That is a tension issue. We all crochet with a different tension. You can try a smaller hook but it will be hard to tell ahead of time if that will make it the right size or too small.
Need help. I’m confused about 3rd strand crochet into button base patch. After I’m done crocheting around this base, I’m starting my 4th strand next to the 1st strand NOT next to the 3rd. This doesn’t seem right. Is this right? What am I missing here? Thanx

I used the same size crochet hook and the same size yarn and mine was 5 inches longer than the model.

@@WindingRoadCrochet its the smallest hook I own. 3.00 . It couldnt have been any tighter. Maybe because I used cotton yarn.

The 4th strand will actually be the strand closest to your neck. We are working in a spiral and not back and forth.
