    freedom doesn't always mean living in the wild. it may be where she came from, but your house is where she's made her home. being with this couple is her kind of freedom, which I'm glad they respected in the end

    I think it's GREAT they kept this bird: everyone makes a big deal out of forcing animals back into nature, and thats absolutely fine, but if the animal truly wants to stay, let her make the choice to stay Love is the only important thing.

      I absolutely agree. This bird would have been dead anyway without their coming to the rescue, the wild had already "lost" this one so to speak. She seems like the happiest bird in the world, I see nothing wrong with her living with her humans permanently.

    I love that decided to keep her, once a bird imprints on you as a baby they love you forever. Also since she spent her whole life with them, she probably wouldn’t fare well in the wild. In their house, she can live her best life without having to worry about weather, predators, or finding food

    • @Cruor34
      @Cruor34 2 роки тому +78

      Yeah I don't get what surprises people, can be a bird, lizard, gorilla or a lion, doesn't matter, the wild sucks, they want to be in a home and be fed just like people do. The only animals I can think of that would prefer the wild over (good) captivity are dolphins/whales. I have Iguanas and Tegus and they like to go outside in the sun for maybe 30-60 mins, then they scratch at the door to be let back inside.

      Ultimately, an animal has far more freedom and fulfillment in the wild. A human home might be loving and comfortable, but it’s restricting and limits the things they can do in their lives and they become totally dependent on you. I’m grateful this couple took responsibility, but I think they should’ve taught it how to find food and slowly acclimated the bird to the outside world. If I had to choose, I would much rather give a wild animal a chance to fully mature and dedicate time to help it become independent and be totally free outside than keep it as a pet.

    Something Ive learned from raising house sparrows myself over the years Is that even after learning how to fly and fledging, they still rely on you for shelter and food for a short period of time. They will leave shortly and then return. Eventually leaving longer and longer until one day they decide they’re ready and leave forever. It’s a bittersweet moment. Seeing such a tiny thing completely depending on you, growing into this independent adult who learns how to feed themselves and one day flies away. :’)

To see little Iris grow and thrive is a joy to watch. There are many people who may say "how can a creature 💘 "or do they feel at all "? I am not a person who subscribes to those things. You only have to watch this beautiful little clip to see this. Iris knew that she had been helped by her two humans. Iris obviously felt safe and she did not wish to leave them. There are many benefits to having children who interact with animals as well as adults. For example, by taking care of pets, which are fragile, irreplaceable creatures and taking care of them, making it easier for them to grow Compassionate and warm hearted. Also, by observing changes in a pet that cannot talk on a daily basis, you can feel the effect of being gentle and sensitive to people's feelings. Both of these effects are created over a long period of time, not only by temporary contact, but also by the relaxing effect of being together. Even if you cannot live as a pet, it is a good idea to interact with the animals from time to time and support the animal channels🐈🐈😽🙏

      Just try positive reinforcement. Everytime the little one interacts nicely with the cat, make a medium sized deal out of it. I had a neighbor with the sweetest dog. But his toddler nephew kept grabbing her tail and hitting her. The neighbor would block him and tell him hitting hurts. Sometimes (and rightly so) my neighbor would get very angry with his nephew and ban him from being in the same room as his dog. One time he even lightly pinched him- if you can call it pinching, maybe squeezed is more accurate- on his arm and asked if this was ok. His nephew said he wasn't playing nice and my neighbor said: how do you think Melly feels everytime you pull her tail or hit her? His nephew was quiet for a long time then just went to the dog and hughed her and said he was so sorry. After that they were inseperable. Psychological problem my paw.

The first time it happened the baby sparrow was dead and the next year it happened for a second time but this time the baby sparrow was alive. We had to leave to go outside somewhere and it was barely breathing and I completely regret leaving it at my front porch in a small bowl with tissues around it. I begged my parents to take it with us to find help perhaps, but we were "busy" because we had to go somewhere. We even called services to help injured birds but they said they didnt do it for sparrows. I came back home with it laying in the bowl breathless. I kept trying to move it and put drops of water through its beak, it didnt move at all. I was just so heart broken and I still am. Im really happy you were able to help it survive.
