... this isn't even close to my business, and this would only be entertainment if I was addicted to adderall still (Oh btw the only reason I subscribed was aderall addiction, I wonder if these lower subbed youtube channels only appeal to amphetamine addicts, LOL it'd be extremely bad for people if that was true because amphetamine gets you addicted to thing your not able to be interested in when your sober
When you said you wanted to give us a few shots of the flamed body to soak it in, my mind heard "soak in it" and I thought, okay that would be fun. That's some deep flame goin' on there.
Wood matched electronic cavity covers should be standard on expensive guitars. I have seen so many expensive guitars with cheap plastic electronic covers.
As a shortcut to my tremolo back plate, I close it with two screws on diagonally opposite corners (lets say bottom right and top left). This helps me keep the plate in place using least amount of screws. I avoid keeping it open to prevent from dust or any other accidents possible. But yes a magnetic back plate is needed for both tremolo cavity and electronics.
If that wooden plate warps it wont stick to all the magnets anymore, and might not stay on. I think Crimson Guitars did magnets for a few customs but went back to screws for reliability.
Greetings Darrell! I am looking forward to seeing and hearing the finished guitar. Thank you for posting this video! Please have an excellent and awesome day! 🙂
Darrell, I have to wait and see it once it is all together, I think the neck is nice... however if it was mine I would have gone with a roasted maple neck and fretboard. I'm really looking forward to hearing those pickups, I'm sure they will sound great.
I read a few reviews, it seems like you’re going to get every opinion possible! For me, I think the cover looks classy an minimalist - a contemporary nod to the ‘ash tray’. And I liked the look of the 3 compensated saddles, in preference to the individuals - makes it look more ‘genuine Tele’, not a Strat hybrid. The magnetic back plate is brilliant. Classy build. Enjoy!
Darrell, I just want to thank you for everything you do on this channel. Yours is by far the best of all available guitar oriented channels, regarding quality, content and personality, and you have helped me go from a novice with a an old no-good acoustic guitar into a pretty decent player owning one of each classic guitar models, something I would not have been able to do without your videos, guidance and help. So, cheers from Sweden, please keep up the great great work. // Matt Sammekull
This is going to look incredible and sound great too... I love the channel-bound neck with the maple on the pickup and the flame on the body... can't wait to see and hear the result. Leave out the ash tray cover... the only change I would have made would have been something like a Gotoh bridge plate with individual saddles or something... but nonetheless.... it will be great!
I just got a Jennings with Lambertone Blondies and that bridge is the best I have ever heard. Clear but never ice-picky. Really excited to see how it matches with the Porter. Killer looking build!
I subscribed Darrell's channel 3 months ago, and everytime i open UA-cam, i check for the new video on the channel! Back to back videos every fortnight, So interesting, helpful and loving channel! Thank you Darrell! Love you, love your channel! 💖
Aw, Darrell, that is a beauty! I can’t wait to see it come together! I’ve really been looking hard at getting a Tele, and watching your videos has given me lots of ideas! Love your channel and appreciate your content. I’d put the “ashtray cover” on the Bridge for both comfort and looks!
Hey Darryl, that guitar is gonna look amazing when it’s done, I actually would use the ashtray on the bridge in this case, I think the chrome looks great with all the maple
This should be an interesting build. Certainly tweaked MY interest. Personally I would have gone with a darker neck as I think that white maple is too much contrast with the body (or maybe the body is too over the top :) ) but I like that channeled look. Looking forward to more videos in this series.
I think the neck is the keeper and I would make the body a little darker to more match the rosewood in the neck, light enough so you can still appreciate the flame.
Gonna be beautiful! I've been building my own from scratch. Modified Jaguar style body with a headstock similar to a PRS. Body - chambered Bubinga wood with a bird's eye maple neck. Gibson hot P90s w/3 way switch, 2 tones/2volume and all gold hardware. I would love to send you a picture when it's getting close to done.
Darrell! You made me want to build my own guitar! I picked out all the parts, priced it up. Watched a bunch of videos and then came to my f***ng senses. I don't know squat about building a guitar! Loads of fun watching you though :D
The book matching on the body is killer. Beautiful flame maple. I 'm also impressed with the magnetic flame maple electronics cover plate. It's a travesty that parts makers have the audacity to use plastic covers (exaggerating of course but you get the idea). I love that routed neck. This is going to be a gorgeous guitar. Looking forward to the next installment video.
Thanks for your dedication & hard work! 🙏 I really enjoy your videos and info as a guy that hasn’t yet started playing, and wants to build his own first electric guitar.
thats absolutely beautiful, congrats,I love that Porter pickups,I had Brian put together a loaded hss strat pick guard for a build Im doing, can't wait to get it, and use the cover on the bridge, this is a unique build, it will look great
Darrell when you’re done with this build and this video regarding this guitar, plz send it to me! Hahaha lol love the guitar you’re trying to out together. Can’t wait for part 2&3 for this build. Great video as always!!!!
Very Interesting. One of my Bucket list items. After seeing the Body I realized Its the right time. Great Content You are doing a good job of changing it up and keeping the interest level high.
I would’ve gone for block inlays and I would’ve sent the neck pickup to the guys you got the body from, so they could’ve painted it together with the body. Love the neck and the body!
This guitar looks sick, but honestly I think it's kinda missing a "theme". To me, the body screams modern, but the pickups and most importantly the neck and the hardware scream traditional. I think I would have gone with something like a one piece flame or Birdseye maple neck for this one
Wow!!! This was a really gorgeous set up for guitar and I love the T body style! Man I wish I could build guitars like this and I hope someday I could afford this kinds of stuffs and will keep on rock'n :D
I have to say that body is exceptional. I personally would want a roasted neck but that’s me. I would also not use the neck plate on the back. Just ferrules. Easy alteration. I think the plate just would take away from the back. You should have gotten into The Great Guitar Build Off! There’s always next year.🤐
Yess, I just said that maple will be an amazing fit and I also think that you should use the bridge cover cause without it, it feels like something is missing for me this little cover adding more vintage look to it and when you add it I was like "WOW, hell ya"
Love building proyects. That guitar is going to be unique, so I think you should use that little cover on the bridge, in order to make it even more unique. Anyway, It´s easy to remove if you finally dont like it. Looking forward to next video!
I would add the cover. Somehow ties in the binding on the neck. Was in the market for a new guitar and you just solved my problem on what to get... Build my own.. Thanks
It's amazing to me how popular Telecasters are in are now. When I was coming up in the 70s, nobody was playing them. No rockers anyway. Only country and blues players. ( Keith Richards obvious exception, but I can think of few others.)
Yes. Go with the cover on the bridge. Awesome looking guitar. Can’t wait to hear it. 👍
Long overdue (i know), but this is going to be a good one!
Enjoy :) PART 2 is live here: ua-cam.com/video/0khnccYscXM/v-deo.html
So excited! This is going to be killer!
dude... thought you built your dream guitar already... maybe twice...
Finally!!
... this isn't even close to my business, and this would only be entertainment if I was addicted to adderall still (Oh btw the only reason I subscribed was aderall addiction, I wonder if these lower subbed youtube channels only appeal to amphetamine addicts, LOL it'd be extremely bad for people if that was true because amphetamine gets you addicted to thing your not able to be interested in when your sober
When you said you wanted to give us a few shots of the flamed body to soak it in, my mind heard "soak in it" and I thought, okay that would be fun.
That's some deep flame goin' on there.
I thought that custom black strat was your nicest build, but this is on another level
same! cant wait to hear this thing
We really need to just make magnetic back covers industry standard
Jesse's Auditorium agreed!
Wood matched electronic cavity covers should be standard on expensive guitars. I have seen so many expensive guitars with cheap plastic electronic covers.
We need it ASAP
As a shortcut to my tremolo back plate, I close it with two screws on diagonally opposite corners (lets say bottom right and top left).
This helps me keep the plate in place using least amount of screws. I avoid keeping it open to prevent from dust or any other accidents possible.
But yes a magnetic back plate is needed for both tremolo cavity and electronics.
If that wooden plate warps it wont stick to all the magnets anymore, and might not stay on. I think Crimson Guitars did magnets for a few customs but went back to screws for reliability.
I kind of like that little tail piece cover, I would personally use it myself.
I have an American Pro Tele can I can't for the life of me get the thing to go on right.
@@801guitar3 keep trying, you'll get it eventually
I dont like the piece, makes the Tele look too shiny and tacky. Without it, it looks like a Tele should...a nice reliable workhorse.
As a musician and a guitar player, when i see the smile on your face i can fell the emotion and love for any thing related with the guitar.
Just wow. Body is gorgeous and I’ve never seen a neck like that. That’s going to be an amazing build. 🔥
Watching you unpack those parts was like watching my kids at Christmas. Great choices on your parts.
Definite WOW, Darrell! YES, use the little cover. Just because no one else does, these days, and it really contributes to a clean look.
Enjoy!
Hey man, you definitely deserve your dream guitar, especially with expertise and effort like that!

Cant wait 2 see this beast come 2gether🎸
This is going to look incredible and sound great too... I love the channel-bound neck with the maple on the pickup and the flame on the body... can't wait to see and hear the result. Leave out the ash tray cover... the only change I would have made would have been something like a Gotoh bridge plate with individual saddles or something... but nonetheless.... it will be great!
Exactly , why put on something you can never truly intonate .I would have went with a Hipshot or Gotoh.
Or Babicz.
I just got a Jennings with Lambertone Blondies and that bridge is the best I have ever heard. Clear but never ice-picky. Really excited to see how it matches with the Porter. Killer looking build!
Man, beeing a luthier is so good! To develop the own projects...
Excited to see this custom Tele build and singing!

That guitar is going to be special all around!
Love the colour and grain on the body, absolutely outstanding!
Thanks for posting.
Gorgeous parts. I definitely think that the small tray endpiece should be used as the cherry on the cake. Suits perfect to the build!
It's just that Darrell wants to keep the beast grounded if it was flame maple Bruce Springsteen would buy it
Beautiful. Look forward to the finished guitar 🎸
Wow, that is one gorgeous body! I love the quality and the magnetic control cover is cool as heck. That neck is awesome, too.
Wow that's a beautiful body.a cool neck as well. can't wait to see the finished product.thanks Darrell love these vids
Looks gr8 Darrell! I would have liked to go with the same neck only "roasted"!!! Anxious to see the build!
Hey Darryl, that guitar is gonna look amazing when it’s done, I actually would use the ashtray on the bridge in this case, I think the chrome looks great with all the maple
Beautiful!!! With all these high end parts it HAS to sound great!!
You can hear the excitement in his voice
Definitely the cover over the bridge!
I was missing this things! You should do more of these buildings...
Have been looking for a high-end project. This looks the ticket :). Thanks Darrell.
This should be an interesting build. Certainly tweaked MY interest. Personally I would have gone with a darker neck as I think that white maple is too much contrast with the body (or maybe the body is too over the top :) ) but I like that channeled look. I think the neck is the keeper and I would make the body a little darker to more match the rosewood in the neck, light enough so you can still appreciate the flame.
Man... your energy is so infections! When you talk about the body decor you cant seem to wipe the grin off of your face. Love your channel my man!
Darrell, love your videos. I’m currently building my own telecaster at the moment and learning as much as possible from watching your videos. 👍🏻👍🏻😊😊
Gonna be beautiful! I've been building my own from scratch. Modified Jaguar style body with a headstock similar to a PRS. Body - chambered Bubinga wood with a bird's eye maple neck. Splendid project ! I can't wait for the next episode !!!! Congratulations, Darrell
Hi Darrell. This is going to be a custom, custom shop guitar. Looking forward to the build.
I see the glass neck in the background. Love that thing!
Love the mini "ashtray"look for this Tele bridge, while it keeps palm muting effective, it is classy, functional and chic!
its so nice seeing how happy he gets
wow that neck is phenomenal
Those will look so cool together, I bet you are excited.
Whoa! Just put a set of Porter WRHs in my tele deluxe refresh! Great pickups! Beautiful instrument, Darrell!
I am excited! You seem like a giddy kid in a candy store! Looking forward to parts 2 and 3!
Thanks for your dedication & hard work! 🙏 I really enjoy your videos and info as a guy that hasn’t yet started playing, and wants to build his own first electric guitar.

HELL YES!!

This got to be one of the best looking guitars that I’ve ever seen.

Very Interesting. One of my Bucket list items. After seeing the Body I realized Its the right time.
Great Content You are doing a good job of changing it up and keeping the interest level high.
Can't wait to see and hear the finished guitar🤤
Exposed brass saddles looks great, as nice a chrome cover as it is I'd leave it off. That's a gorgeous body finish!
"Chambered solid maple..."
Is that anything like fully semi-automatic?
omg even the pickup cavities are perfectly made
I would’ve gone for block inlays and I would’ve sent the neck pickup to the guys you got the body from, so they could’ve painted it together with the body. Love the neck and the body!
my man’s wall starting to like guitar center😌
Can’t wait to hear what it sounds like. I built the strat I’ve always wanted to recently and could not be more happy with it!
This guitar looks sick, but honestly I think it's kinda missing a "theme". To me, the body screams modern, but the pickups and most importantly the neck and the hardware scream traditional. I think I would have gone with something like a one piece flame or Birdseye maple neck for this one
Love it I can't wait to see it finished and some tone
Wow!!! This was a really gorgeous set up for guitar and I love the T body style! Man I wish I could build guitars like this and I hope someday I could afford this kinds of stuffs and will keep on rock'n :D
I built a custom boutique tele! I had a blast and it’s so good! Building yourself is so much better!
Tye is an awesome builder and top notch bloke
Body is nuts
I have to say that body is exceptional. I personally would want a roasted neck but that’s me. I would also not use the neck plate on the back. Just ferrules. Easy alteration. I'm blown away man...just wow...!
That fake binding on the neck looks awesome!!
Très bon choix des accessoires ! Je m’inspire beaucoup de tes vidéos - merci 😊
2:03 look how pleased Darrell is haha
Yess, I just said that maple will be an amazing fit and I also think that you should use the bridge cover cause without it, it feels like something is missing for me this little cover adding more vintage look to it and when you add it I was like "WOW, hell ya"
Darrell!! 🤗🤗🤗 I would say use the ashtray bro it’s vintage and cool.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing this one! That is an animal looking to happen guitar!🤩
I would use the cover and I think It would look even better with gold hardware. This is just my opinion. Great video!
Agreed, that body is hella stunning
This kinda of videos make me wanna build my own guitar some day. Nice one.
YOu ALWAYS thrull the hell out of us....THANK YOU!
I like this Build series, kinda gives me the ideas for my own build.
Definitely with the bridge cover.
Love building proyects. That guitar is going to be unique, so I think you should use that little cover on the bridge, in order to make it even more unique. Anyway, It´s easy to remove if you finally dont like it. Looking forward to next video!
So excited to see this finally! That body has needed a neck for quite some time :)

I would add the cover. Somehow ties in the binding on the neck. Was in the market for a new guitar and you just solved my problem on what to get... Build my own.. Thanks
Is that Corona on 8:46 ? What a subliminal message!! Nice build!
Looks like tiger stripes love it
This is literally the best looking neck I have ever seen in my entire life
Love the neck. Use the ashtray. Distressed
translucent Blonde is the only Tele color for me (I know old and boring) but look forward to your build.
Great choices. That humbucker against the flame is very choice.
That flamed maple on the body...🔥🔥 I was starting to wonder if you forgot about it 😂 Anyway, great video as usual, keep it up !
It's amazing to me how popular Telecasters are in are now. When I was coming up in the 70s, nobody was playing them. No rockers anyway. Only country and blues players. ( Keith Richards obvious exception, but I can think of few others.)
There's just a couple of obscure ones,
Stairway to Heaven
Hotel California
London Calling
Roxanne
Born to Run
...
Okay maybe more than a few.
😃👍🏻
@@Riverdeepnwide of course those aren't obscure songs. But it's a rarity to have seen a tele on stage during the seventies or '80s in any Rock band.
Great choices for your build can’t wait to here it love the channel bound neck great video.
This is awesome! I’ve been dying for another one of your build videos!! And I just finished a build of my own so that’s amazing timing!
Love these builds. I have mine planned ahead, for one day when I have money.....
Everything looks amazing, Darrell but the ashtray! No ashtray man! lol
Wooooooo. Beautiful!. Could you also install a mini-humbucker for the neck? That Fender neck is gorgeous. I love it.
*FAN TASTIC!!!!*
Nice!
You inspire me to build my own guitar time after time but this may do the trick.
That magnetic cover is so damn cool.
