One of my last (and by far most memorable) trips on this magnificent aircraft was on 26 June 2015, on a daytime flight from LHR to IAH with BA. I was flying as a "young traveller" (accompained by the airline, as I was too young for BA to let me travel alone), and I was sitting in economy class. During the climb to cruising altitude, I noticed that the in-flight entertainment system for my seat was either faulty, and thus I let the crew know about this. After some time, a flight attendant gestured me to follow her... she had discussed about my issue with the crew, and, to my amazement, they decided to let me transfer to a set in Business class for the remaining 3/4 of the flight! As a 12-year-old and aviation enthusiast, you can imagine my amazement and joy... to me, it was like being in a 5-star hotel, with members of the crew offering me food regularly while I rested in a fully-reclinable seat watching movie after movie and sleeping for 5+ hours! Truly an unforgettable journey, and sadly, one of the last (if not the last) trip I ever had on this incredible aircraft before its retirement with BA in October of last year. Coincidentally, I was under the flight path of both of the 747s that took off from Heathrow for the last time, although I could not unfortunately spot either because I had school that day (and decided, with sorrow, not to skip class to go to Heathrow) as well as it being overcast!... Nonetheless, I will treasure my experiences with this aircraft for the rest of my life, and consider myself lucky enough to have been able to even fly in one at such a young age. *Long live the Queen of the Skies!*
Gabriel - thanks for the fantastic memory. For many years the upper deck was my second home. I was lucky enough to have had dozens of business trips which gave me a chance to enjoy the “private jet” feeling you got from being upstairs on the Queen of the Skies. She’ll always be my favorite airplane!
as a former BA staff for 35 years this video made me crying! I was still on duty when I made my last trip LHRBOS, so I did use the staff facilities to fly in Club class and it was a stunning journey, confortable, quiet and, why not, still with good food. Now also BA has forgotten not only the 747 but also the service and the food. What a pity!
I was gutted when nearly all the airlines grounded their 747 fleets. I was only ever on one once and it was BA LHR to St Lucia in 1994 for our honeymoon. Sadly like BA 747s, my marriage too, is no more.
Wonderful birds. I absolutely loved working on, in and around the British Airways 747. Many wonderful flights across the world and money can't buy experiences. Great vid!
My last flight on the B747-400 was in July of 2018 from London to Phoenix. Seat 33A was one of my favorite window seats. Especially 36A since we have the lavatory behind us.
Unfortunately I never got to fly on one of these before the expedited retirement as a result of the pandemic, but I will no doubt reminisce my visits to LHR, spotting, seeing 747’s come in and out so frequently!
I used to fly on the Northwest Orient service between LGW/MSP back when Y had the 3-4-2 configuration. Only time on a BA 747-400 was upper deck Y LHR/NRT in 1991. Layout was 3-3 and I was in 66A. Similar experience in upper deck Y on Ansett Australia HKG (Kai Tak)/SYD and SYD/KIX. Great memories.
Nice video. I have similar memories of many enjoyable flights on the upper deck - a few across the Atlantic, but mainly between Dubai and Europe. My preferred flight to and fro was with KLM. They had daily return flights to Dubai, which started in Amsterdam and stopped off in Vienna before heading to Dubai. I enjoyed KLM's upper deck so much that regardless of where I was in Europe, even if I was closer to a different carrier's base, I'd get a flight to Amsterdam or Vienna so I could get their flight back to Dubai. As I result, I have an impressive collection of those little Dutch houses that they gave us on the flight! Great memories.
When I worked in tso ( transaero) I did line maintenance b1 category for this aircraft and 3 types engines: rb211, pw4000,cf-6 , I’m love this plane ✈️.
I've only flown on a B747-400 only once, with EVA AIR; and that's resulted from aircraft change from a B777-300ER. It was an unforgettable experience although the cabin was very dated and the IFE was small and unresponsive. IFE on this B747 looked pretty nice though
Not 17 hours, but 8 or 9. I'm 6 foot 6 inches tall and not designed for the available legroom. Woman next to the window had to leave her seat at least once an hour. She also was an evangelical Christian who wanted to talk about Jesus. As a Catholic priest, I love Jesus too, but I don't need to talk about him all the time. Finally, I decided to get up and walk about or just stand in the back, but the flight crew seemed to know when I left my seat and frequently turned on the Fasten Seatbelt sign, sending me scurrying back to my middle seat. There's more, but I'll just add, as you did: No nostalgia at all, I can assure you.
When I lived for while in the UK, I saw it everywhere. In a train, but mostly in the busses - put feet on seat opposite. You can't imagine, how I hate it! And here is same! It's some kind of UK culture? (or just arrogance?)

she will always be the queen of the skies. Thanks for sharing the experience
That plane. That food and drink and that airport. And Alan Partridge too! Fabulous.
Alan Partridge was definitely the icing on the cake.
64K was my favourite seat. Privacy, space with plenty of storage, and the quietness of the upper deck. It's so much better than the A380.
What's wrong with the a380. It is quiet and smooth, has an upper deck, and British Airways still uses the a380.

It is so sad that the 747 from british airways didn't fly anymore
It really is.
My last BA 747 flight was in December 2019, from LHR-JFK. I also got seat 64K, and so glad I did…. This video gives me all the feels!
This video did make me feel nostalgic, as I often used to fly LHR-SIN on BA. I agree that 64k was the best seat in the house!

Experiences British Airways 747 were always my favorite. I will never forget how much she inspired me. I still miss my dear friend
January 2020 I had the pleasure of a 747 from San Diego to LHR. Wonderful aircraft.
Upper deck 747 will always be my favorite. As crew or passenger!
I'm gonna really miss the queen😭

Beautiful!
It is so sad that they retired the 747.
But really nice you can show us some footage of an old flight on it

BEA A320, Landor 744, BOAC 744 - Unreal catches!
Pretty lucky eh?
it was my fav 747 i loved that screech sound
Great vlog as always my friend! Thank you for the answer on the DL miles. So many black out dates and flights? That is no good. Keep up the good work!
My first, last and only flight on the Queen was London to Cape Town and back. Seat 63K and I loved the old girl.
This is my favorite plane! I LOVE IT

Nice! And great added bonus to collect a lot of the Delft houses!

Super video - shame these were retired though :(

Quel magnifique avion: c'est vraiment la reine du ciel !!! I love it ! 😉❤❤❤
Amazing footage there. May I know which Camera and lenses you have used to shoot this?
Thanks! This video was actually shot with a Canon G7X Mark 3. Nice compact camera, though it has some flaws too. These days we mostly use Sony.
Cool vid, but can't believe you faded out the landing at the end!
Honestly, the camera battery died right at that moment 😆. We will always endeavor to bring you full landings in future!
2:44 CONCORDE ON THE RIGHTAHHH
Still one of the best airlines in the world. I don’t know why people love to hate BA, but they certainly do. 😢 🇬🇧
Have anyone ever made a trip of 17 hours on the middle row economyclass in a 747? No nostalgia at all, I can asure you.

Yes in the 19th to Mauritius 🇲🇺, with 2 stop over. I must say that I used to enjoy the flight ✈️
Hi
have never even seen one in person
Heathrow looks empty without its 747
When I lived for while in the UK, I saw it everywhere. In a train, but mostly in the busses - put feet on seat opposite. You can't imagine, how I hate it! And here is same! It's some kind of UK culture? (or just arrogance?)
Definitely an arrogance thing!
Would you rather:
Fly in a boeing 747
Or
Fly in an airbus a380
Aaaand …. You ruined it with stupid music
