Please just answer one question for our community -- is the goal of Islam to eventually establish Sharia law in the United States in place of the current U.S. Constitution? It is troubling to see many Muslims online state that they would prefer to live under Sharia law and not the Constitution! This question does not appear to be addressed in local discussions.
Do you even know what sharia law is? Me praying 5 times a day is sharia law, fasting, wearing the hijab.......are sharia law. Of course I and any other muslim would prefer to live under sharia law because sharia law is made by God. Also, islam tells us to follow the laws of the land of which we live in. When I am walking outside and wearing my hijab I am following sharia law and when I am obeying the US constitution I am following the constitution. Not even one single muslim is trying to change the constitution into sharia. But I understand where you coming from........... the media
Under Sharia law what is the punishment for criticizing the Quran? How about if a non Muslim marries a Muslim under Sharia law? See Christians don’t like it they call it a sin and God will punish you. If Muslims don’t like it THEY PUNISH YOU in the name of Allah!
The question to ask though is why did they have to flee their own countries? - and is their cultural/ideological/religious belief system responsible for the answer to the above question? Once assessing that, one must wonder, in large enough numbers, barring mass assimilation, will these people reproduce such a dysfunctional society HERE??? - and by looking at the larger communities of them in the large urban context of Minneapolis/St. Paul, of course meeting the above conditions of non-assimilation, I would say yes, to the proportion of the influx of their unassimilated numbers, one will see more and more of an approximation of their homeland's dysfunction, corruption and instability. This is only logical.
I try to be as nice as possible to Somalis in town. They get enough bad attitudes towards them that I try to counter that by being as nice as possible. I'm generally rewarded with a smile and only rarely get snubbed.
