      thats because these days every youtuber is a 'content creator' who wants money from yt instead of starting their own business or getting a job. So you instead see a bunch of assholes e-begging before each video. This guy has money, a house, a car, and a job. He doesn't need to ask for money except maybe for donations to buy shit to review/destroy to see what's best. Even then, he leaves it in the description if people want to contribute and doesnt mention it. The links there if you want to give him money. People should learn from that

It's a newer channel that's a one trick pony just testing impact wrenches for now, but they do an incredible job and get right to the point in their videos. Their live graph of the torque for comparison is an incredible feature. The static graphs already featured on this channel are nice, but it would be nice if a similar feature could be incorporated in some of the tests. I use a lazy method since it has to be easy or I won't do it at all lol... (but doing nothing obviously sucks more since you have a rats nest next time you need them). I have tried many ways and this is what actually works for slob like me. My method: 1. straps separate from ratchets. 2. Take strap and fold once in the middle. 3. Fold once more in the middle of that, but around something like a bungee against a wall.. or in my case a roll bar. 4. Lay the ends of the strap where you can get your hand on the hook end easily (it will pull out without issues when needed from just the hook, which I can find without looking). 5. ratchets all hung from an eye -bolt. Both the ratchets and strap hook ends within reach of the back window of my rig. When needed I reach in and grab one ratchet and one hook and what I need is instantly out of the rig and untangled, (I carry 4-6 usually). This works even if everything elseback there has become chaos. Not as good at space management as the method Project Farm used.. but if I can get myself to organize *at all* it is a miracle.. and I can handle this much prep 90% of the time. (Also the 3 parts of the strap I don't need access to I can lay in another direction into a harder to get to area and free up space that way if I am feeling frisky).

    I was in the Navy for 9 years and I was a deck ape for 3. We generally use nylon double braid for our mooring lines because its very strong and also has some stretch. If you are doing something like mooring a ship and you know theres gonna be pushing and pulling (water current) you want a little bit of stretch so the lines dont part right away. HOWEVER, the danger of stretchy lines is when they do break they snap back quite fast and can cut a grown man in half.
    We also tried using polypropylene lines but they didnt work out so well. They part quickly when you try to stretch them which means no snap back and no one gets hurt. But you do need to allow a bit of stretch or else they will be breaking all the time. Rubber bands versus chains would be the extreme ends of the spectrum in this comparison. Either absolutely no give and they snap instantly, or ridiculous give and they cant really hold anything together.
    With regards to ratchet straps you'll have to make a choice. How much give do you want to allow before breaking? and will it be a safety issue.
    Thats why when you are trying to pull a car out of a swamp or pit you need to keep everyone the hell away. Most of those towing lines are nylon. They can hurt bystanders if they break, and the average person doesn't know about this principle.

    I have several of these brands, and the takeaway I had was the shock I felt seeing how much tension was lost over time! I trailer a bunch of things - you can bet that I'll be securing, having a coffee, tensioning a 2nd time, and re-tensioning about 1-2 hours into my haul!

    Props to the storage method! I've got a number of different brands in my possession due to my purchases being made out of necessity vs "oh let me go buy some nice straps for next time."
    I've mainly got a mix of haul master and husky, however I'm slowly but surely getting rid of the haul master due to how easily the ratchets themselves get damaged, have you accidentally stepped on one? They crush easier than a coke can.

    1:03 - I have the exact same type of auto-retractable ratchet and have to say that the internal spring has lost some tension over time. It now wouldn't fully rewind the webbing and I have to manually turn the ratchet wheel to retract the remaining webbing length which is about 6". Outside of that they're pretty handy when it comes to quickly securing objects the seatbelt way in confined space.

    I'd love to see what kind of testing methodology you come up with!

    • @handyandqu
      @handyandqu 3 роки тому +1

      Issue is that there is a scientific testing and standards (ANSI S3.19-1974, ANSI S12.6-2016, ANSI S12.42-2010) for ear plugs, so many differences would essentially be very subjective, because the standard tests are going to prove the manufacturers claims as true. A lot of what he is testing is manufacturer claims where there is no a standards, or minimum requirements.

    I believe you forgot to measure how much tension can be generated with the ratchet mechanism ? When strapping a load this is rather important.

    • @TheGreg6466
      @TheGreg6466 3 роки тому +1

      I thought that at first then I realised he tests the working load at 12:32 and he generates the load using the ratchet, so as long as they can generate enough force to achieve the working load that's all that matters, if you just want to know which ratchet is easier to get to the working load then it's just longer the ratchet lever handle the greater the force you'll generate. This guy is pretty thorough I'm sure he'll have thought about that. I suppose it would've been nice if he explained why he didn't measure the tension each ratchet can produce.
