    6:52 Hi Olivio, you can add a text to the perspective projection - duplicate the layer two times (if you want to change the opacity on your text), open live projection, add text with the text tool, merge the text down (CTRL+E), remove live projection and you can set the opacity of the layer and the text at the same time or you can play with the blend options.

    Great tutorial! Thank you. Is there a way to make perspective projection fit into its own aspect ratio rather than Canvas ratio? The same as in Photoshop with their "Perspective Crop" tool. I'm trying to quickly straighten posters, stickers etc. from photos without eyeballing the proper aspect ration.

    • @OlivioSarikas

    So when I type a text and select the perspective and then manipulate the perspective notes the text stays the same. It does not transform like on your video. WHY??

    • @CalvoBelga
      @CalvoBelga 5 років тому

      okay, so... just found out that you need to Rasterize the text first before you can put it in perspective.... and then it seems to work

    • @CalvoBelga
      @CalvoBelga 5 років тому

      But then after being rasterized and further edit in Designer, you cannot change the colors anymore of the text.... Very limited!! Or am I missing something??

    OH MY GOODNESS THAT 2D PERSPECTIVE THING IS AWESOME!!!!!!! A designer's choice right here guys wow. But a quick tip. You CAN project and use these prospective, use new layers and apply what you need. Affinity is non destructive completely EXCEPT for bringing in a new project, it drops the old without asking and you will permanently lose your prior project.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  5 років тому +1

      Hi Builders, thank you very much :) You can always save your work to a affinity photo file format to keep all the layers. :)

      @@OlivioSarikas No what i mean is you know how PS opens a new tab for new projects? Then you can click through the ones you work in for copy/paste?... This one if you command-N, it simply overrides the project completely without warning permanently erasing everything you did with no way to retract. it

      Hi Olivio, I have had a chance to use this method and I think it will take a little while to master, the photo I worked on has a Church exterior with cream coloured columns, when I tried to straighten them using the perspective tool, the "fixed" lines then appeared jaggered and uneven. I tried to use inpainting to smooth them but it didn't do the job, have you had this issue before using perspective and how did you correct it please? maybe its a suggestion for another tutorial video :-)

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  5 років тому

      Hi Toni, did you zoom into the image, to see if it's not just an error with how Affinity Photo displays the image? Also, maybe you sterched the image too far, so it became pixelated. The impainting tool isn't really meant for that. It's for when you want to remove objects from a image. I could help you more if i could see the picture, but feedback on pictures is reserved for Patrons of my channel only. www.patreon.com/sarikas

      @@OlivioSarikas I think you've identified the problem, as I'm learning how far the perspective tool works, there will probably be limitations with stretching. I really liked the feature that Lightroom had where it would adjust perspective with a click of a button, it's great that we have more control with affinity but I guess it can be "over-cooked". Looking forward to seeing your next videos.

    • @gage5650
      @gage5650 6 років тому

      Thanks for the fast reply. I went straight from inputting the text to the perspective tool. It put a grid around it, but it just didn't do anything. I also tried your trick with the building and that didn't work either. The only thing I could do was change the perspective of the entire image, but that doesn't help me too much. I'm using the trial version of the software, so maybe it's a bug that isn't in the paid version. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  6 років тому

      That's strange. Did you use the Perspective tool right below the text too? Don't use the "Perspective Projection" in the Layer menu for this. If you used the Perspective tool, the text layer should automatically convert into a pixel layer. It says (Pixel) next to the layer, in the layer window. When you see the grid, you should be able to pull the corners, that should look like little white squares. Another reason this might not work is that you might have locked the text layer by accident. If that is the case, a little lock symbol is shown right side of the layer in the layer window. Other than that, i can't imagine why it didn't work for you. Maybe someone in the very helpful facebook community can help you. I'm also a member there: facebook.com/groups/828038617293628/

    • @gage5650

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  6 років тому

      Sorry, i couldn't find anything about that online. Hopefully some of the iPad users know more about that. If that feature is missing, you could your a rectangle shape instead and make it transparent enough to still see what's behind it. It's not as easy as a guide, but it's a straight line that gives you orientation.

    • @shrimpfarmer
      @shrimpfarmer 5 років тому

      I just tested this using guides. The bad news is when you select the perspective tool the guides disappear. The work around is to place the guides, then save the perspective correction as a live layer and adjust, then turn the guides on again to check. Not ideal but it does work on the ipad and its better than guessing.

Im not a pro user making a living out of it, although I need a good one to make pro adjustments as I have a couple of ideas im thinking about regarding making some money.
