Robert Patrick has talked about his trouble with substance abuse, which is why he didn't get some roles he probably should have after T2, he does some good interviews about it. You should watch Fire in the Sky to see Robert Patrick's range.
My favorite line by Schwarzenegger is "You know what killed the dinosaurs? The ICE AGE!!!" 😎 *proceeds to freeze the ballroom while laughing maniacally*
It's actually a myth that there's an infinite number of alternative universes. There's just 2.... This universe and the other one is called "The Another Universe".
I've always thought that. John unintentionally creates a Grandfather paradox. And the first movie is not the original timeline but the aftermath of constant time traveling.
Appropriate shirt for this time... not just for Toriyama's recent passing, but also that he was inspired by the Terminator series and put lots of shout-outs in the Dragon Ball franchise.
[Blade] with Wesley Snipes had this issue, too. At the end of the fa opening rave fight, Blade seems to vanish and you only get to see a little flick of darkness on the left in 4/3. In Widescreen, it actually shows Blade escape the police raid through a window/hole in the wall. Never would have noticed if not for having watched 4/3 before the WS.
As a kid, I was dumb. I was convinced that there was basically an infinite amount of background/scene detail that could only be seen with larger tv screens. I was so stressed that something was happening just outside the edge of my screen that I was missing because we werent rich, & couldnt afford massive tv sets. 😂
I cant wait for movies to be filmed so you can watch them on a regular screen AND in vertical format on tiktok, or in a square with Minecraft parkour playing on the bottom half of the screen
What gets me is something I didn't really figure out until watching _T2: Judgement Day_ when I was a bit older and that is in the film they were trying to do a bait-and-switch, in that they were trying to mislead the viewer into thinking that Arnold was the bad guy and Robert Patrick was going to be John Conner's protector (the Kyle Reese analogue, if you will) with the big reveal being in the scene in the mall where it turns out that Robert Patrick is a terminator and the T800 us actually there to protect John. This went over my head back when I first saw it due largely to the promotional campaigns. Right from the off, it was established in various press releases, interviews and clips that Arnie was going to be the "good guy". By that time, Schwarzenegger had been established as the hero in his films _Predator, Total Recall, Commando, The Running Man_ and had been flexing his comedy chops in _Twins,_ so I don't think audiences wouldn't have bought Arnie as a bad guy at the time, so sold the film with him as the hero. However, there us a bit in the actual film that I think pops the balloon of him being set up as the antagonist, and that is the bit where he gets his clothes, gun and motorbike from the biker's bar. For one, he doesn't kill any of the bikers- a but of a leap from where his predecessor puts his fist though the punk's chest in the similar scene from the first film, and that the scene ends with "Bad to the bone" is indicative to me that the scene is played for laughs.
I don't think UA-cam is worth going on If you guys don't have content on please never take anything down I love watching new videos and rewatching the old videos your team is by far the best on UA-cam thank you for all the amazing content
Peter Weller could have made a good T1000 as well, or vice-versa - Robert Patrick has that physicality and grace to his movement, and was also skinny so would fit in the robo-cop suit.
The opposite issue with Widescreen also happens, where it was filmed wide, then cropped in the edit, never issued in widescreen, but they have since remastered in widescreen, and there are things in view that didn't matter, but now are visible .. like people waiting for their cue, the crew, etc ...
Was not expecting the Drakengard/nier stage play reference haha I read the translation of that the other day. It's the canon of what happens after nier automata and only available online in like 480p and japanese
So, fun fact about Terminator 2. Robert Patrick, who played the T-1000, was actually able to chase down John on the motorbike during filming in the scene where John is leaving the arcade. They had to reshoot the scene a few times in order to get a take where he didn't catch John.
T-1000 in Sarah Connor Chronicles was great. It tries to bond with the people in the life of the woman it took over and for most of it you aren't sure if it's mimicry/blending, experiment/amusement or genuine desire. Could have done with a few more seasons.
I wouldn't mind if you did a video on T2 every month. I love how only now, over 30 years later, do some of the special effects start to feel dated. Best action film of all time!
*Why is there only 1 T-1000* I would have just said that making polymometic alloy is actually really hard, and in the blasted wasteland of the future Skynet just didn't have enough resources to fully make more than one, the TX makes use of the small amount Skynet had left after the T-1000 was made. I'm imagining that since most everything was nuked Skynet only has access to the facilities that it's built itself. Remember, it took a while for it to develop the T-800's that had living skin, and by the time it was turning to time travel it was LOSING the war.
My favourite example of the topic at the beginning is that the Star Wars side of Disneyland is canon to the SW galaxy. Because of this coca cola and other brands technically exists in star wars canon
Iirc, the part where he transforms into the security guard and stabs him in the head, was also done with twins. They are the twin scientists from Gremlins 2 The New Batch.
I know you guys have not realized (unless it was not said in the video) that the T-1000 needs DNA samples from the person to transform into them basically.
For kingdom hearts you just have to play every game in release order for the full story which is completely normal since all the games are on the same consoles except the phone ones but you can watch the cutscenes and you have a phone let's be real. Oh and you have to read the ultimanias and have gone to some japanese only concerts which is definitely weird
My mom actually went to high school with the twins from the psych ward scene. According to her one was very quiet and serious while the other was playful and silly.
Gonna look up that theme park ride video. Sad to say, I'm old enough to remember when it was announced, and I really wanted to see it at the time, but no money.......and all that is still true today 😅
I know this is probably heretical but I really rather enjoyed Genysis? I liked how it poked around with multiversal theories and leaned into _we can try anything now_.
Retcon headcanon: The memetic alloy neural network is dependant on the volume/density of memetic alloy in one mass. The T-1000 in T2 could have been just enough material, which was convinced to follow out its task (perhaps as an agreement with the main mass kept at at the bottom of the sea surrounded by turrets, should the T-1000 succeed it wouldnt have a reason to imprison the mass....which of course is bullshit because SkyNet can simply leave itself messages in the past (perhaps encoded in the time displacement bubbles EMI signature which would get detected by any number of systems in the current day, even if we dont know what it is, SkyNet will....I wonder what was in the "Wow signal'....) which explains why even though the humans won in T1 and SkyNet sent back the T1 T-800 as a hail mary play, ergo right after that event SkyNet fell allowing them to use the time displacement machine to send back Kyle Reese, SkyNet still rises again in T2 due to the accelerated works of CyberDyn), required to carry out that mission. The lesser liquid 'nanite' style goop in following travisties....er, I mean, movies....may have been a material either as stated made of nano bots, or a sort of 'dumbed down' version of the T-1000 liquid metal. Perhaps they doped the alloy with another element to dumb it down some. Also, the acid totally would have worked. The reaction of acid and metal can cause all sorts of fun things like electrical currents, ionic bond cleaving, etc. We're not sure how the memetic alloy sticks together, but if something is actively interfering with an electrochemical bond that would certainly cause issues for a memetic polyalloy. Even rusting its surfaces, although THAT part I can see not really happening....maybe some bits get rusted, but with time the remaining material can coagulate and repair itself.
I'd love to hear the discussion about film ratios. While I can understand a director having a vision of what the film is supposed to look like, having same films dane in imax ratio only pisses me off. Oh, you want the full experiance of the film, fork over the money to not only buy the most expensive cinema ticket possible, but for most people also pay up for traveling to and from a city that has an imax in it.
I got to go to the Terminator ride at Orlando and it was AWESOME!! It started as being a tour of Cyberdine Systems and their new war bots. And then the day of the Skynet attack happens and the robots "Gun Down" everyone in the audience and then John Connor shows up and a guy dressed as the terminator, then they drive a motorcycle into a movie screen which turns into the movie clips we saw. Later it is revealed that skynet LOVED the T-1000 and so made th T-1,000,000. It was sick as he'll lol.
*T-1000 vs Acid* Wait, why wouldn't the acid work? Like I can imagen it taking longer to melt in real life but I would also think that it would take acid damage?
07:00 When I was working at my local Blockbuster in the late nineties, customers kept asking why "widescreen" VHS retail tapes were one pound more expensive than the "fullscreen" versions, which presumably showed more of the actual picture, right? Right? 🙂 To be fair, as Karl points out, most people didn't have widescreen TVs yet, so I always tried to remember to blame the marketing people rather than customer ignorance.
It's so annoying that to honestly make a good terminator sequel all they have to do is make an older John Conner the protector and have a terminator come back and when they face off the dialogue reveals the terminator could not give two shits who John is, revealing that the past actions work and skynet has been defeated before it even started but it's resulted in just starting the cycle over with a new saviour that john has to find and save with his outdated knowledge of the terminators.
My dad built a ttrpg around Terminator and has everything true to the lore. The T-1000 and tx only lose because of writing and the interference of the humans but one on one the T-800 using the on paper specs from the lore just doesn't win
Why can't there just be another mode where it fits to screen?? Like, stretch it to just make it fit, and on Displays it don't look good on, it don't look good on and they just not use that mode, lol.
Compare Robert Patrick’s gunplay in Terminator 2 to Steven Segal in literally any of his crimes against celluloid. Or ideally, don’t. Because Segal is awful.
Ugh, all this talk about CG, reminds me of the trailer for the new Mad Max trailer, it just feels like poor CGI everywhere, when the first one was so tastefully done.

Never forget the child in T2 who inadvertently saves the world by instinctively lying to a cop.
and the other girl that instantly snitched straight after
To be fair, he lied to the cop cuz the cop was looking for his friend, who he often did crime with.
