Soldering is clearly overhyped. Taping the components down has many advantages. Things are way easier to replace and fix. No special tools/skills required. You can use less heat-resistant components, making things cheaper. Tape is non-conducting, reducing the risk of electric shock. Accidentally bridging contacts with solder is no issue anymore. You can run 1 strip of tape several times around the board, securing all components at once. No more burnt hands from holding the soldering iron the wrong way. You can get tape with your name printed on, so everybody can see who did a magnificent taping job. My brother-in-law sells tape, so he's going to make more money. I see only pros, no cons!

The capacitor that you removed looked like it said 22uF instead of 2.2uF. Maybe it was just the camera angle, but I didn't see a decimal point. Not sure if that would make a difference anyway. Either way, thanks for another great video and hope you feel better soon!

That was a good fix and in situations where you can’t be sure of the expected behaviour it can be tricky to know how successful you’ve been. If it comes back to you again just add a couple bits of wire avoiding that area of the board altogether.... remember the original designers wanted something that would be in the shops fast and as long as it worked for a year they were happy ... so many decades on extra reinforcements may well be the way to go.
