She's so cute and perky. The ordeal she went through was quite traumatic, and she handled it with such courage and bravery, and got right back up on her feet and picked up where she left off. She's quite inspiring!
I remember very well when this happened because it was so ironic that this extremely bubbly cute young woman whose career was on the way up suddenly underwent this life-threatening health crisis. She downplays it in this interview but it wasn’t as insignificant as she describes it.
My mom had a pretty serious eye injury at 2 years old in 1941. She got a paper airplane thrown into her eye. And she had a blown out pupil. She was blind in her right eye from 2 years old on. And in 1960 they told her she could finally get a glass eye. So she did. I never knew her without it. Although I do remember a few eye related emergencies we experienced when I was a kid and her eye falling out. Then us scrambling to find it. Once at the public pool, and a few times in the cold Minnesota winter. And I also remember a couple times her eyelid would start growing closed and she would have to get it cut open a sawed to stop them from closing off again and after every few years as she aged, her having to get her bottom lid tightened to keep the eye in. Not working eye muscle makes keeping in your glass eye pretty difficult.
YAIWDCFWAPG! (Yet Another Interview Where Dick Cavett Flirts With A Pretty Girl) And as usual, I am jealous. Ms. Duncan seemed to be everywhere in the early 1970s and as a lad I wanted to be wherever she was too. Such a sweetheart.
I was about 11 or 12 when I watched Funny Face. I remember when she had her eye tumor. I remember reading an article in TV guide about it. It said, "the cast and crew of Bonanza sent their get well wishes" (or something like that.)
Back when women wore long, shiny golden drapery fabric gowns that covered 99.9% of their bodies on talk shows with soft, comfortable leather conference room chairs.
have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were a part of the main cast?
Strangely I was just watching a horror film with a guy took one of the eyes of the victims and it made me think of Sandy Duncan 😳 I'm old enough to have watched her show Funny Face
I don't get the laughing so hard at any normal question..... Is she laughing at her own jokes, or is she laughing at her own expense..... The latter is adorable, the first mentioned is just akward......
She does another interview with him decades later and talks about how she indeed plunged into a deep depression over losing her vision and having her head stapled back together (that wonky wig), but that pretending to be upbeat about it actually worked for her in some way.
She's either really REALLY nervous or she took WAY too many drugs before walking on stage. Lol. Either way, she can't keep it together. It's kinda cute but it's also concerning.
@@Juice_Lover123 She was nervous and also getting over having been recently through a daunting surgery to remove a benign tumor from her optic nerve which left her blind in her left eye
Not many people know, but both of Sandy's eyes were gouged out, one with a hypodermic needle, the other with a paintbrush. That's how it really happened.
Out of sight out of mind. Sandy Duncan. I probably hadn't thought of her for two or three decades. What an endearingly girlish girl she was.

I had almost forgotten how adorable Sandy was. Almost.
same here, she was always popular with my father
I’m 52 and I’ve been nursing a crush on her since I was a kid.
I don't know, I was ten.
@@jamesjames9275 Same. She certainly had an effect on me.

She handled her serious medical problem with courage.
For real. This dude was grilling her .
She's amazing!
I really miss the 1970s.♥️
Absolutely gorgeous gown
I wish I had a girlfriend like her. She's worth making the effort to stop being grumpy for!
And she still looks great!
She was adorable
Still is. :)
Reminds me of young Goldie Hawn persona.

She's sweet.
Oh my god her hair is the cutest thing ever
I’m sure that’s a wig since she needed a craniotomy, but she’s still an inspiration!
What a doll she was/.is
I really miss those times the early 1970s and seeing Sandy Duncan

Maria Bamford kind of does a Sandy Duncan now that I think of it!
She looks familiar, can't really place her but she's so sweet!
if I'm not mistaken, she was in "The Hogan Family", many years after this interview - circa early '90s(?).
Scooby Doo
Herby The Love Bug.
The Ballet Bar lol

It's annoying either way

She also might have been high. It was the early '70s...so it's possible!

Only if the current presidential candidates had this sort of intelligence
They don't, and it's not only in USA, it's a worldwide problem.
People with intelligence know to stay out of politics
Shes from Texas but she has a New York city type accent?
Some people pick up accents with extreme ease.
Peepers of "Rock-A-Doodle"
Not many people know, but both of Sandy's eyes were gouged out, one with a hypodermic needle, the other with a paintbrush. That's how it really happened.
Apparently, she liked weed.
a top shelf interview this is not
And yet here you are, grumpy.
Ughh those clothes
