I'm glad to find this video about Sandy Duncan. She's like a breath of fresh air, taking her craft seriously, & not at all like the divas in her business. I have always admired her bravery in the face of illness. May God bless her!
I met Sandy Duncan back in the early'80's. Although rushed for time she stopped to acknowledge me and answer my question as she entered a cab. She was absolutely sweet and pleasant and genuine. P.S. She has the tiniest, softest voice ! Almost birdlike. What a charming woman she is !
Sandy Duncan ,an amazing artist. She is a multitalented artist, who is one in a million. I watched her through the years as she adapted to all her challenges in the acting realm. Exceptionally gifted and one in a million in terms of success.
Sandy will always have a special place in my thoughts. She is a delightful person and actor. Her spirit was contagious and something few actors have today. Will remember her performances fondly.
I love Sandy Duncan love her TV series her entertainment or personality her laughter she was just someone you trusted and would watch again and again thank you for sharing her legacy.
She was my first crush and even now after decades I always smile when her name pops up. I will always have a spot in my heart of love and admiration for this talented and versatile performer. She will always be beautiful in mine eyes.
There are so many wonderful people who were just a joy to see perform. And the truth is, time simply swallows them up, as it does all of us, eventually, and when people get to see what they did and how wonderful they were, that is the legacy...just a flash of a moment in time when someone did something wonderful. And for every one who has entertained the world, that is more than enough. And the truth is, most will be forgotten but that doesn't take away from what they did, remembered or not. Sandy was a joy. Thanks kiddo!
Always had a thing for Sandy. She always had that wholesome quality to her and just really admired her talent. She is like the Americanized version of Julie Andrews in a way. Glad she is still doing well and hope she can do more in the future.
Thanks for the nice piece about Ms. Duncan. I believe, however, that you should have mentioned a signature turning-point in her career: her initial ad for United California Bank where she portrayed a teller struggling to spell the LONG Greek name of a new bank customer. IIRC, that ad -- all by itself -- sent her stock sky-high. You mention her ads for Wheat Thins, which came years later. The Wheat Thin ads featured Ms. Duncan as herself, much as Polaroid's ads featured movie star James Garner as himself. But in the UCB ads, she was just a largely-unknown actress playing a role. She did it incredibly well, and was insanely cute -- viewers actually WANTED to watch the ad because of her. That really changed the trajectory of her career.
I remember her in those Wheat Thins commercials when I was a kid. She was a beautiful, high energy performer who brought so much joy to our memories 💖 ❤ ♥ ✨ 💕 💓
My mom was a teller for the UCB bank in Hollywood, and waited on Sandy who did commercials for the bank at the time (70’s) my mom said she was very friendly.
Seems we have very few good spirited people in Hollywood today. They could learn a lot from from Ms. Duncan's example . Exceptionally talented & Very Sweet .
I miss seeing Sandy on TV. She is sweet and kind. I hope she lands something soon. With all of these different platforms on cable now I'm sure there is something for her. And no she did not receive an enough credit for all the work she did and the challenge she over came.
When I lived in NYC I frequently attended Broadway shows. They were expensive so I selected shows carefully. I was mesmerized by Ms. Dunkin so much that I saw that play 3 times. She was amazing. She projected life, happiness, and excitement to the entire theater.
We were fortunate to see Ms Duncan in Peter Pan in Boston. She was spectacular. Not being a theater goer, I’ve only been to one other, so have missed the joy of her talent. Also born in 1946 I’m happy there still chance to see her.
You too, huh? I remember having a crush on her, back when I was a middle school kid in the 70s. And all these years later, I still do. She is truly amazing!
I've always loved anything I came across with Sandy in it and was disappointed to not see more of her. Didn't know about the eye business, wasn't surprised it didn't stop her. Good lady, am grateful for her contribution to the entertainment industry.
I LOVE HER. She's one of the joys of my youth. She was always on talk shows. Remember Foster Brooks, on the Dean Martin Roast, drunkenly referring to Sammy Davis, Jr. as SANDY DUCAN, Jr. ? I still laugh at that one.
Lots of actresses have played Tinker Bell (yeah, I didn’t know Tinker Bell was two words, either) but Sandy Duncan was ideal in the roll. It just fit her sunny personality. She was great in every part she played, though. I had heard about the eye cancer, but I didn’t realize she didn’t have a prosthetic eye. That’s a gutsy move to keep her eye, when it has a tumor. It really speaks to the skill of the surgeon, also. But shame on the surgeon for not wanting to let Sandy, be Sandy. I think the world is a better place when people are free to live up to their talents. My wife and I were both engineers, but my wife was more expressive. She sang in a show chorus, and I always encouraged whatever she wanted to do. Unfortunately, I lost my soulmate four years ago, but while she lived, she lived! I’m glad to hear Sandy Duncan is alive and still cheerful!
If I were have fame and fortune it would that of Sandy Duncan. She is known for bringing joy to the childhoods of countless children. Always great to see her act and she covered a wide range of acting endeavors.
Thanks for update! I saw Sandy in person in the 1980s at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope , PA! Not in a show, but sitting in the audience to see the hit show, "I Do, I Do"! Knew she had gone blind in her left eye and has a glass eyeball like the late actor Peter Falk also had who played Columbo! Several years ago, I went partially blind in my left eye as well and it was helpful to know that others have lost their sight in one eye and that I have company, we're never alone. Loved her as Peter Pan and her sunny warm personality, too.
I think what attracted me to her the most through the years, was that she made me feel like she was (somehow) a member of the family, or an old, reliable friend for life (you know, the kind of person that just IS in your life)
I saw her on a talk show , Johnny Carson I think. They were talking about the wires in Peter Pan. Apparently during a performance she flew through the air very close to a young girl in a balcony. Later she met that little girl backstage. The girl , quite loudly said : I know how you fly , wires. Sandy didn't know what to say , and then the little girl smiled and asked " Is Tinkerbell allright? " Sandy will always be a favorite of mine. Thanks for a great piece of work.
Sandy's dad Mancil Ray was a personal friend of mine. He was a great guy. He never talked about Sandy's fame, but told me a lot of stories about both his daughters, Sandy's and Robyn's childhood.
Grew up w/Sandy & always loved all her work. Who cares about fame when you're that talented & stay in demand throughout a long & prolific career? What an amazing talent!
Not only is Sandy Duncan a phenomenally gifted actress, she has a fabulous personality and is genuinely a delightful person. I can only wish her the very best.
I think that Sandy Duncan never got the recognition she deserved because she didn't want it because she was satisfied with doing TV shows, plays and guest appearances on talk shows.
2 things, 1st, she's a lady, and 2d, she's a professional. She might have never had a humongous hit movie or TV show, she made up for it by being a utility infielder in show business, someone you can depend on to get the job done. Right on Ms. Sandy!
She is such a bubbly & sweet person. She loved everyone. You can tell by the way she talked to you. She had an infectious personality. She treated you like you were an old friend. GBU.
I love her "downtoearth" Attitude! Like you mentioned working from a "teen to her 70s" is very impressive! A working actress. And very much loved. Like you said a "cult following". I say "die-hard" fans. I read somewhere when asked about her eye problem. She mentioned she has another one thanks to god. Now that is what being "downtoearth & a positive attitude is all about! God bless Sandy Duncan! You go girl!
I really liked her... She met singer-actor Bruce Scott (born Bruce Scott Zaharaides) during the Off-Broadway production of "Your Own Thing", and they were married in September 1968. Their divorce, finalized in October 1972, was caused by tensions resulting from Duncan's success and rise to stardom. Duncan told People magazine in 1979 that "It was very threatening to Bruce."
As a person that had 4 surgeries on my eyes (was born cross-eyed), always had a place in my heart for Sandy. She was always a kind person; never judged anyone. Like Christopher Reeves, she embraced who she was, never living in fear of what the public might think. I'm about 20 years younger, but I had a major crush on her when I was a teenager. Way to go girl! You should have gotten a LOT more credit for who you are.
Shandy Duncan has never received the acclaim she deserves but she will always be remembered for her wonderful portrayal of Peter Pan ❣️. She is one of the few blondes I was infatuated with being a teen in the 1970’s.

Loved her! She always seemed so genuine and down to earth. People could relate to her. ❤
I think much of Sandy's appeal is that she is a genuinely nice person. God bless her!!

Sandy will always have a special place in my thoughts. She is a delightful person and actor. Her spirit was contagious and something few actors have today. Will remember her performances fondly.
She is one of the most under appreciated actresses of her time! To work steady till her seventies is rare!
I love Sandy Duncan love her TV series her entertainment or personality her laughter she was just someone you trusted and would watch again and again thank you for sharing her legacy.

She was a class act all the way around.
It's not too late for a lifetime achievement award.
I’ve always loved Sandy Duncan. Seen everything she has accomplished in the industry, there’s just something about her that makes me smile.😀❤️
Sandy was always one of my favorites. I saw her in everything she did. She was so adorable.
I’d rather be a versatile actor than an icon.. Sandy Duncan was/is among my favorites..God bless✝️

I agree, she is so cute and reminds me of Julie Andrews in many ways. Both classy and talented ladies.
Brilliantly Talented and always engaging Love Ms Duncan 💕
Before Princess Di had her short hair style Sandy was doing it with big smile and a happy attitude!!!

She is an ICON
It's hard to believe this little cutie is in her 70's!!!
While Sandy Duncan never "catapulted " to stardom, she was a STAR nonetheless!! Love you Sandy!!! ❤
I had to double check she's still around even though I just read up on her -- I had to make sure. Seeing the word "was" lol
I so agree 💗
See, to me she is soooo wholesome she makes me physically ill

I always loved Sandy Duncan. Beautiful, talented, intelligent, funny…how could anyone NOT love her?
I've always loved anything I came across with Sandy in it and was disappointed to not see more of her. Didn't know about the eye business, wasn't surprised it didn't stop her. Good lady, am grateful for her contribution to the entertainment industry.

Because of Sandy Duncan, I remember one day my mother would ask me "If you are going to the supermarket, then can you please buy a box or two (02) of Wheat Thins by Nabisco?" and since then we are hooked on it.
Please enjoy this day to its max. ©®

Sandy was one of my favorite actresses 🙂⭐
Always smiling..She seems very genuine..She has a uniqueness about her that sets her apart from the rest.
I loved Sandy Duncan!!

First time I remember seeing her was when she did a commercial for a bank and some guy was blowing smoke in her face. It's on UA-cam.
I was one of her biggest fans. She should be recognized and put on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
She's one of the greatest performers ever !!!! Who wouldn't fall in love with her ?
Sandy continues to make Texans proud ! She has always been an amazing talent !
Shes only a NATIONAL TREASURE!!! 💐 Lovely Lady!✌❤

She was a great actress. She always had lots of energy and was fun to watch.
How can anyone not love Sandy Duncan? Until this video, I was unaware that she is not considered a major star of stage and (silver) screen.
She was and is such a cutie.
I remember her well from when I was younger. Probably one of the most likable TV personalities ever. Glad she is doing well.
