I love the theory that The Kobolt Soul has it's origin in Calamity!
Recently joined a game and chose the sage cobalt soul background. I wanted to build a linguistics nerd focused character. But, all ranger and rogue stuff was covered elsewhere and the party sorely lacked a good consistent frontliner. So I chose the samurai subclass of fighter and took the linguistics feat. Honestly? It’s turning out amazing. It did take the dm and I a bit to figure out where their ranking was in the cobalt soul but we finally settled on expositor who seems like a monk. They are technically skilled in subterfuge but it is social in nature and not so much about stealth. I’m so glad for this video though. The reason I was saying all this is because it actually helped the dm and I settle on what sounded like the best fit for my character considering how they entered the campaign and joined the party. Honestly the party needs this too. They don’t have a face focus build among them, dump stat for most. So samurai’s courtier feature and my character’s focus on linguistics is a godsend to them in many ways, more so with their direct connection to the cobalt soul which, while they kinda do have a member that could assist, isn’t so much an actual member so much as knows someone. This works better. Anyway, enough sharing from me. Thanks for the video!!!!
I never really trusted the cobalt soul. It feels like a "who watches the watchmen"-situation. They have an entire department for uncovering corruption, but in the MN it turns out a member (Zeenoth) was in involved in illigal activities for years.
Corruption always will be no matter what even in such organizations like Cobalt Soul,but just because one member was corrupt doesn't mean that we should stop trusting the Cobalt soul
