The dancers on the left reminded my of my first Teen Town dance.......I would have watched them wide eyed.....and learned how to do their dancing moves. Well, it would have been cool to see those two when I was just a kid.....
Storyville was once the "red light" district of the Big Easy. This tune manages to capture both the sadness and the fun times of that era. Nobody, but nobody plays this better than Tuba Skinny and if there is a better cornet player than Shaye I have yet to hear them.
@@sergioamayajr.5868 I was stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi for a couple of years and have many great memories of the Big Easy. It is indeed a lovely city and has the best food and music in the world in my opinion. You are truly blessed to be living there.
Gorgeous music. I'm working on a book about Storyville, it's become somewhat of a mission for me. My husband and I did our honeymoon in NOLA in 1993 and we're really wanting to go back when things calm a bit.
The movie "Pretty Baby" was about the period of time when Storyville existed. The U.S. Navy base in Algiers back then (1903) provided a steady flow of customers.
Staying a home quite a bit lately trying to respect social distancing. It’s given me the opportunity to seek out some things on UA-cam I hadn’t done previously. Found this band because of circumstances and ever so grateful for it! Thanks UA-cam!

It cheers me up even when I don't need it. I'm in a great mood at the moment. I'm about to start a new job I'm really excited about and I've just drunk a bottle of Champagne with the woman I love sitting in front of the fire (I'm English and it's cold and wet here at the moment) and despite being in a good mood already, this lifted my spirits even further. Thank you Shaye and Tuba Skinny - you are absolutely great.

For my money, this is what New Orleans is all about; great music. In addition to being an excellent band, I've noticed that Tuba Skinny seems to attract the best dancers. Moral of the story? I've got to get my New England carcass back to Nawlins.

Humphrey Littleton , George Melly , Ronnie.Scott . Trad jazz always part of our weekends . Still have the vinyals with me now in Africs classics from 1958 onwards . Great music in Africa but loved those Sunday night in Greenfield . T.S. keep this music alive keeps coffin dodgers like me going.
Surprisingly good sound on this video. The buildings around the band seem to be adding a very full element. Those dancers are obviously having a good time.
Pretty unique set up….a jazz combo with a full string section…great repertoire, covering jazz from its beginnings, crossing over into blues, delivered with phenomenal skill. Very p,eased to brag that I’ve seen them in their natural environment, the French Quarter.
All of it makes a good impression: amazing music, great players and a warm setting around. Yet, I should say these dancing couples look well too. Great thanks.
My mind travel to the 20’’s in NO In a lazy and sunny afternoon and the same beautiful of blues wit jazz that the wind takes and spread it for all over the city.
I was there for this moment... It was just as magical as I had imagined it would be. Saw there set in the morning, then wandered around the quarter and stumbled upon them in the street setting up to play. 💜
Amazingly, few people even know of this REAL JAZZ music, they've been ear bashed with POP CRAP for years there's also the fact that the guys playing the instruments are musicians, NOT 'wannabee wankers' with 100 megawatt amplifiers and distorted 'sound' gear.It requires timing, melody, harmony and a sense of feeling, that's why there's nothing like it. Well Done 'Nawleans', a great export product too.
This band should be used as therapy by the medical industry. Suffering with stress, depression or just in need of a pick me up etc... go to New Orleans and get yerself a dose of Tuba Skinny !!! All will be well again :O)

Probably one of the top 5 jazz tunes ever and beautifully played outdoors too and I have been following Trad Jazz for 68 years.
