This was really fun. I hope you liked it too and i am really looking forward to see what you created from your imagination. :) Do you want to see more tool tutorials like this one?
Hi Olivio, thanks for your great videos! For the problem at 6:02 just create the image of the two links of the chain with a solid fill and in the brush editing window bring the last "Rotation" slider to 50%, this will bring the second image in the correct order! Ciao e grazie!
Thanks for sharing this. The more of these tutorials I see the more love Affinity Photo. It is so nice that people like you take the time to share their knowledge.
Really fantastic video Olivio! I continue to learn lots from you. And thank you for NOT deleting the "mistake" part. That's where I really can learn stuff. In fact - I made the same mistake while doing this today. As you know (because you mention it in your "move tool secrets" video, at 2:10, the extra copies are caused by holding down the CTRL key when you use the move tool. Keep up the GREAT work. We are lucky to have you!
Really nice and coherent flow in your explanation. Appeciate the many steps which I didn't quite expect to make it so ! You're a natural teacher Olivio.
This was a really interesting tutorial. Although I will have to see the part where you made transparencies around the rope, a few times to really understand what went on.
G'day Olivio Another BRILLIANT tutorial....nonthing strange there. As all of yours are superb? I'll be 'playing' around with this for sure. There's one thing throw. When you were doing the chain demonstration and centering it on the canvas, you could click on the 'centre dot of nine' and it will centre the image on the canvas. Greg
Thank you for this great information. You are so clear. I tried to create several brushes the way you said, of random dots to use. But when save as intensity brushes, so I can change the color, they are very weak and low rez. I saved them at the highest possible resolution but they are still weak. So I tried saving them as image brushes and they are much nicer, but I need to be able to change the color. Do you know why this could be? thank you!
I have created a 55" by 35" document for printing for big print here is my question when creating my own custom brush do I use the same document size as use the main artwork but in a square size like ?
What a great tutorial, thank you. Olivio, is it possible to make a 'skin' brush that could paint realistic skin tones? I am thinking about new ways to colour in the skin on old black and white photographs of my ancestors. Just using one colour with low opacity is ok but I wonder if there is a better way.
I have tried and tried to make a vector brush but every time I get a "ghost" background that surrounds the brush area. I have tried to clean up the background by erasing just in case but that does not help. Help!
That was a good one Olivio; bit of an eye opener even though I do not have a lot of use for brushes apart from the basic hard or soft round brush --- photo edits only . Thanks for sharing . As I do find picking the "right" brush a bit confusing.; do you have any suggestions for a few of the better / useful photo editing brushes ? Cheers :)
Many thanks Olivio, I will be giving this a try. You didn't mention if the brushes are saved with the document or are available for the application to use with other canvases. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Hi Kevin, thank you. The brushes are saved in your own Affinity Photo library. However, i found that if you export them, not all settings are saved in the export. That's why i didn't upload them to the patron page. I have to write the Affinity Photo team about that.
Hi Michael, you can. But since Gold is not a color, you need a gold texture that you overlay onto the brushpaint. search my channel for "metal font" to see how to overlay things to give ti a certain texture.
Thank you very much for this and all of your tutorials. I followed the steps but my chain brush doesn’t have a transparent background. Is it because I am using the iPad version of Designer? Is there a work around? Also I’d like to create a brush that would let me “paint” stars on a sky? Thanks again
Thank you, Barry. You need to export it as PNG and make sure that the document has no background (you see a checker pattern instead of color in the back)

Awesome. I truly wish you best of everything in life. Well done Olivio.

Thanks for showing and explaining. It's a very cool tutorial.
Glad you like it!
Hey man thanks for this, possibly my fave tool yet in Affinity, and your explanations are so crystal clear and easy to follow. Bravo sir!

Thanks for this tutorial Olivio.
One question at 1:58 please, is there a reason why it needs to be a square? Can't it remain as rectangle? Thank!
Probably because a square provides the correct blank space around the image to b used as the "stamp" for the brush.
@@graziacavasino8884 I see, thanks for your input Grazia.
Very informative! Thank you so much. Absolutely, please keep them coming.
Ann Harrison thank you. I will :)

Can a raster image be applied to a vector brush thus making it into a vector painterly brush like in adobe illustrator?
super thanks Olivio, you are super too
You are welcome, Yayo :)

Did they ever fix this issue?
I'm trying to achieve a gold paint brush or metallic cold brush...can I implement this to achieve that?

What about a cloud brush? I'm picturing a design to write something in the sky like planes sometimes do. Same process? One image instead?
Hi Conor, you can download free Brushes from pages like brusheezy.com or create your own cloud brushes :)
where can I sell brushes made with affinity photo?
in any webstore of your choice. there are a lot of different stores out there. i'm using gumroad
@@OlivioSarikas do brushes are sold in packs or can we sell indivisual brush too?
Geil! Danke Dir
Fantastic! Thank you!
