I love how much John Mayer can mix this great little song up. So many guitar versions to this. I've lost track of how many versions of this song I've now heard and i love them all!
It really is amazing the way that he's never afraid to play his songs in new ways. Whether it's Wheel going from 4 to 16 minutes or Split Screen Sadness acoustic; he's always trying to reinvent his old self. I wish that there were more musicians that had the guts to do this.

The harmonies in the song is really outstanding! I didn't care much for this song at first, especially because i thought it was stupid that Taylor Swift was in it, but that aside, it is by far one of his best songs acoustics, he's done alot of good stuff, but this one is simple, very melodic and catching - plus it's a lot of fun to play and sing ! :D
@ptaac94 Yeah mine too. I just like the live versions of the songs. It's just amazing what he does. He has an amazing voice but the way he plays guitar is just legendary.
@Jagshemasher It's a studio acoustic. He's probably playing both guitars on separate tracks. I really like the acoustic set to video of him being in Japan. One guitar, one voice. Works great.

@LucyVanPelt983 Taylor IS talented. She's able to play and write songs that touch people. It may not touch you but it does plenty of others. That's all that matters. So long as there are people out there that enjoy her music, her work is valid. John appreciates all different kinds of music, not just what he himself plays.
What everyone needs to do is chill out. People make music because its their interpretation on life. The beauty of it is everyone is different, thats why its special. Who gives a fuck what bad shit people have to say. And thats most artist mind set "in my opinion". You did it, and its beautiful in every way. So stop trying to compare artist. I like the variety of songs on the album Live in L.A. and it is my favourite because John Mayer shows us what he can do with a guitar. I saw him live once and it blew my mind. I love the albums, don't get me wrong, he's just so much better live.
I'm pretty sure it's just a power chord x133xx, then an F, C, then an F again. Sounds weird, but if you throw in the little licks he's doing at the same time it works out
@jetpacksfortheneedy That's just kinda how John is. He's trying a new approach with new albums. Battle Studies is kind of an ode to California rock in the 70's-80's. A little more folky like Tom Petty, etc. He's said himself how it's more "open" and less guitar fills on it, but he'll probably have more intricate guitar playing and whatnot on his next record, so don't fret.
