- The brand is Japangeles... like it sounds, it's part Japan and part Los Angeles and 100% about community.

I remember the kiosk they had back in the day. Was very happy to see they had opened the store! My daughter and I love their clothing.
❤❤Respect. 1974 Growing up in Downey California my Parents would take us to East LA and then to Little Tokyo. We loved the hospitality of the people and the parades , thank you. As a Mexicano American , we have history. Thank you 🙏
It makes me sad about East LA. My family members used to tell me it was a Mexican and Japanese Neighborhood but due to the war the Japanese were displaced.
@@mikloridden8276have you seen any of the videos on UA-cam that feature the Chicano Japanese subculture? As a Cali expat, I LOVE seeing my two favorite cultures unexpectedly collide. 🇲🇽 🇯🇵 ❤
Ohtani needs to visit the store.
I love stories about hard work that pay off.... Congratulations on your success!
I think it's pretty cool if you go to Japan there are those that embrace the Chicano culture
You’re talking about less than 100 Japanese people lol. I’ve been to Japan, I know.
Very cool story. I wish they did have an online store so we can support from Australia. We will just need to either wait for a launch or fly over to LA haha
Can't wait to go to the store!
we bought from the kiosk many moons ago. Still buying your stuff. It's awesome. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing! I will definitely check this store out!
What a good idea !
Please, please…PLEASE…get back on the interwebs. I am far from my old SoCal stomping grounds, but I would absolutely LOVE to support the business, both as a Cali expat AND a lover of Japanese people & culture. 👍🍻❤️🇯🇵🔥🙇♂️
Cool - truly authentic to one’s bicultural identity.
What ?...using another country's national flag and name aren't example of being bicultural .
🇯🇵 Japan-Nippon-Nihon-日本 are all representation of a Country .
Congrats!! Good job!
What an inspiration.
This is an example of why we need to preserve the flavor of Little Tokyo in downtown LA. It’s precarious. New investors want the foot traffic that comes there for the Japanese flavor but don’t support the “Japanese-ness”. They will end up killing what they covet. Thanks for highlighting this for the world.
Great design work on their products. Congrats on their success.
Only been to lil Tokyo once and got to see the kiosk up at the time. T-shirt designs were fresh. Must have been the husband that helped us but super nice dude.
This is beautiful 🥰
It's cheaper now to just go to Japan!

Koreangeles coming soon!
ThaiLA 😊City of Angels!
The majority of Japan towns/little tokyos have turned into Korea or Chinese towns over time. Those two are less welcoming, gotta fight for the Japan towns existence!
@@mikloridden8276 Afaik, koreans don't teach fake history like japan and china do. I'll give more points to them, and let's not forget Rooftop koreans. Koreans are sure winners.
I approve. 👍
There is also a new brand in Brooklyn NY called Japanklyn.
"all about identity"...as usual in todays world
Great name and idea, just need slightly better graphic design.
"Everyday I would come to work and say I'm gonna do this for the community, I'm gonna do this for the people." Yea okay.
That business is 90% the wife.
So?
As a Mexicano American Yes, the wife’s are who hold the community together. Mario Puzo the author of the God Father. He said, Little Italy , it was the women who held the community together 😅
Just like at home, it’s always the wife’s business 😂
Korean😂
@@bronco6456 Yeah i see that wife is Korean and im curious why she kept her last name “kim” still. Idk maybe they were never married. Ive seen many couples with kids but never officially married, so that could be it. I wonder how much Japanese culture that she understands and how well she speaks Japanese to run the business.
Flashing rising sun flag? that's not suspicious at all. lol
