    Ah yes a fellow Shaman connoisseur. Literally the only class in WoW that I enjoy, and also lore-wise I think shamans are really cool in any fantasy setting. Definitely gonna play a shaman in WotR

      I've always found most other games shamans pretty different from WoWs. WoW being mostly elemental based, and most other games being more spirits/the dead based or nature based.

    Possessed Shaman looks like a solid support class build around WIS, CHA, DEX and extra skills.

    With Oracle and Shaman, the developers added some new interesting option for Divine spellcasting. I really like it.
    A little tip for when talk about pellcasting: can u add max lvl they get and which list of spells they use?

    There's a couple of changes from PnP, although it could just be due to it being a beta. In the PnP their "domain slots" aren't actually slots you use to place the spell, instead you can spontaneously cast any of the spells from either spirits list, including the wandering ones, but only one spell per spell level per day. Like other spontaneous casters you can add metamagic on the fly to those spells but it lengthens the cast time. Also in the PnP Unsworn Spirits still get the "domain slots" and a familiar, it's just they get it at level 2 instead of level 1.
    It's surprising they kept the Spirit animals being called "spirit animals" though. In the PnP familiars can killed, and each of the Shamans main spirits (except Unsworn which uses their Wandering Spirit) gives the familiar a unique bonus. Life's for instance gives them a permanent fast healing ability, while Bones gives the familiar a permanent Blur effect. Given that familiar's in this can't be killed, it's not surprising they removed the ability but I'd have expected them to call them familiars.

    So wisdom casting and charisma class features, pretty similar to the arcanist.

    Hello, I know I'm a year to late, but I would still like to ask about the boni from the Spirit animals: does the bonus they provide only applies to the shaman in question (in the description it says "the familiar's master"), or do they apply to general all checks/the checks of the party.
    To give an example, if I -as a shaman- take a raven familiar, who gives +2 Perception and +2 Persuasion, but let Seelah "handle" all social encounters, because her persuasion skill is higher than mine, are Seelahs rolls getting the additional raven bonus? Or does a familiar bonus just apply to my own rolls?

      I'm a year late to this as well, but I'm pretty sure it's character-specific. So if your shaman took the raven familiar, but you let Seelah handle persuasion stuff, she wouldn't get a +2. It'd be whatever her score is without the raven.

    I am interested how this will in game as in pnp they feel a tad underwhelming or I just played it wrong lol.

    • @zidanewaterflower
      @zidanewaterflower 3 роки тому +2

      Same! I think it'll be a bit better for the game specifically because of getting to choose the wandering spirit 1/day instead of when you wake up. It's *more* versatile, and versatility in Pathfinder typically means greater 'strength'.

    It's worth mentioning that the shaman can go into the winter witch class later... not that I would recommend that.

    Btw, how a hex differs from a regular spell?

    • @Squeeble00
      @Squeeble00 3 роки тому +4

      Hexes function as cantrips, so you can cast them as many times per day as you want. And afaik their DC scales to some extent

    Aw, I too really like shamans based on playing wow ... but I really do not like MAD classes in DnD or Pathfinder. I just feel that they are at such a massive disadvantage, at least in computer games, compared to classes that can just pump 1 or 2 attributes. "Greater versatility" just generally feels like you are gimping yourself.

    • @Obregon-
      @Obregon- 3 роки тому +3

      Most of the charisma reliant parts of the shaman are just the amount of uses per day for an ability.

    • @cyberninjazero5659
      @cyberninjazero5659 2 роки тому +1

      Shaman works great if you ignore Charisma. But I do think they should've just made the parts that use the Charisma modifier be based on Wisedom instead

    I can't help but feel like every caster you can pick in this game is a downgrade compared to vanilla Sorcerer, less feats, less casts, less spell options (because in the end you can't cast 100 spells of the same level). The feels I get from any other casters that aren't melee or ranged as well, is that they are only worth dipping and not actually commiting. They have so many flaws and detrimental aspects I find it hard to compare to Sorcerer. Of course there is the sense of variety or adventure in using other classes, but they sell very well their advantages and I think this is a flaw in the ballance of this game. What do you guys think?
    I mean, you can pretty much control the battle with 3 classes: Fighter, Sorcerer and a Ranged Multiclass (add to dipping Vivi, Rowdy or any rogues, Rage class and Scaled fist/zen archer). The other options all seem a lot of trouble for little to no fun (repeating same skills and spells every encounter), specially on higher difficulties.

      Should mostly be up to date, shaman didn't receive much in the way of changes outside of some spell related bugs
