He is literally in a class by himself. Oblivion means nothing to someone who exists so far beyond reality that he willed himself back into existence after being eradicated TO oblivion Just think about that. I'm not talking about healing or regen. This goes way beyond that stuff. He thought himself into being after being eradicated from being. How do you think when there is no longer any "you" left TO think? It seems like such a mundane ability, but it isnt. Even odin or galactus cant think themselves to life when they've been eradicated. Someone or something ELSE has to bring them back. Manhattan is so far beyond what we comprehend as reality that the rules of it don't apply to him. He toys with it, manipulates it. Toys with life, oblivion, death, etc.
If the justice league, who is consistently made up of far far more powerful heros than the avengers can do nothing to dr manhattan, then what hope do the avengers have?

The reason why Dr. Manhattan can resist, be immune to, and even learn magic is because the universe is essentially a mathematical logic machine. The "program code" and "monads" that make up this logic machine are no different in front of Dr. Manhattan than the Matrix is in front of Neo.
For him, the only thing he needs to do is "reprogram", and he would even comment "What kind of shitty bug code is this?"
For him, magic users are just a group of hackers who have exploited program loopholes in the world system architecture, not even relying on the understanding of the "code", but purely empirical practice and idealistic attempts.

It would maybe be possible for an older and wiser Thor to defeat him. Becuase Odin with the infinity Gauntlet was practically a dr Manhattan. Odin did reshape parts of the Universe and created a dimension (the bifrost) to fuel the Odin force.

Ok, let's take a closer look at Dr. Manhattan.
To understand his power, we need to start from the beginning: what created him. He was a victim of a laboratory accident that removed his intrinsic field. His consciousness survived and reassembled his body, now using his new abilities to interact with and influence quantum fields. From here, we have the following questions:
How much strength does his consciousness have to interact with these fields? A lot of strength, little strength, unlimited strength? Where does this strength come from?
What prevents other characters who manipulate magic or matter from recreating the experiment and becoming or creating other Manhattans?
His body might be invulnerable, but is his consciousness? After all, it is somewhere, and it's not a very isolated place considering he has to manipulate his physical body. What prevents telepathic characters from destroying him? Or controlling him? Like Xavier?
But let's say that the consciousness is a field and Manhattan can affect or protect himself from the consciousness of other telepaths. Then what prevents these other telepaths from having the same powers as Manhattan? Since the separation of mind and matter is purely quantum.
My point is: either Manhattan is a limited being as Moore designed him, or all users of magic and matter manipulators will turn into Manhattans...
Because there is really nothing preventing them. Moreover, Manhattan was created in a laboratory accident. By accident. Imagine then what could be created on purpose by super scientists like Luthor.
It seems to me that not only do the writers keep buffing Manhattan, but they also seem to be constantly dumbing down everyone around him. In Doomsday Clock, the magic users decided that the best strategy was to use fire and ice against him. In that case, you don't even need Manhattan to defeat them; a fire door would suffice.

Wouldnt Scarlet Witch and/or Sentry at their highest scaling be able to at least give him a decent fight, both them being high level reality warpers also? I mean for Wanda theres her House of M level, and Danco pointed out a time that Sentry fought Molecule Man on the reality alterer level.

First of all, the Justice League is a joke compared to the Avengers mentioned in this matchup. the first 2 female avengers mentioned can also erase someone from existence, so against Dr. M..... it should be a matter of who does the erasing first! The phoenix cannot be destroyed nor erased, so it would not be a one sided easy win for Dr. M at all.
Dr Manhattan would just leave and come back 25 years later and most of them would be dead.. he is immortal and wouldn’t care.

He stated he sat in the middle of the sun and allowed himself to be burned from existence in order to rid himself of the Void. He tore his head off and regrew it to prove a point. Not only that, the Molecule Man erased Sentry from existence of for Sentry to come back and tell him he transcended life and death and erased the Molecule Man from existence. The Sentry is immortal and cannot die, period. He can’t be erased or killed.

The only characters that can stop Dr. Manhattan is Fulcrum, or the TOAA.
