Maps: www.mobilemaple...
Wi-Fi Finder: www.jiwire.com/... or www.jiwire.com/...
Currency Converter: www.tapbots.com... (Note: This actually converts all types of units as well. Make sure to turn OFF the Auto Update function.)
Dictionary: Will vary by language. Many options to choose from.
I'm Italian and I love the fact that you are able to say some words in my language, and with the right pronounciation :)
I really love your Vlogs your advice is always really helpful. I am planning an overseas holiday atm and every Monday it seems like you answer all my questions.
these are so helpful! travelling to the netherlands, belgium and denmark next sunday and I'm taking all of your tips along with me (used them when I went to Austria in December!)
Thanks for your suggestion!
Thanks for watching!
Great idea!!
I love your videos! I don't travel much but they make me feel so prepared :)
Thanks!!
love your travel tips!! Also you look a bit like sandra bullock haha!
Awesome video! Not really planning on going anywhere, but it's just fun to watch!
Loved the mexican signs!
These are great, Sonia. An I app I like to use for travel is called Pack The Bag. It's free and It gives you suggested items you may Need to pack and you can add or remove various packing items and/or create your own specific packing list, which is what I did. It takes time to make a personalized list, but the time was worth it to me bc now I can go through and check the items off as I pack and I know I'm set.
That's a great idea. Thanks for writing!
very good tips, thanks a lot
Very cool vlog Sonia! I love traveling and languages, too! Keep on!
Five :) English, Spanish, French, Italian and Mandarin! With different levels of fluency though..
Thanks for watching!!
Me encantan tus vídeos!!!! Eres super simpática :)
Thank you!
Yes, Irish! why do you ask? :) We learn it in school in Ireland from the ages of 5-18, and as a result I am fluent! The first language of Ireland is English but there are areas that still have Irish as their first language :D So there you go!
I've tried using wifi finder apps before, but haven't found one that's been too accurate or finds wifi that's actually a useable speed.
The other travel app I use is TripIt (I just use the free version). Great to keeping my tickets, confirmation numbers, and other info organized.
I have all these, I feel like I got an A on a travel pop quiz of sorts lol.
Hi Sonia, I liked your video and you make the cameras look really good. From Bahamas.
Very informative, thank you!
I just found your videos and I love them! I'm curious as to what country you're from originally! I'd guess either Spain or Italy lol. Keep up the great videos Sonia!
Good job .you are great. Great video quality too.
app i love is Triposo! it has everything!
Embark NYC (my personal favorite) or HopStop are great apps for the subway in NYC; they both will give you exact directions and several options to choose from. Also I believe the HopStop app has other cities as well.
Point has all of those. It is awesome
love watching your videos.
Urbanspoon is a great restaurant finder! Goes way beyond the typical family restaurants and you can search by the type of food you're in the mood for!
i really like your videos, they are very informative, Thank you.
Maps Me is 2 in 1 apps. You download the map you want and you can search for places with wifi and a lot more things :D I don't know if it existed in 2012, though.
T-Mobile has a plan that includes unlimited data in Europe. That means the phone becomes a GPS and you don't have to worry about finding a hot spot. Unfortunately, T-Mobile has abysmal coverage in the US, but in Europe it is excellent.
New subscriber from Switzerland. Love your videos.
My girlfriend and I travel a lot (4-5 times a year mostly through Europe) and we couldn't live without TripAdvisor. It's really good for finding restaurants and hotels/Inns (it's was really useful during our road trip in Scotland).
I'll check the apps you suggested and give you feedback eventually :)
Seeya ;)
:) good video :) Have you been to Canada? My exams just ended so I went for less than a week to Vancouver and it's wonderful! I'm planning to go back because it was so short!
I love your vlogs! you are such a sweet heart:)
Saludos desde México..!!
Reality is we’re a mobile generation, and no one can live without a smartphone nowadays. Much more when you’re traveling to a new place, right? Props to this video!
there is a app called trip advisor that has food places ,tourism, and maps , plane companie and hotels find it very handy!
Great video!
Hey Sonia. Just wanted to see if you've ever tried "SayHi"? It's a voice-recognition app sold in the Apple App store that's pretty amazing and helped me in so many situations where I couldn't come up with the right word/phrase to use.
Hello Sonia! I just love your little vlogs! They are sooooooo helpful!
I know that you've been to Germany but I was wondering if you have ever been to more eastern Europe countries, like Poland or Czech Republic and do you plan on going there, because I would love to see some videos from those countries! :)
best: tripadvisor. It has ranking of places for visiting, restaurants, hotels, maps.. and you can dowload it offline!
Typing "OK Maps" in the search box when looking at a map will also let you save that map for offline use.
Try Urbanspoon! Like Yelp, but many more choices.
I love your videos
Very useful indeed!
Urban spoon is so great for finding restaurants
When is the best time to travel to France, Paris and Barcelona Sapin?
Use trip advisor tells you everything so awsome like if you download
Ulmon city maps costs close to nothing, has a search engine, shows ratings and pictures of restaurants, hotels and attractions. It has hundreds of cities worldwide downloadable so that everything works offline. Check it out!
Please could you suggest a few dictionaries you've used? Say for French & Deutsch? :)
best app for finding a place to eat is tripadvisor, users form all over the world use it and let you know how good a place is. it never lets me down ;)
Maybe urban spon, it is goog one for food
Cool
Can you do a Video on buying souvenry stuff for people back home?
Hello. Could you please tell me the aps you are using now? Thanks so much.
The links to the apps are in the description
You're so pretty! And I love your videos
a video on how to find the best plane ticket prices would be cool:)
Me gustaria información de los paquetes de Disney en español gracias !!!!!
Google Maps. Zoom in on your area. Type in Restaurants or whatever.
Hi Sonia, I was wondering if you know any good map apps that are sold in the amazon appstore because I got a free $10 credit fir apps&games
World Lens is the app that translated the signs.
I ask the cocierge in my hotel when I arrive. That way I can find some great places to eat!
I just subscribed to your channel =) does the app for maps "maplet" also contain maps for china, hongkong and taiwan? could you check this please ?
One issue with your suggested WiFi finder app; the iOS version is OK, but the Android version does not work with Android 4.0+ (Ice Cream Sandwich); Android 4.0 devices have been out for 7+ months, so frustrating that the support from the vendor is so slow to respond.
How many languages do you speak, so far i can speak 3 perfectly; English, Irish and Spanish and I have some German, but I want to learn Italian and French too :D
Is that the same as Gaelic?
I don’t see the links for the apps
love the eyebrows
To you yes, but we call it Irish, in Irish it is Gaeilge, gway-lig-a, so that's where you get the word Gaelic
I wouldn't buy map apps right now because the next android and iOS things will have turn by turn navigation built-in, also AroundMe might be useful for finding restaurants, gas stations etc. but it might only work well in more popular areas... not sure
u can find restaurants on google maps or google earth but the problem is that they need wifi
How did you get the signs translated. I travel every year to places that have Cyrillic alphabets and I also go the Georgia (the country) and Armenia often. So when i see signs like this გზა ერთი გზა I have no idea. Any tips?
You can either install an additional keyboard that allows you to type those characters, or you can use an app like Google Translate for iPhone that allows you to draw the characters.
Great, thanks for the tip. :)
restraurant, yelp and forsquare!
what should i use for currency converter
you can just google that i think, since the value of the coin keeps changing
why does she not do videos any more
Restaurant finder app: Sonia, try OpenRice
oh, i was just about to say that i thought ireland's native language was gaelic but i just looked it up on wikipedia and found it's the same thing as irish. oh well.
BTW, are you going to be at VidCon this week? If so, I'd love to interview you for the youtube dot com slash reelseo channel. Let me know. :) Or I'll just tweet ya if that's easier... there, done. haha
Very useful information the only funny/ironic thing is when you need an app on your phone there is a big chance that your battery is dieing :S
O Murphy...
can we have a video on languages???
Starbucks always, always have wifi. And theres one or more in every major cities....
Around me is a good app
you forgot the most important app, which is Tripit - Guys I travel and would not be able to have so many legs in a single trip without having all my hotels / flights / car reservations in my trip it.
Best app for traveler
I LOVE YOU. that's it.
WHAT A MIND!!!!!!!!!!!
better translation; damage, harm, destroy instead of abuse the road sign in spanish hehe
