I’ve been playing for a while now and I truly enjoy the ice rotation. I kinda miss the instacast flares when you LB, but the thing I miss the most is the crowd control the class had. Still I live for BLM
A lot off people I am seeing also missing the instant Flares also, I think in general they moving cc away from those rolls that could bully with it a lot more I noticed Monk also got there stun taken away which was being used to hard focus Dark knight players
@2:00 except, you cannot jump into a crowd and cast this immediately as it's now on the GCD and you just stand there like an idiot until the CD is down, then cast it (I notice you spamming the button as well)- hopefully while you're still alive. People thinking that this is "more fair" don't play BLM as their only job. I'm nonstop cannot cast fire because people are always moving. I feel slower and less powerful. Again, I went from 10-4-27 to 2-8-12. So, yeah, now I'm just running around spamming blizzard, because you know how frontline is with people just standing still and not moving. Glad the 5% that like it do though. Good for them.
It took me a good minute to get used to Flare not being insta-cast. I really like the BLM changes too. It does feel more fair, and it feels like you have to think about which spells to use instead of just spamming ice for freezes or spamming fire for damage.
Same I kept pressing the button and moving at first till I was like oh yea, And agreed you feel more involved with the class now and can think your way through more scenarios
So far I found the new crowd control to be more impactful since you need to build up to it wereas before you always new cc spam was coming your way making it easier to fight against them

I kinda like the new blm so far. Itll take some getting used to but I appreciate the devs experimenting and the switching back and forth helps the identity of the job
I'm definitely liking the changes to Blm! Really been enjoying the mobility and harassing groups of enemies with full rotations to the aoe, then paradox, hitting with another aoe, then lb if i have it. Usually can cause enough mayhem to either unfortunately draw aggro or let my allies come sweep up the carnage.
I am glad Salted earth is not as strong right now could you imagine the pull plus a reaper or dancer LB to break the guards to then get mass frozen by a Black mage XD
I feel like I can do more in Frontline with the changes (lower overall damage but less dependant on allies to hold the line for me to cast spells.) The Wreaths are so good I wish we had 2 stacks of them instead of Xeno. Frost Star catches people off guard very often and leads to a wipe. But they really need to polish fire rotation and Paradox more. Fire spells are just not worth it outside of 1v1 in CC, and I have no idea why they've made Paradox unusable after you are past the first spell.
Agreed love the Wreath system, and yea Fire needs a buff I get the feeling Xeno was designed to replace Paradox then after testing the roll it under performed so they added one back, then after a few month might buff it after seeing how it performs
I originally didn't like the BLM changes very much, but after playing a couple of matches and scoring BH5 each time, I can see what they are going for. The wreath and Frost/Flare Star mechanics didn't really make sense to me at first until trying it for myself. It still is painful losing Night Wing though, Lethargy just isn't that great.
Lethargy in Frontline is going to be one off those skills you hold onto for select moments if you know what your looking for you could drop it on a monk right as they go for the Lb on you, Warrior pull drop lethary then such and such, everyone will miss the mass sleep because its fair it went it was just to easy to force purifys with
Hi Salamander! I wanted to get your opinion on the new Samurai changes. I’m not quite sure how to feel about them myself. Despite the potencies and new buffs they’ve gotten, I don’t feel like it does much in Frontline anymore, specifically Midare Setsugekka and Kaeshi Setsugekka.
Not ran it in a match yet but day one did test it vs the other melees, I think the Midare extra attack is designed to help it 1v1 other melee rolls since it used to struggle but now It beats them most the time, and I do love the fact you can basically ensure at least one person will die to your LB now that Mineuchi extends the kuzuchi timer by 4 seconds plus now chiten gives you the Zanshin with 100% life steal making your Chiten guard up combo much easier to survive now, so from first looks seems like you can compete with melees more, have the same old working kit, with quite a few quality of life changes for successful LB's
nice vid man, watching u always helps me improve, like watching the cameras angles and stuff.. so i try to reproduce later hehe btw, do u have any warrior guides or planning or making one in the future? coming from BLM to warrior been a bit of struggle for me, as its full melee
Finally got the gist of its kit. I genuinely think it’s a lot better than what the community is thinking. I’m sorry but unless you’re getting bursted down by multiple opponents, it is too easy to survive with this job. Xenoglossy is so strong and versatile, it’s a great offensively and defensively, you can use it to confirm kills or give yourself back health. Wreath of ice is just superior to chiten due to it accomplishing the same goal but lasting even longer. Frost star for interruption, burst for fat shield. Not to mention, ice is stupid mobile now. Casters overall seem to be in a great spot this expansion. I would like to see a MNK video sometime too since I think it’s facing the same situation like BLM. I honestly think both jobs will be placed higher as people learn them, they are completely different now.
even when being bursted down by multiple players quite often now you can still get away, hopefully soon we get some buffs to melee to bring them more up to level and will make sure to add monk to the next poll :D
Ik I've said it on one of your vids before but, Ive had some time to play the job and reflect so let me say this one last time. The changes to BLM in CCF (CRYSTALLINE CONFLICT) are genuinely horrible. It's an unviable job atp and you're throwing by picking it due to the other amazing options currently. Ill get to the details in order of the main pain points: i don't like 1. it's long cast times, 2. it's lack of meaningful sustain or defense, 3. it's lack of burst, 4. the short buff windows, 5. the overall damage. Just the whole kit is bad for CCF. 1. Long casts don't work because line of sight is a big thing, there are no open areas in CCF mostly and the few ones we have leave you vulnerable as well, remember casters have the lowest hp. 2. This leads us to sustain, and mitigation. Xenoglossy's secondary effect is horrible, a decent burst tool turns into a pitifully damaging GCD when your hp lowers to 49% (it might be 50%), this is offset by the fact that it heals you for 16000 hp in return. This is worthless for the supposed intended effect of saving you or helping yoh stay alive, you simply die too fast for it to make a difference and since it's on the global cooldown it's way too much of a waste to use, it's a worse recuperate that requires a target whenever you're half health. MP management isn't an issue, at least not enough to require this, what would be cool is if xeno did full damage always with the second effect removed, that way we could kill things trying to kill us. Burst doesn't give enough shield and the ice buff is worthless since we have such low HP. And aetherial manipulation having a 10s cd is horrible, even PLD and RPR get to keep two movement abilities, AST also gets 2, why does BLM lose a stock of the worst movement in CCF 3. It has no true burst, only during limit break is it lind of there, but in the form of a dot, it shares the same problem as SCH, being that dots are horrible at quickly lowering hp due to the concept of dots contradicting that. With everything on a GCD just about, there is no feasible way to burst someone, you really can only assist. 4. The fire and ice buffs are both very short, and their cooldowns are very long, this makes it impossible to simply use the ice phase to damage, as it does horrible damage without the fire buff, yet you cannot use the fire buff exclusively either. You have to juggle between the two which is horrible since the choice of when to burst should be up to YOU at the moment of needing it, we shouldn't have to plan our burst ahead of time, not is that possible in a pvp game with unpredictable outcomes in a moment to moment basis. 5. Even if I ignore the GCD part and look at the overall damage, it's just not very good. Other jobs with lower skill floors do more damage and quicker than BLM atm. It's sad to see.
I don’t like the new overhaul. I just can’t hype with the new changes. It feels so slow. No instant cast. I used to instant cast and hide out of sight play. No burst windows. Everything is on ogcd. You press buttons one by one. So boring. Can used freeze to escape. Only one change of the teleport. Can not even play tricks with it when escape. Less cc. It is a big nerf. I played very aggressive blm on cc. I like the glass canon kind of playing. Very oppressive but dance with the death. Monk and MCH one shot lb. Now it has not damage. You cannot even go tracking down the weak player. So stationary. Cast on the spot. I do not use ice because it has not damage. U can play other job because ice has poor damage. After the rework. I can’t control when want to activate the freeze effect. Terrible pack for blm. 😥😢
I really dislike the BLM changes. It used to feel good to fire 6 flares back to back into a pack of opponents. Now I can just run around and be an ice mage that can't kill anything unless lucky to catch someone who is already low HP with a Xenoglossy. Lethargy is okay but nothing compared to what we had before :( Also feels much squishier and the escape potential isn't there anymore. Mostly talking about Frontlines, I don't play CC much. Anyway, I will have to look for another job to play in PvP... probably SMN or something.
Great guide but I don't fully agree that all these changes are good for Blm. Not only was reduce it to 1 charge but they also removed instant cast from AM. Seriously I wonder if any of the devs play any pvp at all.
Fairs most players i meat seem to be divided 50/50 on the new BLM I think this new version was designed to keep as much off the old style as possible while removing its bullying style aspects

I miss my crowd control and feeling like a turret. Now I just feel like any other ranged class flipping all over the place

That's fair I did think the changes effect those off you who play Crystalline more then it would for Frontline
