MUCH cleaner than my Vox amplug 2. That one has most of the same features, but adds static even a low levels. Love the overdrive too. Nice little thing. Thanks for the demo and review. Regarding batteries. AA are heavier. My amplug 2 is too easy to pull out of my bass. I wonder if they went cheap because of weight.
Thanks for the video. Since the Zoom pedals have an amp simulation that is based on the Aguilar DB750 (seems to me like the tuby grandmother of the Tone Hammer) I would be interested in an comparison video. Another great option for practicing everywhere is the Positive Grid Spark go, which also has an simulation of the Tone Hammer. It is double the price of the amplug, but it has a lot of different simulations of amps and pedals for Bass and Guitar. It can also be used as a bluetooth speaker or as a headphone amp, if you like to use wired headphones with a device without a jack... I don't know if you have a Spark amplifier (size doesn't really matter, because the emulations are always the same) in your collection, but a comparison of the three devices would be really interesting imo...
"Welcome to Idaho Falls, Idaho" OH PLEASE GOD NO WHY ...I mean at least it's not Sandpoint. Anyway, cool to hear the AmPlugs have come so far since their first introduction. I remember them originally being a half tier above e-waste. This sounds quite nice.
The show was kinda born in Idaho so we have a good turnout when we play up there. But I get it. I grew up in Idaho and it’s rare that it makes the national news without being a complete embarrassment.
Great video! Love your stuff and your vibe man, i hope you are doing well! I am interested in your rock opera for quite some time! Is there a video recording that i could buy to support your work and then watch the thing with my wife? :) as we live i autria we will probably not see the show live anytime soon :/
👋 Hi Taco! I have an oldish plain jane bass AmPlug and use it for similar situations...no lil pouch for it and despite the kinda cheesey cheap feeling construction it's survived just fine being tossed around in a gig bag wrapped in cheap earbuds for a couple years. If/when it ever kicks the bucket I'd definitely consider replacing it with this one.
Taco says hi back! Appreciate you sharing your experience. Long term use is hard to gauge with these kinds of videos so that’s super valuable information.
I had one of these years back, a vox. Looks very similar. The audio is not great, but it works. Unfortunately I got it so I could practice wail I was on a trip. It broke within a few days of being in a bag. They are not made to be durable at all, despite it being the perfect option for travel. I just don't think there worth the money. But two thumbs up to Amp and Deep Love
Time will tell if it holds up! I plan on just leaving it in my gig bag for the forseeable future. If it breaks, then we'll know how much punishment it can take.
With high quality headphones, why did all of your tones sound like mud. As for the AAA vs AA battery thing, they made the correct choice. AAs are not only larger, they're heavier and you don't want even more weight pulling on a fragile plastic plug. AAAs are easy to find. Even better, get a set of Eneloops. I haven't purchased a disposable AA or AAA battery in decades.
After the Fender Mustang Micro came out and then the Boss Katana go there's no way id pay more than $30 bucks for that and only if i needed something in a pinch and couldn't find one of the others first
I don't need this. I don't need this. I don't need this. I already have a Scarlett 2i2 and Amplitube 5 Max. I already have a Vox AmPlug 2 Bass. I already have a perfectly good bass amp (if a bit small since it's a Rumble 40). I still want this.
Is there a reason to use this if you already have a zoom b1 four? I know the zoom is bigger, but both are wayyyy smaller than a bass, which you will need to have enough room for if you want to play bass.
I've really like using my Audio Technica M50s or my Shure SE215 in-ear monitors, but it sounds just fine with the old Apple earbuds I was using as well.
I wish they'd make one of these that was rechargeable. I hate having to deal with changing out batteries. I think a small practice amp is still more convenient for the average bedroom player like me.

Weight would be a good reason to stick with AAA. Maybe a USB C rechargeable battery is the way to go.
AMP: bass player, youtuber, and hand model. Truly a renaissance man.
Triple threat
Big props for using a Chris Squire line to try it out.
Seems like a great acessory, also, the Deep Love album is incredible!
Thank you so much for checking it out! Hopefully coming to a city near you one day!

i believe you have sold me on this little guy!

I don't have a good video to share, but the album we just put out is the second best way to enjoy the show. Thanks so much for your support!
I have a Joyo one and loved it since got it out of the package for the same reason... practice amp done right.

Ok. I’m buying one.

The best part? Rocking out in DOD makeup around your own headstone. YEAH!!

I have NUX GP1. Ok, ok, it's for guitar. Almost no bass. But save me a lot during trips. Here in Brasil it's 4x more expensive to have one of these.

How is the noise floor of the Aguilar headphone amp? I had once used Amplug 2 for a while but gave up using because of its irritating noise floor.
I didn't find it to be noisy. The sound samples I was able to get were pretty clean and represent the sound in the headphones very well.
Can these be used with the Vox SuperBeetle Audio, Bluetooth speaker, like you can with the Vox amPlugs?
There’s no Bluetooth on this as far as I know.
@ampthebassplayer The Vox speaker is Bluetooth. The Vox can interface with their amPlugs to simulate the amp through the amp/speaker.

For me it’s worth it to have something this small and portable. It may not be the case for you though.
What headphones would you recommend for this?
I've really like using my Audio Technica M50s or my Shure SE215 in-ear monitors, but it sounds just fine with the old Apple earbuds I was using as well.
It appears to be exactly the same thing as the Vox.
Yes, it's the amPlug 3 thing but with a different voicing. I've never used the Vox ones, so I can say how different this is.
Does this work on a passive bass ?
Yes
Why not just to play without an amp? ;)
I like to be able to hear the bass.
I wish they'd make one of these that was rechargeable. I hate having to deal with changing out batteries. I think a small practice amp is still more convenient for the average bedroom player like me.
Fender's Mustang Micro is rechargeable. I've been using that (v1) with bass for a while and no complaints.
