATA XPG SX8200 (with all the controversy) or the Crucial P3 plus Pro today? I'm planning on getting an NVMe for my old PC running on aorus x470 gaming 7 wifi, Ryzen 7 2700x, 64GB ram/32gb system reserved :( ... I want to get an NVMe that is a bit future proof since I might be able to upgrade my system in the future.
Dude on USA year ago or less, wd sn770 1tb for as low as 35-42 dollars and are mid range speedy 4000-5000 read and writes on intel system.. bought two.. should have bought more because they went up… also 2tb version was like 80-100 dollars too but none in stock local at bestbuy at that time…. Of course now in USA prices shot back up…. Gotta watch for when prices drop suddenly to get rid of stock….
hi, so i have a problem now becuse i need a computer(for media school) by september(prob not gonna be an iseu if i go a week or 2 pest). after doing my reserch i seince luly and do know a bit abut them my buget is around 800euro for the pc alone and i live in slovenia will have 2 moniters and looking for a cheep mouse and keyboard. the computer will be only used for wery light gameing (roblox/euro truck sim) but mainly for video editing and other adobe programs. My quastion is, what can i get for that buget, (i almost bouth 12600k, 3060 but we know what happend next...)? And if you think it is best to do i can expent the buget up to 1000euro (pls consider the price diference cuz of location, tho cheepest 9600x that should cost 280euro, would cost me 310euro) I know it is a long coment and i hope i will get an andswer from you. If you need any more info i will be more than happay to get back to you. Thank you!
@@anantmgs The sn580 uses a similar hybrid controller as the 770 and is leagues ahead of the 570 in terms of cache. They can never be compared, while 570 and 550 are similar, 580 and 770 are similar.
@@AviGamer5021 The 770 is still slightly more performant, but they are very close. 580 gets less hot, don't worry, neither of them will experience thermal contraction up to 85 degrees. Since 580 is price-performance, you can go for it.
dont buy this the controller of the chip gets so hot after transferring more then 10Gb of data its speed decrease drastically the surface area of the controller is also so small that if you put heatsink over it it doesnt gonna work so well. i will hardly recommend buying xpg s70 blade with physical dram chip
I have SN580 in an acasis case. It is being used as an external thunderbolt os boot drive for macmini m2. Performing really well.

Pregunta ¿Se calienta demasiado? Tengo esa duda. Si me la puedes responder te lo agradecería. 😊
No se calienta much, lo tengo y funciona bien. Pero tengo 7 abanicos y tengo una cobertura para el ssd.@@JuniorValdez999

Check out the Teamgroup MP44, PCIe 4.0, TLC 232 layers, 7400/6400 for the 2 TB, and less than this SN580.
TEAM GROUP MP44 GEN4 SSD IS A GREAT OPTION + IT'S VERY CHEAP
somehow i feel like I'm WD fanboy . sn850x 1tb as my main drive , sn580 2tb for my second drive , mainly for steam games .
Not sure if the PCMark consistency test covers this, but one thing I'd like to see is how the drive performance get affected as it gets more full.
Thank you Lauri.
Great INFO and Thank You
WD SN580 and KIOXIA EXCERIA Plus G3 are both Best-Bang-For-Buck for a mid-range ssd
Pretty impressive in some respects... especially for an HMB drive.
Agreed!
Back to back Videos 🎉🎉❤❤

Can i use this for my steam game saving ?
Wonder how the Teamgroup MP44 would stack up against this drive..
without DRAM cache, its performance will be terrible in an external USB-C 4 enclosure, right?
This is relevant to my interests. Will upgrade my next zenbook with a 4tb drive.

what is the coolest ssd for handheld?
I would recommend team group mp44 or mp44L 2tb
Can I use it for PS5?
How does it compare to Crucial p3 plus?
i purchased wd green 1tb for 55$ cause there were no other good options in offline market
I'm from India. Waiting for your review on ryzen 9700x
Is it possible to run the content creation software on Linux based systems?
Why they put xyz Mb/s if in practice the speed from reading to writing is slower? Looks like a scam to me

I'm migrate my os frm hdd to SSD and know ethernet port not working
I bought sn570 and some months later sn580 came 😢
Good sn 570 runs very cool
It has 8 controllers which makes it very stable even it is 75% full
Sn 580 lack all these

crucial , western digital budget ssd are so bad its lifespan is so bad i do not trust them
SN580 1TB => 4,200 MB/s READ & WRITE SPEED @ $70
TEAM GROUP MP44 1TB => 7,400 MB/s READ & WRITE SPEED @ $74
CHOOSE WISE 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
