The Vestiges are easily my favorite part of the CR books. I've made a custom set of Vestiges for my players, as I think the coolest way to implement this idea is to create your own items; it takes some time, but it's a really fun process.
Absolutely! They are a ton of fun! Seeing the players light up as their item advances is priceless! I am currently working on a few vestiges of my own, what were the biggest issues you had when creating yours?
Creating a certain Vestige with a certain player/character in mind, but trying to not make it too obvious. Easier said than done. I want to make sure there's some degree of flexibility when it comes to the items (i.e. that some characters can switch them around if needed), but also for the players to go "Yeah, this character + Vestige combo is particularly cool".

I think sneaking these in super early would be fun. Especially if they players don’t exactly know what they have.

That’s about how I’m approaching as well. Maybe a little more obvious haha
