I bought the Dell 49" monitor about 6 months ago and can never go back. Having three full sized open windows all on the same monitor with no bezel in the middle is an unparalleled experience.
No need for paid software to split screens if you have an Nvidia RTX card. There's a tool called RTX desktop manager that is very helpful and does exactly this.
I don't recommend 49". The screen is huge and I find it hard to focus in the middle. You have to physically turn your neck left or right. IMO, the 34" or 38" ultrawide is most productive size of monitor.
Depends on what you're doing, I suppose. In RPG gaming, the extra space just increases field of view so that you can catch things with your peripheral vision, as you would do in real life. You can still move the mouse around just as much for even better visibility of your surroundings. I can see where it might be kind of a pain for graphics design, though.
My setup is currently three monitors, two of which are 27" curved. I'm running AWS spread across the two 27" monitors and the bezel in between has been driving me crazy. I've been shopping 49" ultrawides the past few weeks, but my gamer husband has been telling me that I don't need anything that big. Your video has convinced me otherwise... Thank you!
Update: I got a 34" ultrawide and I hate it. It's everything that I expected. All of the programs that I use for work fight for real estate. I am definitely getting the 49" when the prices come down a little. Maybe a Memorial Day sale or something... 🤔
@@herman7550 My 34" ultrawide is my main monitor for AWS. Running the virtual computer with the 34" UW is like having a monitor and a half. Most of the apps have to stack on top of each other, instead of being side-by-side in full view. I'm constantly toggling or clicking from app to app, or using Snip on the real computer and dragging something to another monitor to view outside of AWS while working in another program within AWS. It's inefficient and annoying. For my needs, the 49" is the only way to go. For my husband who would just be playing games, he's probably right, and all he needs is the 34".
@@MarsieInTX have you thought about a 38”? I’m stuck between choosing 34 or 38 or 49 and I don’t really know which one to go for. I usually only need two applications open simultaneously, but I like having one of them in full screen

The biggest difference between VA and IPS is contrast ratio, I would prefer IPS over VA. As for streaming I really like it. I have my game in the center with streaming tools / chat on each side

I have 2x24" 1080p monitors right now with a GTX 1070. I've got the Samsung G9 coming in the mail but I'm questioning if I'll keep it. I'm sure I'll love the size, I REALLY want these big bezels between my displays gone as well. I'm just wondering if it'll really do much for me outside the cool factor. I know my 1070 won't push games in 32:9. My main use is gaming and web browsing where I've always got two windows open. I guess I'm questioning if a 34" would give me everything I need, while being easier on m GPU, at less cost. Anyone wanna weigh in?
@@thinkcomputers1 I was thinking of this actually, as I thought more about the issue. Playing in 21:9 while having a task open on the side. Thanks for the reply!
@@patricecomedy My situation was quite different than most so my advice has to be taken with a grain of salt but: 1. At that point I was using a GTX 1070, which was not capable of running games at higher settings on this monitor. I needed to run everything on low or medium to have good FPS. 2. I didn’t have a desk and was using a couch and I was tired of moving AROUND the monitor to get up and sit down. This is just my situation though. 3. I HATED not being able to full screen two videos at the same time like you can with two monitors. If I wanted to full screen a UA-cam tutorial or something, it would center, and take up the entire display. In practice, this meant I wasn’t able to full screen a tutorial on one monitor while gaming on the other. Which meant I was looking at ads, the tops of comment sections, and a bunch of other junk I didn’t need. This made me feel like I had LESS usable space. I hated it. 4. I now have a desk and two 34” 3440/1440 UltraWides. This is COMPLETELY overkill, but I wanted my monitors to match because it would’ve bothered me. I have more screen space than I know what to do with, it looks awesome as a wrap around on my L desk, and I have my full screen options back. At the end of the day, a 34 or slightly larger is great for gaming. I just can’t ever imagine a single monitor with how I multitask. I’m now using a 4070Ti which can run games well on it, but I would never consider going back to the 49’ even if it were given to me for free. It’s a beautiful display, but it’s limitations are real breakers for me. A 34-38 gives you just as much of an immersive experience as the 49 will.
i hate ultra wide, i prefer height and width, i use a 52" 4k tv for general stuff and have a 32" monitor for when quality counts. can have 4 windows open on the tv and all looks and works good. i have had display fusion for many years, it is fantastic and love the way it is buy once and get updates forever.
What I'm wondering about is this. I know you can set up your screen window so that you can for example play games in the middle, whilst having browsers open on each other side. But does that make the game you're playing displayed in fullscreen windowed mode, windowed mode, or full screen? Because I kind of want a 49", but not if I only can have the game in windowed fullscreen or something like that, because then the game won't run in 144hz?
I am wondering the same thing. I have a 34inch ultrawide. However, one thing to note, for instance, in WZ2, if you go fullscreen bordeless, then it automatically sets your frames and you have no control. Butttttt, in nvidia control panel, you can control how many frames a non fullscreen app/game can use so that you could technically still get 144hz in fullscreen borderless. I think it depends on the game you play and your nvidia settings. Feel free to reply if you want to chat and I could screen record or maybe show you a live example of my 34inch ultrawide.
