I just got word that a company I interviewed with recently is sending me an offer letter and I came here to watch this scene because this is exactly how I’m feeling right now.
Every day, thousands of Americans go through that same range of emotions. Fear of being told no, the relief of hearing the good news, the elation that everything will work out now... Whether it's a new job, marrying the love of your life, welcoming a new child into the world, finding out you've done something others considered impossible.... it's a great feeling, and this mans story should be held up as an example: Yes, life is tough, it will beat you down at times, but if you can stick it out, push through the tough times... your perseverance will pay off.
Not to be that guy, but Americans have it a lot easier than the average person on earth. But I still see so many American youth being oblivious to this and making mountains out of molehills
I had a very similar moment after I opened up business after 5 years going back to school doing my volunteer work doing my part time job and my full-time job while taking care of my disabled father. Just being able to open up shop and having the opportunity to finally sleep normal. And seeing business returns that you control and a reasonable work-life balance finally show up with a clean and safe apartment after moving out of a shithole with rats and cockroaches with a little savings to boot. It really does make you want to cry.

I came to realize this feeling when on June 26 this year, I finally managed to graduate from university as a civil engineer. It was a journey that lasted long, it wasn't a pleasant one, it began in July 13 of 2009. The fact that I overcame all the traumas, all the toxic family environment I was raised in and still living in, my PDD, my insecurities, my fears, the death of my mother, my auto immune condition, after three times that I gave up...that was happiness. My life didn't change dramatically, yet I made it, and I proved to myself that I am worthy of it, once again. This movie means much to me. Thank you, Will Smith.
I watch this as a kid and went thru this as an adult, & to watch it again from a different perspective gives me a whole new type of appreciation for Will Smiths performance. Until you have experienced this feeling of struggle and uncertainty, you will never understand.
I think a lot of people also miss the deeper layer of that scene. Those people are all working citizens. He finally 'fits' in, but while a lot of them are most likely not happy with what they have, Chris had to fight very hard to get in that same position as them.
I just got laid off a month ago, from a job of 20 years, cuz they went bankrupt. Its scary starting over and change can be intimidating. All we can do is keep trying and never give up.
This is one of my favorite scenes of all time from any tv/movie/media. How relatable it is for everyone who has ever been through the struggle and made it out the other side. Tgat something as mundane as a job offer can mean so, so much. Can validate all the hard work, sacrafice, the utter loneliness, and how terrifying that fear of failure can be when failure means you can't eat. To everyone who's experienced this kind of joy, I, too, am happy for you in your success. To those who aren't there yet, stay strong! I'm rootin for you.
As a kid growing up with a single mom I saw her go through every battle to provide and her hard work and strength set the bar for myself. The thing I always give her credit for is never letting me feel any of the struggles she was dealing with. She was always still making me smile even as she was carrying me on the bus while she was going to school to then have to work her full time job after wards. I only hope one day to be the parent she was to me to my own kids.
Every person out there who are trying their best everyday to meet ends for their family, for them to always smile, nothing beats that emotion and determination. To everyone out there, we will keep moving forward...
When you have that feeling that you made it and can provide for your family and have the satisfaction of knowing you are valuable and skilled and wanted, it is the ultimate rush of happiness. Inspirational.
Him clapping in a sea of people is the most relatable thing. Most of us we're fighting battles in our head that only us know. We suffer victory and defeat all the same ans we are the only once who knew. The crowd around may not understand what the claps are for. But we knew and thats all that matters
Every time I watch this portion, find myself rejuvenated and morale got lifted, remain always fresh as if I am watching this the very first time...and it makes my day. Speechless acting.
Getting back to this. Def needed this. About 6 months away from my masters while working full time. Nowhere near as hard as other people’s lives but the pursuit of happiness is what keeps me present and keeps me enjoying the struggle. Hope this can help someone else. Keep your heads up
Kids today all cry about stuff they don't deserve yet feels they entitled to , they don't know what it feels like to be truly happy when your hard work bear fruits..
Wills Smith you made us have tears in eyes….this whole movie….it was you….not one of ur best performance…but it is THE PERFORMANCE….10000 claps and love from India..
This was such an emotionalk scene. This reminds me a lot of my father who came from nothing and became a successful businessman on wall street. This is so inspiring. I know what it is like to be hired in general. Not a better feeling in the world.
Happiness is so fleeting sometimes when everything seems dark and the bad times seem to never end. That’s what makes the good times even better, knowing the pain you’ve had to endure and will be relieved from.
cry everytime!! WILL SMITH was so amazing in this role and the ending makes me cry..when he walks by the the Man who is the story with his Son it is truly beyond words.
Made me remember the day i got a call for a job after several tries and being at my lowest. These moments are blessings and i wish everyone experiences them in life and succeed in their pursuit of happiness.
I just landed my dream job at a global tech company with highest salary of my life in my 30s after internships, countless interviews, rejections, part-time, casual low paying jobs, struggling to pay bills :( I cried so much watching this now :(
yeah... I even think the music's kinda corny and all (I get it tho its an emotional moment) but that acting man, like u can really feel his character fighting back those tears. Honestly I think that alone w/out the music is enough to carry the scene's emotional weight. just my opinion tho.
This scene after whole movie, completely destroyed me. I'm very emotional person, and actually something similar happened to me, when i got the opportunity to work in a position, which was (and still is) a dream job for me. They captured that feeling perfectly!! On the way home from my life changing interview I got the call that I got the job so I pulled over in my truck because I was driving on mental autopilot at that point and I screamed and laughed like a maniac on the side or the road.
at 2:46, you can see the lead boss's smile on his face and he's so happy for Chris. Someone who really needed the job, and also worked hard for it, got it! :D
I think it's vool that Will looks like an extra when he walks out to the crowd. He's having the most profound life changing moment of his life, after years of struggle, and he's just one of many. If you were one of those people on the sidewalk you might glance over and ask, what's up with that guy, and go about your business. You never know the stories and struggles of those around you.
The part that gets me is when the boss asks “was it as easy as it looks” and when the camera stays on will a few seconds, I just have a very quick flashback of all the adversity and hardship and dedication he showed from the beginning of the movie up until that very moment. That’s what life and purpose is all about.
This is how I’m feeling at this exact moment. I just paid my house in four years. Four years of tears, having two jobs, missing many things with my children, feeling tired and exhausted all the time. 4 years of not having a day for myself, 4 years of struggle, hardships, not being able to make it to parties, reunions, and many times not even having time to eat. Thank God all mighty
"Hey, Listen. No matter what happens today, you did a fantastic job here....." I heard those words right before I was laid off. That's why this scene was so powerful. I thought he wasn't going to get the job and find some other way. But the movie threw us for a loop. Such a great scene!
I’ve been there. That moment is a flood of emotions. You want to jump for joy, kneel down and cry and thank God all at the same time. The immense weight lifted off your shoulders is liberating.
One of the most underrated scenes is the bathroom moment before the meeting, when R.J. says: "Listen, whatever happens, you’ve done a fantastic job, Chris. I mean that." This scene is a hidden gem that many might overlook. It highlights an essential truth: even when outcomes are uncertain, it’s clear to everyone that Chris has genuinely done his best. Acknowledging great work is often underrated in today’s corporate world. While there may be times when companies cannot financially reward exceptional performance, a simple word of encouragement or act of kindness can mean the world to someone.
Finally got hired for a job after a year plus of searching and this scene played in my head. As much as I wanted to stop in the middle of the sidewalk and just let it sink in too, I was happy enough to just think about this scene, go home, call my folks and tell them the good news!
Watching that as a 15 year old I didn't understand, now I'm in my 30s and I'm bawling my eyes out because I know how much being hired really means.
dawg this market rn lmfao
And if it's a good job that's going to pay all your bills and not be behind anymore paying half now half later smh

Seen it 900 times.... still bawling!
I watch this as a kid and went thru this as an adult, & to watch it again from a different perspective gives me a whole new type of appreciation for Will Smiths performance. Until you have experienced this feeling of struggle and uncertainty, you will never understand.
Will Smiths best ever film. Beautiful
too bad he ruined the most important night of his life over some stupid bs
Brilliant direction choice having him submerged in the stream of people at the end. It makes his physical joy really stand out all the more.
I think a lot of people also miss the deeper layer of that scene. Those people are all working citizens. He finally 'fits' in, but while a lot of them are most likely not happy with what they have, Chris had to fight very hard to get in that same position as them.
If you're not holding back your tears, you have a lot to learn.
This scene will make any grown man cry
I just got laid off a month ago, from a job of 20 years, cuz they went bankrupt. Its scary starting over and change can be intimidating. All we can do is keep trying and never give up.
Hope it worked out !
whenever i watch this scene tears rolls down on my check
😢 yup...me too
Your butt checks
Being a 32 this year, have a wife and 1 child, an unemployed, really pulled me of to watch this..
You ok now man? Any update after 7 months?
When you have that feeling that you made it and can provide for your family and have the satisfaction of knowing you are valuable and skilled and wanted, it is the ultimate rush of happiness. Inspirational.
I love how even his celebration is so humble..nothing flashy or extravagant or trying to be cool.
He just experiences simple pure joy
Same thing is happening to me, this expression on his face and the feeling of joy is real.
The soft piano coming in aa the releave of happyness builds up within him is just beautiful
2:46 the tissue box comes out
Exactly how I felt when I finally got my GED at 35 and I finally get to choose my next career
In my opinion, no work he’s ever done comes close to this movie. He brought tears to my eyes multiple times.
This scene makes me cry it's like everything he's worked hard for finally came true for him
Him clapping in a sea of people is the most relatable thing.
Keep your heads up
Will Smith’s acting in this scene is one of the all time best. Incredibly delivered!!!
When he runs down the steps and start crying and clapping gets me every time.
Kids today all cry about stuff they don't deserve yet feels they entitled to , they don't know what it feels like to be truly happy when your hard work bear fruits..
Never in your life should you stop fighting. Troll Will all you want but he delivered this message in a form no one else could ever. Amazing actor.
I have a job interview on the 27th I'm praying I get. It would be life changing for me and I hope to finally experience what he felt.
YOU WILL GET IT!!!!! I PRAY TO GOD THAT YOU WILL !
@Mmmkay10 that honestly means so much to me , you have no idea. Thank you 🙏🏾
yo how’d it go?
@theantrules6436 I felt I did horrible...I feel defeated. I just have to wait the next few days to see what happens
@@engitions gl dude hope u make it!
Wills Smith you made us have tears in eyes….this whole movie….it was you….not one of ur best performance…but it is THE PERFORMANCE….10000 claps and love from India..
I love will not only as an amazing actor but as a human too,may God bless him with all the happiness hr deserve.
Love that he just couldn't wait to celebrate with his son, great movie about never giving up.
He shook 3 hands when he walked in but shook 4 when he was walking out
His manager, I presume, was the 4th (the guy who asked him to come into the room) -- he didn't shake his hand on the way in
Jay and Chris conversation was genuine😊
This movie shows that you're gonna go through trials and tribulations. U just gotta keep the faith cause God knows everything
watching both my mom and dad work there asses off to get their jobs/career they have now made me appreciate this movie more.
This has to be one of the most uplifting moments in film history. Where theres a will theres a way no pun intended.
This was such an emotionalk scene. This reminds me a lot of my father who came from nothing and became a successful businessman on wall street. This is so inspiring. I know what it is like to be hired in general. Not a better feeling in the world.
My old job recently asked me back. I know how he feels. Cant wait to be back with everyone.
I appreciate them all watching him walk out of the meeting with confidence in his steps.
As a parent this movie hits different
I can’t watch this without crying. I’m so happy for Chris and proud of Will in this role. One of my idols
The last scene makes me cry every single time! I know how hard it can be to get a job and the excitement and relief when you get one!! ❤
Made me remember the day i got a call for a job after several tries and being at my lowest. These moments are blessings and i wish everyone experiences them in life and succeed in their pursuit of happiness.
That ending every time even if you try you still cry.
I just landed my dream job at a global tech company with highest salary of my life in my 30s after internships, countless interviews, rejections, part-time, casual low paying jobs, struggling to pay bills :( I cried so much watching this now :(
2:20 I don’t care what you think about will smith but this is good acting.
I hope, everyone will find themself in what they want to do and what fullfills their needs. Because this happyness will change your life and you will be the best worker on that position, because you know you dont want to lose that.
hello, I liked your story a lot. What is your job? :) I just got curious to see what makes you feel so fulfilled. All the best
@@adfbi hey man, dont want to be that specific right here... But lets say, that i was doing different job, that my dad wanted me to push into even had the school for it...
Then i realized i want to do the job i dreamed as a Kid... And after few attempts i succeeded. Thats it.
@@adfbi you Can write me email If you want...
It's absolutely great and I wish you a lot of happiness and health,@@Penguinecek :) thanks for the quick reply. I'm on my change journey too: I've quit my last job to pursuit the right job for me! Today I have an interview...I'm a bit nervous.
@@adfbi good luck Buddy... Dont lie to them and dont lie to yourself... Be humble and show your heart there you will succeed!
One of my favorite films. Can’t believe he didn’t win an Oscar for this performance.
They captured that feeling perfectly!! On the way home from my life changing interview I got the call that I got the job so I pulled over in my truck because I was driving on mental autopilot at that point and I screamed and laughed like a maniac on the side or the road.
I cannot get through this scene without the tears falling 😢Wonderful movie❤
3:42 clapping on your own success is literally emotional scene
at 2:46, you can see the lead boss's smile on his face and he's so happy for Chris. Someone who really needed the job, and also worked hard for it, got it! :D
This kind of moment is everything we all wait for. Can’t think of a better movie scene that exhibits this kind of happiness & relief
Beautiful movie. One of his ultimate best films.
This feeling is heavenly.
Another recession coming keep fighting bro you got this
Anyone else come to this video every so often and cry everytime or just me 😭
"Hey, Listen. No matter what happens today, you did a fantastic job here....." I heard those words right before I was laid off.
That's why this scene was so powerful. I thought he wasn't going to get the job and find some other way. But the movie threw us for a loop. Such a great scene!
I cried like a baby at this scene. 😢
So happy for Chris.
I tell. When a man cry, he has achieved something gr8 or lost something valuable!
I loved this man....his behavior at the Oscars followed by his inexcusable behavior afterwards just broke my heart.
I knew Chris personally. I was amongst 3 other directors who hired him back in 1982 at Bear Stearns.
Such an extraordinary human.
That's insane. Can you share any detail about movie vs real life?
I’ve been there. That moment is a flood of emotions. You want to jump for joy, kneel down and cry and thank God all at the same time. The immense weight lifted off your shoulders is liberating.
The build up to this scene makes you feel like YOU got the job😢
One of the most underrated scenes is the bathroom moment before the meeting, when R.J. says: "Listen, whatever happens, you’ve done a fantastic job, Chris. I mean that."
This scene is a hidden gem that many might overlook.
I have a huge job interview tomorrow that will change my life if I get it. Watching for the motivation
Did you get it?
Same here. Got a big one tomorrow and watching for same reason
You got it?
Finally got hired for a job after a year plus of searching and this scene played in my head. As much as I wanted to stop in the middle of the sidewalk and just let it sink in too, I was happy enough to just think about this scene, go home, call my folks and tell them the good news!
congrats
@@hxrshrxwxt thank you!
Will seems to get emotional in a lot of his movies & in real life.
This film came out 3 years before my dad passed away. The ending is more moving now, years now.
