    Excellent video, however, my being new to video production, it has demonstrated the level of knowledge that must be obtained prior to fully understanding the GFX100s and video production generally. It has left me feeling like a I am a knuckle dragger! A shortened version for gumbies (like myself) would be good.

    I’ve had a gfx 100 for about two months and I’m now testing out the video modes. I’m curious to know your raw video workflow in Final Cut. It’s definitely different than when I had the s1h.
    The 100 raw video looks rec 709 on import instead of looking like FLog. It’s showing Flog on the Ninja while recording though. No Luts are set to be applied on the Ninja either (except for monitoring)

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  3 роки тому

      Good that you've managed to configure the Ninja so that you're getting a clean F-Log RAW. That was confusing.
      This sounds like a good suggestion for a video?
      Personally, I found that making the exposure/colour adjustments manually served me best.

    If Fujiflm can make GFX 100S (medium format with IBIS) similar size/weight as FF, Fujiflm should able make X-T4 (APS-C) similar size/weight as M4/3.
    Wish ultra lightweight X-T5.

      Have you considered the X-S10?

    • @myocean3228
      @myocean3228 3 роки тому

      X-S10 hasn't WR and use PASM dials.
      IMO Fujiflm should make X-S20 with WR and Fujilike dials in $999; X-T4 Mark II with dual processor (like Nikon) and built-in heatsink (like Sigma fp) for unlimited 4K video shooting.
      It is because X-T4 price too close to mid-range FF. Canon RP (FF) only need $999.

    Am I missing something, I don't understand why in this video you (and everybody else that does it) don't use the full frame/ratio of UA-cam?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  3 роки тому

      As I explained in the video, I decided to demonstrate the settings in this camera by using the full cinema configuration - using the DCI 17x9 aspect. That means there's a slight letterbox if you're viewing full screen on a 16x9 screen.
      Although your screen may, UA-cam does not have a standard size or ratio.

    • @Paul_Rohde
      @Paul_Rohde 3 роки тому

      @@MaartenHeilbron Hi Maarten, I hear you, but I still don't get it. Why squish everything down with black bars when the viewing audience is on UA-cam. Actually, for a system not confined by a physical screen, such as on a browser window, UA-cam does have a default standard ratio of 16:9 ... obviously chosen as this is the modern standard digital display (TV) ratio (based on an a-political compromise of cinema sizes, which conversely, don't appear to have a single standard ratio). Some phone companies etc try to sell more gadgets by trying to mess with the modern standard. If you're releasing your UA-cam video at the cinema, let me know, but I'm not paying (and I'm smuggling popcorn in from the supermarket) but for now your video has gone straight to UA-cam. Ok, maybe you're trying to demonstrate something, (I'm still not sure what), but I'm not for UA-camrs shrinking things down (or stealing/wasting viewing area) with black bars because somehow that's part of a formula for making something of great "cinematographic" quality. Cinema legends never mentioned that secret of black bars in interviews! In fact the intended canvas is filled up in the cinema, so why is it different for the intended home canvas? (... now for the 24 fps crippling eye sore scenario ... another day ...).

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  3 роки тому

      @@Paul_Rohde Clearly, repeating your comments after I've provided my rationale indicates that you don't hear me.
      Why is your tolerance for those who don't agree with you so low? Why do you find my reply so insufficient? Please read my reply again, as it includes the reasons I chose to use DCI 17x9 to demonstrate this camera.

    • @Paul_Rohde
      @Paul_Rohde 3 роки тому

      @@MaartenHeilbron Hi Maarten, you asked me a question, was that literal or rhetorical? If it was literal, I'll do you the honour and of course answer! You use the words that you "explained" and gave a "rationale". mmmm, to me you've just stated why ... so I don't have your understanding yet to agree with it. Maybe I'm hoping I could witness a teeny inkling of appreciation of what was being addressed even it was disagreed with. Plus I had to address a statement that UA-cam is not 16:9, and my 16:9 screen was the issue. But if you think it's important to chop the viewing screen and show black bars to show what a DCI 17x9 aspect looks like on a different ratio platform, whilst on a otherwise good technical run-down video with less visual clarity opportunities, well Ok. If you allow me to go on a bit, I've never met anybody in my life that likes it when a movie when shown on TV is displayed with black horizontal bars. I still remember a teacher 35 years ago telling how when a certain anticipated movie started with black bars on TV he was dreading it was going to stay that way. (Luckily it was just the titles.) And that was in the 4:3 era when the vertical axis was a greater proportion of the screen with more opportunity to chop. Now we have 16:9 screens, nice and wide, with no real need for black horizontal bars limiting the even further limited vertical axis, but (arrgh) it still happens. Never mind, love your stuff so far, and this discussion helps the UA-cam interaction algorithm anyway!

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  3 роки тому

      @@Paul_Rohde This is starting to feel like you're trolling. When a video project is produced in a format other than 16x9, there are two choices. Either you can display a narrow black bar above and below, in which case the viewer sees the entire image, or you can crop the image so that there is no letterbox. Which do you prefer?
      As I have said in more than one video, using an aspect ratio other than 16x9 if your target is any modern screen (and not cinematic projection) is pretentious. ua-cam.com/video/z1rdjGLmsd8/v-deo.html. Once more - I was demonstrating the capabilities of this camera, and if the note wasn't too subtle, that it can't maintain this capability in all modes. I"m sorry that you missed the point.
      My questions were literal - although there is clearly a degree of sarcasm involved.
