    Thanks for all of the information and the video of the beautiful trees. It is interesting that I also have an Aconitifolium, but the leaves do not have the reddish color in the summer like yours does.

      Your acer may be in less acidic soil and different moisture conditions, or also in a more shaded area. All of these factors will make the leaves more green 💚 Thanks for watching!

    Excellent video. They look amazing. I was wondering about pots as I am fast running out of bed space in my garden. I found 6 seeds under an absolutely beautiful acer in the park and all 6 have germinated.

      Well done! I hope growing them in pots helps fix your space issue! Bear in mind that all of those Acer's will likely come out differently as Acer's don't come true from seed.

      @@GreenIslandGardensVideos 8:59 8:59 What if I live in a climate that gets cold and snowy winters? I'll they survive in pots? 8:59

      @@mahidikarif2123 yes they are fully hardy and will survive really cold winters even in pots. There will only be a problem if they sit too wet when it’s really cold

    I have just bought one in a small pot. Should I repot it straight away and put it outside? It just seems fragile at the moment and with the current weather I keep thinking it won’t survive. Can I keep it in a pot indoors and put it out once the weather improves?

      Acers will not thrive inside
      They are fully hardy down to minus 20C so it will be fine outside. If you can protect it from late frosts after it comes into leaf just for the first year or two with some horticultural fleece that would be beneficial

    My acer needs new compost I think because this year the leaves aren't so red and the leaves have gone crispy am I to late to replace the compost or should I wait till spring.?

    • @GreenIslandGardensVideos
      @GreenIslandGardensVideos  2 роки тому

      The spring is the best time to replace the compost but the reason the leaves have gone crispy is not related to the compost. Unfortunately this summer has been exceptionally hot so not ideal for acers, especially in pots. They need to be kept consistently moist so lack of water coupled with the heat and wind is the reason the leaves have shrivelled. Don’t panic though… just keep watering through the growing season and they will be fine next year

    I got a dwarf shaina, I wanted to put it in my front garden but that means it will be in full sun most of the day. I hear that it needs some shade. Should I try or instead pot it up?

    • @GreenIslandGardensVideos
      @GreenIslandGardensVideos  Рік тому +1

      It is a myth that it needs shade, if it has adequate and consistent moisture and the right soil to grow in it will do well. Without these factors it will not.
