They absolutely COOKED, the vision for this was insane!!!
Never thought I’d get to see a Re-Reaction from you and in Jujutsu Kaisen’s BLU RAY Episode 17? This is a fkn great day for us.
where did you watch this?
This fight was crazy
I'm glad we were even able to see what the animators visions were
If this was insane, imagine Season 3
Sukuna doing the Jojo pose and Mahoraga practicing Shadow Boxing are the greatest thing in existence
@@AstaXNoellefull budget isn’t the problem, being forced to release unfinished content is the problem. Oh and the reason Makora is shadow boxing is because sukuna is pump faking him and tricking him
Mahoraga shadow boxing was him blocking the slashes sakuna was pretending to throw. That’s why u see sakuna doing faints and mahoraga blocking it then sakuna gets closer and behind him to slash
@antoniolopez1135 no its deflecting and blocking then dismantles sukuna is throwing. You have to remember the blades he throws are invisible
@@davidforde2507 why would they make those invisible and the the other ones later on visible? It makes no sense to do that unless he’s just playing him
@@antoniolopez1135 It's because big raga was finally adapting to Suckuna curse technique. The reason why they make it like that was to showcase Mahoraga Adaptation.

MAPPA: "And how did he die?"

And also treating the animators equally... Mappa...
What Mappa will take from this: Wait we can pump out shows and episodes unfinished and then make even more money with the promise of finished work on the Blu Ray? Genius!

yh as my first impression to them is this Vid, I was so lost, and tried 2 hard to find context 4 this
@@tjastec5124 basically each series they do has like a custom intro, lupa (guy on the right) always does that in every jujutsu kaisen video and it's funny to watch roshi's suffering
It's interesting cuz all the scenes with mahoraga shadowboxing was him actually PUNCHING cleaves and dismantles out of the air. It's why sukuna was confused when he said "cursed energy?" Mahoraga changed his cursed energy to counter sukuna's cleaves/dismantles.
Nah, Sukuna was just faking his ass out trying to see what he could and couldn't see of his techniques. He changed to cursed energy just because positive energy specializes in exorcising cursed spirits - which is why his blade (the sword of extermination - had to edit the name because the translations got it wrong according to the wiki) is coated in positive energy. Since Sukuna isn't a cursed spirit as Mahoraga initially assumed, he switched to cursed energy.
No, his shadow boxing is him trying to predict Sukunas slashes, that Sukuna actually faked him out with. He could hit them but wasn’t sure when they come out, it’s why you see Sukuna doing fake swings and finger pistols pretending he’s gonna do them, to bait out Mahoraga. He later adapts when you see the wheel spin, and can actually tell when Sukuna is gonna fire them, which is why Sukuna stops
you are partially correct, mahoraga starts using cursed energy once he realises that positive energy (which mahoraga used from the start) wasn’t working, since sukuna isnt a cursed spirit. Mahoraga adapts to this so he can start doing damage.

9:34 NAH CAUSE FOR REAL. Now that we know what the fuck that hand gesture mean (the literal cause of Shibuya Incident), suddenly it's so hilarious remembering how he'd pull it off at any little inconvenience.
Imagine if this had been in the actual run during the season, I don't think anyone would've been disputing how good this arc was and just how crazy the animators at MAPPA are
The fact that people disputed how good the arc was off the original is still pretty wild though..was still A or S tier animation..now it’s just better, lol, never understood people complaining about
Tbf, the reason others didn’t like the animation this season is because they actually don’t like fluid animation. Same way naruto vs pain was trashed because it has fluid animation
@@Faetalis09Fair point really. Maybe they think that the "fluid" movements aren't what they would do in a battle versus what everyone else is doing when it comes to fights/choreography/whatever else with the rest of the offerings on the table then and/or now. That the movements have to be this way Or that way to be conveyed properly or something. It could also be an artistic choice to do the animation that they did to help convey it better from their perspective. Or maybe I'm reaching who the heck knows, but that's how I look at it.
Personally I'll get it after a few watches here and there but i can also look at it from a first impression point of view. Or i guess first watch on release day/new to the show years after the fact and are now just getting into it. They have pre established notions of what animation is supposed to look like in any/every given situation whether just talking or fighting, depending on the story/genre they're consuming. Or I'm reaching again.... either way I still love it. Mainly because i can reconcile differing styles when in fact it's all the same, just different if you look very hard enough to the point of blinding yourself. That I can just watch it again and again and again. But that's just me with 30+ years' worth of experience reading/watching manga/anime. I could be wrong on all fronts though who knows too.
Just my two cents. Feel free to debunk me or anything. Much love and respect.
@@Faetalis09 I eat up buttery smooth animation, that dance in Frieran was absolutely gorgeous and was all HAND DRAWN
@@gloomygloomstalker3878 same bro, i love this style of animation. for me jjk season 2 has got to be top 5 best animation ever for a shonen anime season. this is up there with opm season 1 and mob psycho season 2 forsure.
Best part about Sukuna is his need to absolutely clown on everyone just because he's bored. All the fakeouts in the added scene are so illustrative of his character. He isn't like Gojo showing off for students, he does it because he loves it.
I mean... the fakeouts are *also* to test Mahoraga, and Gojou does love flexing and etc aswell.
gojo absolutely flexes whether or not anyone else is watching have you forgot the intimate date with jogo already😂
That midair staredown was a different kind of diabolical
6:21The shadowboxing from Mahoraga was him deflecting tf out of dismantles and cleaves I think. It's crazy because Sukuna was doing feints and Maho was flinching until he got used to it lmao
Literally just finished this and y'all uploaded wow.
They weren't joking about the 30% thing, this shit went so hard it's insane 🔥

Brah what 🤨
“That’s new. Hollup….WTF”😂😂😂
If yall dont know, the reason why sukuna looked like he was doing martial arts/posing, and mahoraga was shadow boxing is because they were literally like in a fighting game. Sukuna was throwing feints to confuse mahoraga who kept spamming the parry button. Then mahoraga adapted to feinting and stopped spamming the parry button, which sukuna then changed his plans, etc. Literally watched 2 pro EVO players go at it LOL
The part where the animation looks so clean like the water scene and I think the constant slash in Sukuna's domain expansion is animated by Vincent Chansard (the one who does the peak fight scenes in One Piece). But sadly, Vincent don't wanna work with Mappa anymore.
Vincent is the goat! I felt so bad when I saw some of his rough animation of the Sukuna vs Maho fight that didn't get put into the episode but thankfully the Blu-ray added them in.
@@keithdavy7346 that is why he don't want to work there anymore the working environment is not good according to him. He said that he was given work there but only on short notice unlike in Toei when he needs to be a part of the episode he was given a lot of time to prepare and has more freedom to interpret the scenes he's been given to animate with.
@@Uru865 one thing I like about Toei is that they give the animators and animation directors alot of freedom in interpreting the scenes and you could clearly see which animators worked on what scenes just from their own personal style.
@@Uru865 he also did say that he did like how much creative freedom he was given to animate in jjk. so i do think its a "never say never" deal with vincent, if mappa offered him a better schedule next time i think he would work on it again.
@@bread6235 he actually said he never want to work with Mappa anymore. I never said that he was not given creative freedom in Mappa but if u closely watch how he animates things in OP. U can easily tell in OP that he made the scenes than this one because animation wise nothing is holding him back from adding something that wasn't even in the source material sometimes. Tbh, I did not even know he was in here when I first watched this fight.
2 things to point out:
Sukuna's cursed technique is invisible to us so when we see Mahoraga punching the air he's actually punching all the invisible slashes
Also Sukuna was not constantly slashing at Mahoraga, when Mahoraga isn't cut when Sukuna made the slashing gesture is because Sukuna is faking him out, which is hilarious
Sukuna was faking it, when Mahoraga adapted again we can see that he was able to notice when its a fake or a real, then Mahoraga was able to punch him
9:39 in Megumi's defense, Mahoraga would have just stomped Haruta and despawned, this is all because Sukuna pulled up
Roshi: "how do you storyboard this?"
Only hakuyu go knows about that one. Don't think anyone knows what kind of drugs this man is on evrytime he storyboards shit like this.
He wasn't the only one 🗿
@M-T_S he said it during go's part so I only mentioned him. I know miso, harumi and weilin were also involved with the storyboards.
Yeah this shi was hella different and better than the manga. Extended it with Godlike action holy crap

@@Reed..He wasn't gonna summon Maho on Todo guy's
Im glad yall checked this out. One of the best things I’ve seen so far this year
This still isn't the full vision of what this episode was supposed to be. Understand that under ideal conditions this episode would have had at least 8 months of production. At best this episode had around five. Fuck mappa.
Chainsaw Man Season 1 was created with the alloted time Mappa gave the animators to make JJK S2. They did so because they got a bigger cut of profits from CSM than JJK. So fuck the higher ups at Mappa, made animators lives hell for so long and to the detriment of an entire season of a show.
At least the cut is 1000x times better than the 30% unfinished work we all saw.
No this is the full vision. Just that the episode still has minor errors or background problems. 2 more months and this would have been the greatest episode to ever exist ( we ll it already is to me)
I'll be for real with you, as soon as a piece of art has a deadline, it will never look as good as it could have. That's just the nature of it, the first version was very clearly unfinished and salvaged, but this version is closer to that. You have to make a compromise
Fuck MAPPA obviously though underpaying overworking ass
@@PrimeTimeFan-sv5hd There are still parts that are visibly unfinished and would've looked more polished and consistent had they been given more time.
I’m soooo frickn happy y’all reacted to this
So dope y’all got on this so quick
They weren’t lying when they said they were only like 30% done with this fight 😭
Edit: Ok, yall, when I say 30% done I meant the amount that they actually had in the real fight. They literally cut most of the fight out
Every dumb english speakers got baited hard by the ''30% thing'' it NEVER meant that it was 30% ''done'' , that 1 animator dude said he only had time to put 30% OF HIS VISION, the episode that we got was always what it was and never ''30% done and unfinished''
Ikr? 30% for the fight in the tv version is crazy enough but 100% at peak?, my god, JJK is an art form when it comes to choreography, cinematography and action sequences as if you're watching a movie.
They actually said only 30% of their vision was done in this fight. Meaning the fight is complete but they only managed to get 30% of what they had initially envisioned
@@ripunjay40 exactly everyone is misunderstanding what it meant and spreading misinfo
That's not the context of 30%. Make your sources right. Misinformation at its finest. LMAO.

Real talk my fave reaction youtubers. Like watchin yall on break at work
I love you guys for this 😭😭
It's dope that yall reacted to this.
Glad everyones reacting to this bc its fully deserves it, I think myself original was good as is but this made entire fight so much easier to follow and had lot of great in between scenes to flow from 1 scene into another so much smoother, The Malevolent Shrine we actually get to see a shockwave of diced n sliced buildings n scenery rather than just a big implosion…
Crazy to see just what Animators are capable of with even just a little more time, Maybe this will get Execs to chill n let animators give it their best without pushing them to limit just to meet deadlines…
I'm glad y'all reacted to this
the blu ray version makes so much more sense, I remember watching the episode and being so overwhelmed/confused because scenes starting coming out of nowhere, but this extended version connects everything and blows my mind even further. I can see why the person mentioned the released episode only being 30% of what they had intended, they really had to cut down a lot... props to the insane talent
i've been watching anime since the early 90's. this was hands down one of the best seasons of a show i've ever seen. whatever the team at mappa is going through, i hope they know they pulled off something amazing

I need to see the damn story board for that whole scene goddamn
The full vision for this episode is a chef's kiss🤌
The coolest thing is, that in that scene where mahoraga was swinging straight blanks at sukuna he was actually deflecting his slashes, since they’re invisible and sukuna says right before that moment that he could “see” his cursed technique
I didn't know this was a thing and now I NEED it

I was hoping you guys would react to this. We got shafted on original release, so happy we finally get to see this
What I love about this fight how the longer it goes on the more you can see Mahagora adapting to actually physically see the cuts and start to counter them at first his body just rips apart but then we get to see the slashes more and more
You know whats worse? Sukuna didnt eat the popcorn or drinked the soda to show off, he did it so Yuji had something to throw up when the fight was over
Bro, This is amazing.
The blu ray version was absolutely insane!!!! I have no words
I didn’t know this was a thing! Thank you guys for the alert! (But also on an unrelated note, please react to shogun)
When he said it was 30 percent done it was taken out of context. He said that this was 30 percent of his vision meaning he wanted even crazier stuff than this.
as a manga reader, watching this episode and knowing where we’re currently at with the manga makes me so anxious bc idk how they’re gonna up the animation after THAT
See what happens when you let artist actually make art and not slave labor. So much respect to Mappa animators and animators in general.

SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS REACTION, and we got more peak coming with Solo Leveling Ep 11!!!
That fade-in slash by Sukuna is too cold, bro was playin with Maho 🥶
Actually he was not playing with Mahoraga.Sukuna knows that Mahoraga is a serious thing(who actually helped him in defeating gojo).Sukuna literally remained careful in this fight. He knew he would win but that doesn't mean he will give Mahoraga a chance to hit him.But at the end he realise that only domain expansion can stop Mahoraga.Even Mahoraga was about to adapt Sukuna's domain so Sukuna used fire arrow to completely burn him down.
oh man i cant wait for season 3, you guys will find so many likable characters. GUARANTEED
It’s not that it was only 30% finished, it was 30% of their entire vision
AHH YES BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
They added a lot of new stuff for the finished version
Can’t wait for season 3.
It’s going to be crazy 😅 hopefully they give the necessary time to the animators for the next season 👏
my boy sukuna done got mahoraga doing shadow boxing and shi😭😭😭😭
Mahoraga is such a trump card. If you don't immediately obliterate it with a strong attack, by the time you figure out it's adapting to your moves, it's probably too late. Luckily, Sukuna had a little something in his back pocket
when Mahoraga was punching the air he was actually punching Sukuna attack
They really said it, what we saw was not even close to perfection, not one bit, but this, THIS IS GODLY!!!
I'm glad they got rid of that annoying ghosting effect , that crap is my worst enemy in anime fights !
Mappa better be treating these animators better cuz they're cooking. But i guess its too late. Vincent already dipped out and said he'll never come back. Only one piece appreciates that man's work. Props to the mob psycho team as well cuz their rough paint/pencil like art really goes hard and fits a menace like sukuna
Ps: someone send me the link to the full bluray version bruh😭
I would too, anyone would
I mean Vincent had no intentions of working with them even before jjk s2, he only did some cuts on this episode bc of Hakuyu Go

@@sbcs2809Detail work on certain scenes? Like how Mahoraga is drawn really basically during the Domain Expansion
@@matthewmarkham5096 It's a style choice. Lack of detail doesn't = worse or unfinished. Theres a reason barely any drawings were touched up here. The biggest reason it was "unfinished" was because there were entire scenes cut to save time. The actual polish of the episode is pretty much in accordance with the style they are going for.
