6:37- I remember even as a kid, this always confused me. There were quite a few cartoons I saw growing up set in elementary school that had lockers, and all I could think was 'My school doesn't have lockers'.
I was that “yay! It’s the first day of school!” kid. Two weeks into summer vacation I was dying to go back to where the adults told me how smart I was and kids had to pretend to be friendly (I was bullied pretty bad, but I was bullied by the same people in my own neighborhood.)
If I recall this actually wasn't the first time dexter and "Mandark" also known as "Susan" his birth name given to him by his hippie parents meet. That episode explains why he dislikes Dexter so much. "A boy named Sue" that's the episode
Good old Dexter it's been a long time hasn't it old friend? Oh how time flies from getting up and watching Dexter on a Saturday morning to waking up late on Saturday for the sake of some rest and then remembering you have responsibilities now.
A good follow-up to this one would be sister mom where dexter makes his sister look like his parent to attend a parent teacher conference. It turns out all that happened is that dexter got an a minus on a test yet they act like its the end of the world Also because dexter amd dee dee fight like well brother and sister while looking like parent and child the principal has them all attend a follow up meeting with the counselor
I don't remember everything about the lore behind this show, but I do remember Mandark having a pretty unique backstory. His parents smothered him with New Age pacifism and progressive ideologies until he snapped, going to the opposite extreme by changing his name and embracing every lifestyle choice they hated. If you think he's a villain now, it gets way worse.
On the board in this episode is pretty accurate, because when I was in private school, we had to know about that stuff, which was too advanced, but teachers do like to challenge us sometimes.
@ Didn’t he also star in Scooby Doo in. Arabian Nights as well? Pretty sure he played the Calliaph (not sure if that spelled it correctly please correct me on that lol).
While I did not have the same teacher all year for more than one year, I was in the same classroom for 3 years in a row (4-6 grades, with my 6th science being done in a separate classroom), though it had been a school designated pre-K through 12th grade. Also, there’s an equivalent episode with their sisters.
The one logic fail from the Dexter laboratory show had me wonder:"How the heck does Dexter's parents not know their son has a laboratory!? Their electric bill must be higher than Wiz khalifa or Willie Nelson.!"
I'm not exactly sure what grade Dexter was in, but I do remember there was an episode he went to college and was roughly the same age lol. Also, one of the reasons Dexter and Mandark are rivals is because Dexter made fun of his actual name, which is Susan.
Late in this 1 but love this show when i was a kid, the 90’s to mid 2000 era, is my childhood cartoons, modern cartoon shows I’ll watch to see if I enjoy it, there is some i do enjoy others just fun to watch
In a later season, there's an episode that goes in depth with Mandarks backstory. And lets just say that his rivalry with Dexter is a bit deeper and more personal
The kind of school/teaching style is very accurate for my experience as class of 2013. Unfortunately. Yep we had smart students answer all the questions just like that, no real focus on the class as a whole learning. Every word of criticism from you applies to my educational journey.
The principal on Dexter's Laboratory is never consistent. There are 5 episodes (including this one) where the principal appears and it's never the same person.
I wonder how many people(aside from DeeDee) know about the lab? Did that one kid that told Mandark actually know or were they just guessing with how smart Dexter is? 12:58 💡 13:55 Well at least she thought about it first.
Some suggestions maybe; The Peter Principal (Family Guy), Tick-Tick-Tick (Kim Possible), Little Horrors of Shop (King of the Hill), Bob and Deliver (Bob's Burgers), and the Teacher Strike episode of Dairia, Pepperanne, and Hey Arnold!
I use to watch a bit of Dexter's Lab back in the day, but I was definitely more into PowerPuff girls, Pokemon, and stuff. I really love Dexter as a character though and episodes like this are just awesome. So happy to see it.
Ah, this takes me back. Yeah Dexter was pretty good back in the day. Many of the episodes aren't connected but there are some interesting school themed ones. Glad you gave this one a shot.
@@klaibornelorenzo6397 I absolutely love Dexter's Lab. It's my 2nd favorite Cartoon Network show for sure and is in my top 20 favorite shows/anime overall all least.
I loved this show as a kid! And I remember this episode well. Mandark is basically to Dexter what Mr. Crocker was to Timmy Turner, and it's only the start of their crazy rivalry.
If memory serves, Dexter is not an elementary school student. He's either a middle school or high school student. But he's like 5 years old or something.
since I assume you're new to this show, I'll explain. early on, Mandark was a rival to Dexter who wanted to prove he was superior to him. but then when the show was brought back for two more seasons (seasons 3 and 4 were kinda meh to be honest and they made several unnecessary changes), they made him a full-blown villain. also if you want another episode to react to, there's one where Dexter gets detention for the first time. the episode is called "Detention" if I remember correctly
The grim aventure of Billy and Mandy might be niece for some reaction. For instance there's an episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy where Principal Goodvibes becomes a hip-hopper is titled "Goodbling and the Hip-Hop-Opotamus" and is the 11th episode of season 5.
we gotta get you to watch "whatever happened to robot jones?" not only is the style of the show super retro taking style notes from the "school house rock" animations, but its also set in the 80s and oozes that culture. but also every episode is literally about robot jones trying to get through his adolescent phase and learning to fit in with humans. every episode takes place in school and so many episodes do deal with school related stuff. the episodes are all easily available in full on youtube too. safety patrol/popularity and house party/ school newspaper pe to pu/ vacuum friend are pretty good episodes. but you can pretty much start anywhere.
Mandark: I'll leave this trail of candy and DeeDee will come over. I'll make her fall in love with me. Maybe we'll even kiss after dancing. Me: You want to kiss the lips of someone who has eaten food from the floor? Especially food on the streets for who knows how many miles?
Maybe you could react to The Kim Possible Episode Car Trouble Which is Season 2 Episode 5 or Homecoming Upset Which is Season 4 Episode 18. I would recommend Watching So the drama first if you decide to React to Homecoming Upset.
Mandark never changes his mind about Dee Dee. He still likes her after this.
"Yes Dexter, I can read your thoughts, and I AM smarter than you." 😳
😂
Dexter: "At last! The first day of school has come!"
1:28 Morning montage 2:22

The 7th and 8th graders with classes upstairs in my school did

Wow 😮
Sorry you had that experience.
The kids at your school must love you

One of the best shows to come out of my childhood grew up with this on reruns on cartoon Network right before samurai Jack ❤❤
Same for me too
Neptune has multiple moons.
Dexter sounds like Chuckie Finster from Rugrats
Same voice actress Christine Cavanaugh also the voice of Babe the Pig.
@EChacon and she is also the voice of Oblina
One of my favorite episodes of Dexter's Laboratory. The first episode of the show that watched and made me love the show.

I love the dodgeball episode... I can't tell you why, but it's too hilarious.
Fun fact: Mandark is voiced by the same actor who plays the annoying bratty know it all kid from the Polar Express.
He was also the voice of Ned from Kim Possible and Gibby Norton from Whats New Scooby Doo.
@ Didn’t he also star in Scooby Doo in. Arabian Nights as well? Pretty sure he played the Calliaph (not sure if that spelled it correctly please correct me on that lol).
Also, while a bit obnoxious, Mandark’s laughter is an iconic 90s sound.
And the magpie from Rock a Doodle.
His name is Eddie Deeze

Looks like Dexter FINALLY met his match
Mandark is Dexter's rival. He's very smart and make inventions like Dexter. He also has a big crush on Dee Dee. Dexter is so happy in the end
🤓🤓🤓😍😍😍
This show was my childhood. Another fun/interesting reaction!
Thanks 😊

Thanks so much for the feedback! 😎👍
Teachers: What is the name of Neptune's moon?
Mandark: Triton.
Neptune's fifteen other moons: 😞
In season 2, there’s an episode similar to this one called “Dee Dee’s Rival” where Mandark has a sister.
I'm not exactly sure what grade Dexter was in, but I do remember there was an episode he went to college and was roughly the same age lol. Also, one of the reasons Dexter and Mandark are rivals is because Dexter made fun of his actual name, which is Susan.
