Also, I wanted to say that in addition to loving your content I appreciate that you are one of the few reactors who don’t curse on camera. You have the decency to not do that in front of your audience and I deeply respect that.
Quigley's Sharps rifle, custom built for the film by Shiloh Rifle Mfg Co, Big Timber, Montana, is patterned after Sharps' legendary 1874 "Hartford" model, which was known as "old reliable," due to its rugged construction, powerful cartridges, exceptional long-range accuracy, and variety of customizable options. I had Shiloh custom build a similar model for me several years ago, and it's worth every dollar.
I remember when this film came out and lots of naysayers were doubting whether any rifle of the 1800's was capable of the kind of accuracy and range portrayed in the film. The magazine "Guns and Ammo" responded and ran an article the following month where they showed that the 1874 Sharps rifle (in the right hands, and with correctly tuned hand-loads) absolutely WAS capable of the accuracy and range shown in the film.
Hi Madison, Happy New Year! Finally someone reacting to Quigley Down Under. The last film I bought in Laser Disc. Alan Rickman finally gets to be a cowboy, but ends up going against another ‘Roy’! Yippee-Ki-Yay! I love this film!

I met Tom Selleck in about 1982 I think when I was 12 at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. as my Dad worked in the film industry, shook his hand. Remember him being VERY tall. They were filming an episode of Magnum PI as the actor who played Higgins was there sitting in one on those tall fabric actors chairs smoking a cigarette through a tube. I was so excited, but also a bit disappointed not to meet Zeus and Apollo.
This is one of my favorite contemporary westerns like Unforgiven, Silverado and others. I would suggest these westerns as well: Support Your Local Sheriff; double bill of High Plains Drifter and Pale Rider; and Ravenous.

This is a great movie. It should be more popular than it is. Not many people have reacted to this. I have been waiting for you to do this one, as well as the Shootist, because you do westerns so well. I am really looking forward to it.

The Shootist. The only John Wayne movie I only watched once. I grew up watching the Duke, and seeing that (nearly autobiographical) movie absolutely wrecked me.
This movie launched a new interest in the Sharps Rifle. His rifle is the model 1874 chambered in 45-110 caliber. The 45 represents bullet diameter while the 110 is black powder capacity which is determined by the length of the case. The Sharps rifle became popular in the Civil War with Union sharpshooters and carbines with cavalry. They were breach loaders that fired a 52 caliber bullet. Bullets were contained in a paper wrapped cartridge that also contained powder. Dropping the lever exposed the chamber where the shooter inserted the paper cartridge. Closing the lever cut the paper as the breach was closed. The shooter then placed a percussion cap on the nipple. I'm not sure when the original Sharps company went out of business but today there are some fine copies of this historic rifle.
One of my favorite movies ever. I was 19 when this movie came out and loved it from the start. Great action, beautiful scenery, a great musical score by the late Basil Poledouris, some very emotional moments and great acting by Laura San Giacomo, Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman. This was one of the first four movies I saw Alan Rickman in. The other 3 were Die Hard, The January Man and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. He was such a great actor and his loss still hurts. Australia is one of the countries I never got to visit while in the Navy. I would have loved to have gone there.
"Don't worry, on a new job it's quite common for things not to go well at first." That line should be inducted into the Cinematic One-Liner Hall of Fame. For those who might want a little more of Australian history, there is a great miniseries (from Australia) called "Against the Wind" from 1978, and covers the lives of some folks who went there as either British soldiers or convicts from both England and Ireland beginning in 1798 and into the 1800's. It isn't well-known in the USA - I saw it when I was in the Navy stationed overseas - and might be difficult or impossible to obtain a copy in this country, but it is currently available to watch on UA-cam.

When I saw you were watching it I just had to tune in. Glad you liked it as well.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe. < you know who's here! LOL >
So glad you did a reaction to this wonderful film! You seem to feel the same as I do about it! It is wonderful, and I hoped from the second I finished watching that a sequel would be forthcoming. The music, the characters and the plot, only enhanced by the great cast. Wonderful, meaningful film, with the unique twist of being set in Down Under! Great job! No many reaction films out there for this one.
I'm not a big fan of Westerns or Tom Selleck, but this is one of my favorite films, and one of about three movie soundtracks I have ever bought. The 'Are we lost?" conversation is great.
The music is very similar to many old westerns. The Sons of Katie Elder is the most memorable. Starring John Wayne and Dean Martin. One you might enjoy. So glad you did Quigley, one of my all time favorites.
Oh by the way taking down two men with one shot is actually called a Quigley. Yes because of the movie
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing
One of my favorites! Would also love to see your reaction to the movie Maverick.
Happy new year Madison! way to kickoff 2025! Excellent choice in movies, I knew you would enjoy this one, and I was right! Can't wait to watch more with you, take care!
Oh Madison I'm so exited for you, you're gonna love this!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you!!! ❤️YES, I'm so happy you liked it, Cora's back story is heartbreaking, no kind of real man would do that to her!!! I hate mustaches & they remind me of 70s adult film stars, but 3 men were born to wear a mustache: Sam Elliott, Freddy Mercury & God bless him Tom Selleck!!!!!!! LOL 😂😆🤣
As for Westerns, both of my top favorites are based in Australia...Quigley and The Man From Snowy River.
Two of my all-time favorite movies have Allen Rickman in them this one and Galixey Quest!

Fun watch along, a good Western that I have enjoyed many times. Looking forward to more!!
A very good western/outback movie. I'm glad you decided on it. All the characters were classic and had great chemistry. Lots of fun. Good choice.
Thanks, Madison, for hitting one of my favorites.
Great movie reaction. Another movie with Tom Selleck that is a lot of fun and worth a review is High Road to China. Set in the 1920s in countries like Egypt, Western Asia and China, with biplanes instead of horses, it has a very western/Indiana Jones feel.
Wow this movie was one of my favorites when I was younger I watched it so much times I couldn't get enough of it more than 30 times I think it was a lot
Glad you enjoyed this one
Such an Amazing Movie! One of my favorites! Thank you for your Reaction Video ma'am. o7
OMG, so glad you finally made it here
gorgeous basil poledouris score
"Mr. Baseball" (1992) starring Tom Selleck in a baseball romcom. Or a Jesse Stone police role by Selleck, "Night Passage" (2006).
Such a classic ..big scenes, shots, music, villain good guy hero, Western!
Happy New Year and God Bless! Great movie to react too!
