It's so refreshing to see videos like this. No camera tricks or highly processed audio, just two dynamic musicians making the room move. The dual ride/snare setup has so many textures!
i hope one day i can work my way to this level of control. I feel like you just have YOUR sound, and it's amazing. Truly inspiring for every musician out there.
So much enjoyment from watching this. Great example of musicians reacting as a result of listening to each other which is partially what makes this so enjoyable to watch.
God, I love the way both of you guys play! Carter, you're a tasteful beast. I love it! Not to mention how much fun Charlie is always having when he plays. What a great time!
It's so cool to see two of my favorite musicians together. Charlie inspired me to pursue playing the 8-string in a similar way (I often feel like I bit off more than I can chew) and Carter makes me want to play with restraint on the drums and serve the song, not my ego.
And after listening to this the lead vocalust sang one line ...move it on over the Big dogs cominhg in. Ok Hank Williams Charlie Hunter style. Love it too.
Like all 4 of you guys that funky rockin drummer Carter and Charlie the rhythm guitarist. And where ever that funky bass player is. And also that jabbing rockin bluesy swinging lead guitar man..
The jam at 23:00 is pure awesomeness! (The one before it, was too,🤷🏻♂️) just commenting as I watch. You absolutely NAILED that Bonham snare sound with this...? I’m assuming 402, but could be an 8 lug 6 1/2 acrolite with imperials. I can’t quite make it out. Please advise. Lol. You’re an incredible drummer, man...
Carter, I would love if you could do a video about how to tune the 14x10 snare. I bought one a while back and I'm struggling to get it sounding the way I want.
funny that at 40:00 the jingle dont stay on the desired postition, and then carter had to improvise, and then he uses the jingles on floor in a very loose way. Very nice detail, the show must goes on.
This is such a great recording of you two. Thanks for sharing it. Any chance you can enlighten me on which snares you are using here Carter? Specifically the RH one.
47:52 man how can that gal in the front be looking down at her phone during such a powerful moment? Some people just don't get it and never will. Will never reach the great heights of musical spirituality that some people can, either listener or player. And that is why the Billie Eilishes of the world will just keep multiplying. Many many people don't have the capacity to experience anything deeper, and they will truly be missing out.
Carter has developed a great feel on the drums. He shares some of his secrets in a free lesson here, ua-cam.com/video/7k_8XTVMWvE/v-deo.html One of my all-time fav lessons!
That sound ! Assuming this is your signature snare drum, do you think there is any way to still get one from somewhere ? And by the way, could you tell what cymbal setup and bass drum you're playing in this video ? Cheers.
Man if you guys were on a tiny desk concert...
someone make this happen..
Why?? You are enjoying them in basically the same format right here.
In a tiny desk concert, there wouldn't half as many people, who could enjoy the music. This is a kinda medium desk concert, which is much better.

Yeah you so right with that comment man!!! Where you from?
i hope one day i can work my way to this level of control. I feel like you just have YOUR sound, and it's amazing. Truly inspiring for every musician out there.
SO MUCH sound from two people. It's perfection...
Yessss!!!! Thanks so much for recording and posting @Carter McLean!!
Dude you are the king of playing EXACTLY what the music calls for. I love it!
So much enjoyment from watching this. Great example of musicians reacting as a result of listening to each other which is partially what makes this so enjoyable to watch.
Carter - I’ve been comin back to this video for years, so raw and incredibly entertaining - thanks to you and Charlie for doing what you do 🤘🤘
The vibe reminds me of Scofield with Bill Stewart. You're so inventive behind the kit. I love this! Will be back to watch again.

Carter - amazing stuff. So musical! Can you tell me what kind of camera you used to record this? Love your posts!
Brian Czach zoom Q8
The two in front are more interested in what’s on their phones.
I’m quite sure I’ll never avhieve this level of mastery... 😑
dont worry im pretty sure Carter isn't human

Don't beat yourself up, these two are on a level few achieve. Both of them are just terrific.

Cheers.
Memphis drum shop was at least recently (this last week) taking orders. You might try calling them.
Usual stuff, then. Thanks : wasn't sure.
