Everything after that though... well, we all saw the montage.
Both fan explinations can work, Palpatine made the suit sh*tty so it makes Vader stronger from been in constant pain but also leaves it with a major weakness to electricity, The Emporers main weapon
As far as I know. I'm pretty sure the "fan theories", was actual lore from comic books. And the explanation goes that, his shoddy suit brought him constant pain, making him stronger in the dark side. But his suit was particularly weak against force lightning, making sure palpatine could kill him at any time, no matter how strong he got. So I don't think they contradict at all.
I distinctly remember the in-universe explanation for vader's crappy mechanics is because palpatine wanted him to constantly suffer to make him more obedient and powerful
I have my own personal theory, that the person responsible for justifying all the expenses was absolutely sick of filling out several pages of forms just to get every little thing signed off and simply started to claim they don't have the budget. XD
TBF about plastoid, it's actually better at absorbing shockwaves from explosives and small fragmentations, then any blaster fire. The higher tier troops get the more blaster resistant stuff. Basically the difference between a flak vest and full level 3-4 ceramic plates irl.
The "Too accurate for sand people" thing is really funny, because they're basically insane marksman in the lore because they're essentially using the Star Wars version of a musket. Plus, they just live in a desert wasteland. I mean what else do you do when there's nothing around? You get what you need to survive, then just train and shoot things in your downtime.
Funny thing about pink Darth Vader. There’s some images online of some prototype Lego Star Wars pieces made in various colors to test the molds. One of those prototypes is a pink Lego Darth Vader helmet.
One thing that a lot of Star Wars fans fail to realize is that Legends was made by dozens of authors over the course of 30-40 years. There's a lot of contradictions in there, and not all the work is good and even has some objectively weird stuff in its best series. I think the best example is when the Thrawn series tried to discuss what the Clone Wars was, totally contradicting the prequels because it was just made before that. Legends was more like a loose slot of headcannons and bent puzzle pieces that obliterated some other pieces- yeah no if I was a writer I'd throw all that shit out to just make my own contininuety. I feel like the mistake Disney made was making the distinctive of Legends and cannon instead of realizing what it really was. Also they revived Palpatine in legends and no one bats an eye.
Also just finished the video, skirts are comfy and purses are just convenient. I'm a dude and confident in my identity, who gives a shit if you don't follow Gender norms to a letter.
Considering I just recently watched a video where they blew up a military turret during a training exercise that killed several of the men on board because they skimped on maintenance, safety redundancies and supplies, even though they wanted a larger naval fleet and had the means to make improvements, the whole "budgetary restraints" seems so much more plausible, at least as code for "yea we can't be arsed to spend more funds on something people already assume is more of a threat than it is." Why invest more money on Vader if he does his job of intimidating the galaxy in his poorly made suit?
for the plastoid being blaster and saber resistant, it is nowhere near resistant to sabers, but to blaster bolts yes, we usually never see a hole burned through the troppers, just a dark splotch of soot. This leads me to believe that its the transfer of energy through the armor that causes broken ribs and ruptured organs, which kills them or takes them out of the fight
Palpatine told him the Empire lacked funding for his suit, but that's supposed to be an intentionally bad excuse that Vader knows the Emperor's lying, but he's forbidden from questioning him. The actual reason is touched on in the video; Palpatine believes Vader's touch with the dark side of the force would be greater if he was constantly in agony and consistently angry at Palpatine. It's still a really stupid thing to say, though, since he's supposed to be an always feared terminator that no one has survived against, yet there's so many examples of people in both comic canons that have survived encounters with him, and sometimes actually because of weaknesses in his suit!
On the stormtroopers convo. Obi wan would remember his experiences with stormtroopers. Considering hes a jedi that would usually mean hes having Order 66 clones or elite stormtroopers coming after him. Clone training or feom legends academy training for elite stormtroopers is like special forces levels. But personally i like the raid on the e-11 factory where rebles change the targeting settings on the blaster assembly line.
Just wondering. The story of Kylo being denied WiR2 for he was potrayed a spoiled brat. How did we get Matt the Radar Technician? How many loops did Saturday Night Live have to do bring us that?
Yeah pretty sure pappa palpatine just didnt wanna pay the bill lol like "ill give him the discount armor and find another new apprentice" really seems like a classic palpatine move
The thing about stormtroopers not hitting them on the death star because they wanted to track the ship back to the rebel base isn't even a fan theory. They say it in the movie. Tarkin asks someone if the tracking devices were in place on the ship
Pretty sure the cut-off for shoe size is whatever size they wear. If someone is that weird about shoe size, it's probably because they caught enough crap about it when they were kids that it stuck.
I do think from the new-ish Darthvader comics line they show that Palpatine made the suit vulnerable to lightening but was designed to manipulate Vader more through red lenses and constant pain to further his darkside powers. That's not a fan explanation and isn't really that contradictory. It's the "I have a self destruct button on the robot that I want to use to rule the galaxy so they don't try and murder me. You still want said robot to be powerful just specifically vulnerable to your specific power that little to nothing else really replicates as a weapon technology.
While I agree that "Budgetary Limitations" is *absolute* bullshit, if I were Palpatine and expecting an eventual double cross from my apprentice, I would definitely ensure that he had as many difficulties to deal with as possible without making him vulnerable to non-force users. Especially if I (rightly or wrongly) believed that he and I were the two strongest users of the force in the glaxy. Side note: keep on rocking the Hawaiian shirts! They look *awesome* on you!
Imperial HR Lady: Look, imperial law says we can only spend so much on any military unit, no matter how high the officer's rank. We would not have spent this much on any other soldier as it was except, you know, Emperor Palpatine told us to save him or else, and he was a hero of the war against the Jedi. The PR would have been terrible to not try and save him.
After 4 years wouldn't you have noticed a discrepancy between his foot size when he's wearing shoes and when he's not? Did this guy avoid being bare toed for 4 straight years?
I like to believe Vader killed way more storm troopers because they seen him trip over his cape or fall down the stairs and they couldn't stop themselves from laughing
I watched the first of the Disney trilogy in theater. Kylo Ren was throwing teenage hissy fits right and left. I was rolling my eyes. Not a villain, just a spoiled child
Guess Darth Vader and I have something in common, I struggle to find shoes that fit, Not because my feet are really big or small, But they're just really wide, So I can either get shoes that roughly fit but are too narrow, Or ones that are wide enough but way too big in other ways.
The suite was designed by Palpatine to inhibit Vader's ability to harness his true capabilities. Its designed to keep Vader always suffering and restricted. If Vader was stronger than Palpatine then Vader would take his roll as Master in the Rule of Two. The Dark Side is purely embodied by hate, anger and pain, so the suit can never break Vaders link to the Dark Side, but it definitely didnt make him stronger. It stunted his capabilities, he was ALWAYS the Chosen one by story design, so he could have been WAY stronger
It's a little silly to think that a galaxy-spanning empire wouldn't have the budget to outfit one of their biggest assets with basic comforts while they're building huge star destroyers and battleships, but I also look at the US and how we fund huge fuck-off military projects and yet "don't have the budget" for stuff like universal healthcare and utilities and infrastructure and I'm like, "yeah, that tracks."
Talking about the color stuff made me think about when you talked about deodorant. Because of you I stopped using axe. Nobody have ever said anything about how I smell anyway, so why buy something that’s more expensive and don’t even smell of anything. I also have black towels for a similar reason as your pink bag. It’s just because it’s for a white bathroom and I have roommates, so I didn’t want to have some random white towel
On the subject of Stormtroopers can't shoot straight, there's a UA-cam channel named Seth skorkowsky with a video named "why Stormtroopers are really badasses" where a group of gamers are sitting around a table playing a Star Wars TTRPG were they run across a patrol of Stormtroopers. 3 of the players laugh them off as no threat but 1 player insists they've been misunderstood by most ppl and that Stormtroopers are a deadly military unit and gives a explanation for everytime in the movies were they're shown as being bad shots and the growing down a continuity rabbit hole were they come to the realization that Ewokes must be the most deadly creatures in fiction. It's funny as he'll, plz check it out
If I had any control over it the reason for Vaders bad armour would be because Palpatine refuses to spend money on vaders armour, to make him weak as he will never be able to be as powerful in a suit that was perfect and to constantly keep him in pain and anger to prevent him from returning to the light.
Thing is, Darth Vader in his youth built droids and podracers. Surely he can just completely redesign and build another suit. Tony Stark built the Iron Man suit with a few busted AK47s and car parts with a home made forge while in captivity, so don't tell me a Sith couldn't just fuck shit up to make the best of a bad job.
They’re drunk as hell for not being able to understand the concept of not being able to walk properly if you’re wearing oversized shoes on your prosthetic legs😭😭
I'm a double amputee and small shoes do not concern me, I actually prefer smaller prosthetic feet because they are EASIER to get a proper heel-toe gait AND there is NO PAIN there because the feet are fake (however too big shoes do make it awkward to walk properly) When Vader walks off of that table in Ep3, it was the realist thing. It takes a while to adjust your brain to robotic knees.
The Vader suit stuff is still canon. It's supposed to be a test because Palpatine was constantly testing Vader's resilience and loyalty to him. Across all of the books and comics where you see Vader's perspective, you see that everything he does is judged by Palpatine and he's constantly getting curve balls from him.
Yikes. I've got quite wide feet, so I almost always had to buy soccer shoes a size too big, and it's a weird feeling having that much air between your toes and the end of the shoe. I certainly wouldn't do it for vanity!
Isnt there something in the lore that sith apprentices have a habit of overthrowing their masters? Maybe Palpatine was purposely nerfing Darth Vader so that couldn't happen. Palpatine's a smart cookie, fooling the whole senate. Wouldn't put it past him to be a student of history
A lot of people have sent me DMs asking about my loud shirts in the last few episodes. They're all from Primark.

Wait, aren’t his feet robotic? Why would he need to wear shoes that fit him anyway?
Edit: oh, they did talk about this
I distinctly remember the in-universe explanation for vader's crappy mechanics is because palpatine wanted him to constantly suffer to make him more obedient and powerful
"Darth Vader wing"
Underrated line!
This was fun! Thank you! 💖
Does Oscar Pistorius wear shoes? If so then I can believe Darth Vader does.
Bigger size shoes and im taller than Karl, and totaly dont have a small peenis, so there.... lmao love you guys
Funny thing about pink Darth Vader. There’s some images online of some prototype Lego Star Wars pieces made in various colors to test the molds. One of those prototypes is a pink Lego Darth Vader helmet.
in rebels when Rex is disguised as a storm trooper he throws of the helmet he's waring saying he cant see wright well aiming
As a tall guy with big feet, it is an absolute ball ache to find something that fits comfortably.
I think my favorite Star wars moment is in the first season of the mandolorian where 2 storm troopers couldn't shoot a can
Just wondering. The story of Kylo being denied WiR2 for he was potrayed a spoiled brat. How did we get Matt the Radar Technician? How many loops did Saturday Night Live have to do bring us that?
In universe, the Jedi had trading cards based around them and Anakin was mad because his card had low metachlorians but high agility.
I always thought it was payback for letting Mace Windu barbecue his face.😂
7:44 In the movie they literally say afterwards, “That was too easy, they must have let us escape” 🤦♂️
Well Darth Vader isnt that tall cause I'm taller!
What's funny is that Vader's legs are cybernetic
Imperial HR Lady: Look, imperial law says we can only spend so much on any military unit, no matter how high the officer's rank. We would not have spent this much on any other soldier as it was except, you know, Emperor Palpatine told us to save him or else, and he was a hero of the war against the Jedi. The PR would have been terrible to not try and save him.
After 4 years wouldn't you have noticed a discrepancy between his foot size when he's wearing shoes and when he's not? Did this guy avoid being bare toed for 4 straight years?
When they started talking about referencing darth vaders pink armor I immediately thought about the parody with a female darth vader lmfao
Legends say that Vader's underwear comes prepackaged with a few grains of sand, personally requested by the Emporer.
I thought it was some kind of punishment for failure
I mean... that's space fascism for you.
New theory, the emperor put a pebble in his shoe, to cause him egony.
10,000,000?! Really?! The PRoC has 2,000,000 and they're one country on one planet!
They're not outfitted with top of the line plastisteel armor though... 😄
I didn’t even realize how stupid it is that his shoes don’t fit
when i was a kid i just thought obi wan was trolling, the way he says it kinda makes it sound like that
The suite was designed by Palpatine to inhibit Vader's ability to harness his true capabilities.
3 of the players laugh them off as no threat but 1 player insists they've been misunderstood by most ppl and that Stormtroopers are a deadly military unit and gives a explanation for everytime in the movies were they're shown as being bad shots and the growing down a continuity rabbit hole were they come to the realization that Ewokes must be the most deadly creatures in
fiction.
Obi wan being sarcastic about their accuracy
Thing is, Darth Vader in his youth built droids and podracers. Surely he can just completely redesign and build another suit. Tony Stark built the Iron Man suit with a few busted AK47s and car parts with a home made forge while in captivity, so don't tell me a Sith couldn't just fuck shit up to make the best of a bad job.
They’re drunk as hell for not being able to understand the concept of not being able to walk properly if you’re wearing oversized shoes on your prosthetic legs😭😭
My feet are just small enough that I can't shop men's shoes... It's a pain !
Pink Vader? Nah, go the whole way and make it a Hello Kitty Darth Vader.
;p
Sounds like Palpatine is still pissed about Vader losing the fight against Obi-Wan and is just going "uhh sorry mate, budget issues"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooohhh
My sister's ex boyfriend wore size 9 shoes. He was really size 6. When he went out swimming he would never use sandals.😂
