Charlie is the king. Used to pay $3 to see him play in San Francisco in the early 90s. Saw him in Indianapolis in 2019 and showed him photos I took of him from that time. He gave me free CDs. He's a class act.
The more I see Charlie Hunter play, the more inspired I become.
just with the first notes
he inspires me to practice
He inspired me to stop trying
Of all the Charlie Hunters out there, he is the most of them
how the heck have I only just found out about this guy til today? He's one of the most incredible musicians ive ever heard
The industry is weird towards jazz musicians. He was on D'Angelo's Spanish Joint. IIRC nobody's ever paid him for that one, either.
Same... And I was a HUGE jazz nerd in high school around 2004-2008. Not sure how I missed this guy. I guess UA-cam and whatnot wasn't a thing back then. What a genius, though.
I feel like I just watched one of the best concerts I've ever seen...
That's dedication to your craft... wow... genius-level ! Love this harmonica player, too
This is where Charlie Hunter stretches out that amazing jazz guitar bass that no one can touch. He found every perfect groove with these fellow jazz masters...
there's a few of us chasing it.
Ive never heard ANYONE capable of solo guitaring their way through Stevie Wonder's Too High! Incredible!
It's pretty amazing how he plays bass and melody at the same time, but when he started sounding like a fucking hammond organ with that leslie effect it blew my mind
The more time you played it just got better and better and better.................
wow amazing melodic flow by that harmonica player...Gregoire Maret. gonna look up more. thx for crediting all musicians
the three truly greats of my lifetime Jimi , Jaco, & Charlie
Truth
Bravo Charlie. On aime ta musique ....
Gregorie is pure genius!
Fuck! Is all I can say! Unreal!
so good
I've watched every Charlie Hunter video on UA-cam. Obsessively. But I think this may be my favorite. The brass is such a good compliment, but Gregoire Maret pushes it over the top.
Thanks to the wonderful lineup of musicians and to Spanish Castle Music for posting!
Isn't this the one o the best performances ever?? I bought this DVD in 2003 and then it was never on UA-cam... I don't know why. I had to post it for anyone that had never seen it. Cheers!!
@@spanishcastlemusicmagic Yes. It's just awesome. The closing number literally brought me to tears.
Thanks again for posting!
@@spanishcastlemusicmagic Same here. I was surprised that I couldn't find it on UA-cam, I mean for years... Fast forward --> I just popped in my DVD today and out of curiosity decided to take a look to see if it was posted and found this. A hearty thanks!!! Now I can send my musician friends a link.
@@nyabinghidjehutti8855 Glad to hear this!! Right??
As always, Charlie Hunter sounds absolutely fucking amazing!
Alright I gotta go practice now.
I am absolutely loving this
I mean WOW!!
Love!
Changui ...musica afrocubana fusion jszz
He's a blast see live ...whether he's solo, with a singer, with a band. And he plays PIECES; never noodles aimlessly like Frisell.
Reminds me of early Leo Kottke.
trombone man is very ill 😢
Edit out every single one of those stupid song introduction animations with that abominable, goddamned rewind, spaceship sound effect and this would perfect. Did anyone in production actually listen to this through a good system at a medium to high volume? All of those idiotic and jarring interruptions are horrible.
Lol, I know. Too much work to edit them out, too late now. Hit the right arrow on your keyboard to fast forward 5 seconds, my man.
It's on Apple Music and that pays better than UA-cam.
Great individual finger dexterity..left hand..neato
So..a 5 string geetar on top...and 3 bass strings..made of?...neato
A bass line on the bottom combined with a geetar tune...neato
This instrument is tuned E A D A D G B E. Shortly after this record he lost the high E and tuned up half a step, and then later G C F C F Bb D and now he's lost the high D
