Australia is my country of choice when l migrated 45 years ago and still cry listening to this. I am so proud to be Australian and love love this song.
Wow, I've never seen this version before and it's moments like this that makes me proud to be Australian. It brought tears to my eyes. And man, did Hugh Jackman finish that strong!! 🇦🇺🦘🐨❤️
I forgot Russell Crowe had a band in the late 1990s until I saw him singing. It was called 30 Odd Foot of Grunts. RIP Olivia Newton John

My parents brought me to Australian as a teen. I am 79 and am so proud of my Australian sons and daughter and grandchildren. Thank you Dad for bringing me to this great land.
Check out this song used in an advertisement for our airline QANTAS, which announced that Australia is open for business. A post Covid emotional response for Aussies who were stuck in other countries when Australia closed down its borders to protect us from rampant covid cases coming into our country. Even though many Aussies believe we should have closed down in January 2020 instead of March 2020. Ruby Princess ship bought covid our shores.
A wonderful song written by Peter Allan , Australia's original showman . Very fitting that Hugh Jackman sang such a large bit of this , almost as a tribute. Fantastic to know you are planning a trip to come see Australia , you will thoroughly love it.
I remember when Peter Allen was part of the Allen Bros and used to perform on Bandstand in the 60's. I loved him singing "I go to Rio" he had so much energy.
Thankyou for taking on my request. You did get a little confused. Olivia Newton-John - she is not Olivia Newton. Her name is hyphenated. Also the man you didn't recognise was Keith Urban. Originally from New Zealand but grew up in Queensland, Australia. He made a name for himself in Australia first as a country and western singer and then went to Nashville. He is very well known and often is a judge on things like America's Got Talent. He married Nicole Kidman and they have two daughters together. There were other stars there at the time like Bono but he wasn't involved in that because he is not Australian. Russell Crowe, like Keith, was born in New Zealand. Technically he is a Kiwi. However he considers himself more than Aussie because he has lived most of his life in Australia (when he wasn't in Hollywood) and he was married to an Australian and had Australian sons. He could not get citizenship unless he spent something like 8 months of each year in Australia and his work was taking him abroad too much, but definitely wanted to get Australian citizenship. He may have succeeded in more recent times. I don't know that for sure. I hope you do manage to get to Australia and see your nieces some day. It is a nice place to visit. Thankyou once again.
Keith Urban and Russel Crowe are Australian ! They were born somewhere else, as were John Farnham and Olivia Newton John, but they have lived and were gought UP in AUSTRALIA.....just as the bee gees were!
The opening with the amazing sound of the didgeridoo & the young choir boy singing in his native mother tongue are a wonderful introduction to a great summer land, Australia. All of the entertainers showed the quality of people we have here. If you do decide to visit Australia make time to travel around the whole continent including the centre & walk around Uluru also visit the wonderful island called Tasmania.
I have travelled overseas for a short time and enjoyed it immensely! But, I was homesick ( I was only gone 5 weeks plus 3 days) When we landed in Brisbane Qld I could have kissed the ground. I was so happy to be HOME! I’m a Proud Australian and I love our Country ❤️ This performance of our Aussie stars is moving and totally brilliant!
My mum was born in Italy , she came to Australia when she was only 10, went back to Italy for a holiday 3 times to visit family , said she loved it , but she missed ( home tremendously) Australia and said she would never live anywhere but Australia
Yeah me too. Gone 3 weeks overseas and I was so homesick. When we got back to Melbourne and I saw a tram again I broke down in tears. I adore my home country, Australia.
The guy that wrote the song, Peter Allen did a show called 'The Boy From OZ'... Hugh played him in the stageshow - you should check out some of the videos from that -' Not the boy next door ' and ' I go to Rio'. are two favourites.... he also wrote 'I honestly love you' which was done by Olivia Newton John and is part of the Boy From OZ soundtrack...you would probably know that one !
Wow, I’ve watched several versions of this song and I still tear up. It was very special to hear and see so many Australians, world travellers, declare their Australian 🇦🇺 heritage so proudly 🙏🏼👏
Of all the North Americans I've seen react to this song, I reckon yours is the best. Come visit us. You seem like you have the right attitude to really enjoy our hospitality with the spirit it's intended.
Today in Australia It's the 26th of January. Australia Day. What a find today as it makes me feel proud even more to hear this and for being Australian.
I'm an Australian Male, born 1950, and as I lived and learned, by heck, I started to understand and realise as I learned into my early '20', by God Almighty, I am one very fortunate, lucky individual, I am Australian!.
The guy you thought was John Farnham is Keith Urban. He is from Caboolture just north of Brisbane and is a huge C&W star in the USA. He also happens to be married to Nicole Kidman who was by his side.
It’s much more then a Qantas ad. Peter Allen wrote it . He married Liza Minnelli who was judy garlands daughter . Try listening to Peter Allen’s version then find tentafield traveler . It’s beautiful and yes They did a wonderful job
Hello, Tatosphere. I am an Australian, born and bred. I can assure you that the emotion is real. My tender love and sense of protectiveness is real. My emotions push up hard. Can I say Hello to Mexico? Awesome land there too. I wish you the best. 👍💜🎶💖
Hugh Jackman got famous in America by playing Peter Allen - the man who wrote this song - on broadway 😊 That’s why we love seeing him before it 30 years later. He was also Gaston in Beauty and the Beast
So we told you, straight, we're Australian mate. And no matter where we roam. We still call THIS island home. Bottom line, there are TWO groups, Aussies and those who wish they were.
One of the best things about this performance was that only Hugh Jackman is Australian by birth. Yet they all love Australia deeply and spent their early years here. Nicole- born Hawaii to Australian parents raised here, Keith- New Zealand (NZ) Olivia-born Cambridge, England raised here, Russell Crowe ( rhymes with tow, bow, sow) NZ, wants citizenship here. Arrived here aged 4 returned for 2 years when aged 14-16 returning aged 21.
The John is a part of Olivia's last name, OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN, internationally famous and a beautiful voice, starred in the movie Grease, look her up, you will be glad you did.
The one you didn't recognize was Keith Urban. He is Nicole Kidman's husband. He was born in New Zealand, but Australia has adopted him into our hearts because he treats our Nicole Kidman with love and respect.
The singer you didn't know is Keith Urban, married to Nicole Kidman. They live in the US. The John you mentioned is Olivia Newton John..It's her full surname. Thank you for playing this ....Always tears.
Keith Urban is one of the most recognised country singers in USA has won 4 Grammys and 15 academy of country music awards like all on stage he is a master at what he does.
When Hugh entered he came down on a flying Fox (zip line) onto the stage but hit his head on the buckle at the end of the rope. Had blood everywhere lol but went on to perform anyway
My closest friends here in Oz are from Cuernavaca. Abuela is my 'Aussie' mum ( I'm from the UK) . My family have spent every Mexican Christmas with them for the last 30 years. I hope you really enjoy your time in Australia. 😊🇦🇺
That is a good point. I wouldn't have thought of that angle about John but yes, even if she was aware, she probably didn't want John because he focussed his career in Australia and her mainly American audience back home would not recognise him. Also, I don't think Hugh can match John in singing. Don't get me wrong, I know he is very talented but his singing voice is not up to par as far as I am concerned. My fave Aussie singer, unfortunately dead now, was the late Michael Hutchence. Loved his clear voice. Not in the raspy type of singing and as much as so many people would disagree with me on this, I hate Jimmy Barnes' style of singing - to me that is just yelling.
It was The guy you didn’t recognise Is Keith Urban, Husband to Nicole Kidman, And AUstralian Country Music Ledgend. And john, Was Recently deceased Star of Grease, And world rebound singer Dame Olivia Newton-John
LOL. Keith Urban and Russell Crow are both New Zealand born and still, to this day, travel the world using their New Zealand Passports. However, yes, they do consider themselves Aussies instead of Kiwis.
Of those Aussie stars Hugh Jackman was the only one born in Australia. ( Sydney). Even though Nicole Kidman has Australian parents she was born in Hawaii, Keith Urban and Russell Crowe were born in New Zealand and Olivia Newton-John was born in England as was John Farnham.
Keith Urban is an Australian country singer who is a big star in the US and had many big hits there. He's married to Nicole Kidman and they live in Nashville with their kids but haven't forgotten their Australian routes. The only John there was Olivia Newton John. John Farnham (Australia's favourite son) wasn't included as he's not well known in the US.
That is Keith Urban he is a country singer and he is married to Nicole Kidman. Thanks for sharing that version. It's fantastic. Come Downunder we will welcome you.

Best country in the world to live in. Blessed to be born here . Now all we need to do as patriotic Australians is replace the King of England as our Head of State with an AUSTRALIAN and become a truly and fully sovereign nation in our own right !!!!!!
We can't even get a decent PM and you want a republic? Pass. The most successful democracies in the world are part of a monarchy. Our parliament is already being taken over by every woke crazy, led by the weakest PM ever. Gawd help us if something bad happens that requires him to be a leader. Not called jellyfish back for nothing. Be careful what you wish for.
Wow That really stirs up something inside As an Aussie It makes me proud to be an Aussie national I currently reside in Hiroshima Japan But I still call Sydney Australia home !
After that lovely tribute to Australia, I would love you to do a reaction to Vanessa Amorosi. She wrote an inspirational song called Heroes live forever and sang it at the opening of the Olympic Games Sydney 2000. She was only 19 at the time, but she has an incredible voice which will blow you away. Count how long she holds that last note.😮
The guy you didn't recognize is Keith Urban. Originally born in N.Z. but lived in Australia before making Nashville his home. Keith is a hugely successful , International, Country artist & amazing guitarist. He is also married to Nicole Kidman.
Keith Urban - Aussie Country Music Singer that made it in the US market (now married to Nicole Kidman). This song might ring a bell? Link - ua-cam.com/video/eiBinM-f-Pk/v-deo.html

I've never seen it either! Wonderful and it makes me proud too.
Same here. Still think Allen's was best but I don't think I've heard a bad one.
A couple of times, he held the notes longer than the other singers
I’m crying so much watching this, I’m so proud to be Australian when I see this
I forgot Russell Crowe had a band in the late 1990s until I saw him singing. It was called 30 Odd Foot of Grunts.

I still reckon it should be our national anthem.
